India’s Next Agricultural Revolution Will Be AI-Driven: Dr. Jitendra Singh

| Published on:

India’s next agricultural revolution will be driven by artificial intelligence, Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh said today, positioning AI as the central pillar of farm policy, research and investment architecture at the AI4Agri 2026 Summit in Mumbai.

Addressing the inaugural session of the “Global Conference on AI in Agriculture and Investor Summit 2026” here, the Minister said AI offers, for the first time, scalable solutions to structural challenges that have long constrained farm productivity – erratic weather, information asymmetry and fragmented markets. “ What AI offers is not a new diagnosis. It offers, finally, a prescription that can scale,” he said, noting that even a 10% productivity gain for the 600 million farmers across the Global South would amount to what he described as the single largest poverty-reduction opportunity of the century  .

Framing agriculture as a strategic sector rather than a legacy one, Dr. Jitendra Singh linked the AI push to the ₹10,372-crore India AI Mission, which is building sovereign compute capacity, datasets and startup infrastructure at scale  . He highlighted BharatGen, India’s government-owned large language model ecosystem, which has already released “Agri Param”, a domain-specific agriculture model operating in 22 Indian languages, enabling farmers to access advisory support in their own language. “This is AI that speaks to a farmer in Marathi, Bhojpuri or Kannada,” he said, underscoring the importance of linguistic inclusion.

The Minister said the Department of Science and Technology (DST) is supporting an open, interoperable India AI Open Stack to ensure that agri-AI solutions developed anywhere in the country can plug into a national framework. The Anusandhan National Research Foundation is funding deep-tech and AI research in collaboration with IITs, IISc and ICAR, including agriculture applications.

Dr Jitendra Singh pointed to drone and satellite mapping that is already strengthening Soil Health Cards and the Swamitva Mission by providing verified land and soil data, and to investments in climate intelligence where Earth Sciences and AI are being integrated into early warning systems to help farmers “plan, not panic”. The role of biotechnology, he said, would be critical in developing resilient and disease-resistant crops, including early asymptomatic detection of pest and plant diseases, and in advancing a circular crop economy.

Highlighting the scale of opportunity, Dr. Jitendra Singh said India’s 140 million farm holdings, most of them small and marginal, could together generate an estimated ₹70,000 crore in annual value if AI-enabled advisories help each farmer save even ₹5,000 a year through better input timing, pest prediction and market linkage. He cited Maharashtra’s ₹500-crore MahaAgri-AI Policy 2025–29 as a model, adding that the Centre would align and amplify such state-level initiatives  .

The Union Budget 2026–27 has proposed ‘Bharat-VISTAAR’ — a multilingual AI tool integrating AgriStack portals and ICAR’s agricultural practices package with AI systems — to provide customised advisory support and reduce farm risk, he noted  . The focus, he said, is on small, purpose-built AI models trained on Indian soil types, climate zones and crop varieties, deployable even in low-connectivity rural areas through mobile phones and farm equipment.

Calling for a federated national architecture, Dr. Jitendra Singh said agri digital public infrastructures such as MahaAgriX should evolve into a national Agri Data Commons. He invited stakeholders to contribute to a proposed National Agri-AI Research Network — a collaboration between DST, state governments, ICRISAT, ICAR and global institutions — to build India-specific foundational datasets for crops, soil and climate.

The Minister also made a direct appeal to investors, describing agri-AI as “the largest untapped productivity market in the world,” and urged patient capital to back scalable platforms rather than isolated pilots. The success of the conference, he said, would not be measured by presentations but by how many pilots become platforms and how many farmers make better decisions a year from now because of commitments made here.

“The farmer does not need AI simply for the sake of it. He needs it to be useful. Let that be our compass,” he said, concluding with a call for collaborative delivery and reiterating India’s intent to act not as a recipient but as a co-architect of global agri-AI frameworks.

| Published on:

Your Excellency President Lula,
Distinguished delegates from both countries,
Friends from the media,

Greetings!
“Boa tarde!”

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome President Lula and his delegation to India.

I warmly welcome you to India with the same spirit of friendship and hospitality with which you had graciously received me in Brazil last year. It is a matter of happiness for me.

India-Brazil relations have long benefited from President Lula’s vision and inspiring leadership. Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of meeting him on several occasions. On each such interaction, I have personally experienced his deep friendship and abiding trust towards India.

President Lula’s visit has also added distinction to the historic AI Impact Summit and infused new momentum into our strategic partnership. I express my sincere appreciation to him for his friendship and for his commitment to the relations between our two countries.

Friends,

In our discussions today, we deliberated on advancing cooperation across all sectors, guided by our shared purpose and shared aspirations.

Brazil is India’s largest trading partner in Latin America. We are committed to taking our bilateral trade beyond twenty billion dollars over the next five years. Our trade is not merely a matter of numbers, it is a reflection of mutual trust. The large business delegation accompanying President Lula is a testament to this confidence.

The expansion of the India-MERCOSUR Trade Agreement will further strengthen our economic cooperation. Collaboration in the fields of technology and innovation holds significance not only for our two countries, but also for the entire Global South.

I am pleased that we are working towards establishing a Centre of Excellence for Digital Public Infrastructure in Brazil. We are also prioritising cooperation in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, supercomputers, semiconductors, and blockchain.

Both our countries firmly believe that “technology must be inclusive and must serve as a bridge for shared progress.”

Energy cooperation has been a strong pillar of our partnership. Alongside hydrocarbons, we are further accelerating collaboration in renewable energy, ethanol blending, sustainable aviation fuel, and several other emerging areas. Brazil’s active participation in the Global Biofuels Alliance reflects our shared commitment to a green and sustainable future.

Brazil has also proposed to co-chair the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. I commend President Lula for this initiative. Brazil’s extensive experience in this domain will make a significant contribution to further strengthening the CDRI.

The agreement reached on critical minerals and rare earths marks a significant step towards building resilient supply chains.

Our cooperation in the defence sector is also steadily expanding. It stands as a strong example of mutual trust and strategic alignment between our two countries. We will continue to further strengthen this mutually beneficial partnership in the years ahead.

We are giving new dimensions to our partnership in the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry, aligned with the needs of the future. Cooperation in areas such as climate-resilient agriculture, precision farming, and bio-fertilisers will further strengthen food security in both our countries.

The establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Brazil for oilseeds, pulses, and integrated farming will be an important initiative in this direction.

There are immense possibilities for cooperation in the fields of health and pharmaceuticals as well. We will work towards enhancing the supply of affordable and quality medicines from India to Brazil. At the same time, efforts will be made to further promote Ayurveda and traditional systems of medicine in Brazil, with a view to advancing holistic healthcare.

Friends,

On the global stage, the partnership between India and Brazil has been strong and impactful. As vibrant democracies, we will continue to advance the priorities and aspirations of the Global South.

“When India and Brazil work together the voice of Global South becomes stronger and more confident.”

We firmly believe that every challenge must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. India and Brazil are united in the view that terrorism and those who support it are enemies of humanity. We also agree that reform of global institutions is essential to effectively address the challenges of our times. We will continue to work together in this direction.

Excellency,

I am confident that your visit will further deepen our strategic partnership and open new avenues of cooperation in the years to come.

Once again, I express my heartfelt appreciation for your visit and for your deep friendship.

Thank you very much.

“Muito obrigado!”

BJP National President addresses ‘Budget Meet’ in Gandhinagar, Gujarat

| Published on:

Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Nitin Nabin addressed leading industrialists, chartered accountants, and entrepreneurs at the ‘Budget Meet’ held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on Friday. Praising the state’s industry, investment climate, innovation, and model of good governance, Shri Nitin Nabin stated that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, both the country and Gujarat are setting new benchmarks of development. Shri Nitin Nabin stated that the recently presented budget is a visionary roadmap that accelerates the goal of a Viksit Bharat, guided by strong financial management, transparent governance, and the spirit of “Nation First.” The programme was attended by Gujarat BJP State President Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, National Organisation General Secretary Shri B. L. Santhosh, State Organisation General Secretary Shri Ratnakar, representatives of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce, PHD Chamber of Commerce, ASSOCHAM, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Ahmedabad), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (Ahmedabad), and representatives and office-bearers of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

Shri Nitin Nabin asserted that Gujarat BJP President Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma not only explained the budget but also clearly outlined Gujarat’s priorities and the direction in which the state is progressing. The view was expressed that Gujarat’s industrialists, investors, and representatives of the corporate sector are making a vital contribution to the state’s development. Through innovation and the creation of new dimensions, their efforts are being replicated across different parts of the country to strengthen industry and business nationwide. A widely acknowledged characteristic of Gujarat’s business community was highlighted: commitment to work is strong, but commitment to the nation is even stronger. This national commitment is visibly reflected in their actions. For this reason, traders and businesspersons across Gujarat were described as deserving appreciation, as their sense of responsibility has consistently aligned with national interests. It was noted that a commonly heard belief is that a Gujarati may compromise on many things, but never on national identity or on business ethics. The ideological alignment was also underlined with the principle that defines the party’s philosophy ‘Nation First, Party Next, Self Last’ and it was observed that Gujaratis similarly uphold the belief, ‘Nation First, then Business.’

Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Nitin Nabin expressed that it was a privilege to be in Gujarat. On this very day, one full month had been completed since assuming charge as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The visit was to a state that has presented a distinct model of development. The Gujarat Model became a benchmark for development across the country; states compared themselves against it, adopted its principles, and several implemented it with innovation suited to local needs. The leadership that guided Gujarat on this development path stands as a living testimony before everyone present. Over the past twelve years, Gujarat’s own son, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, has provided a new direction to the entire nation. It was emphasized that a budget represents financial management and serves as an indicator of development. A budget demonstrates how development schemes are carried to the last person. The party’s guiding thinker, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya, believed that development cannot be truly defined until its benefits reach the last person. Revered Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee viewed good governance as a comprehensive model and held that without transparent government, and without clearly defining both governance and government, it would not be possible to effectively deliver schemes to the grassroots.

Shri Nitin Nabin highlighted that over the last twelve years the country has witnessed though Gujarat experienced it earlier the process through which the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji ensured that government schemes reached the last person, implemented with a comprehensive model of transparency and governance. This was described as the greatest achievement of the past twelve years. While speaking about delivering development to the last mile, it was underlined that the single biggest reform was the opening of Jan Dhan bank accounts. When the initiative to open bank accounts for the poor was announced, many debates took place. Even well-wishers questioned how the poor would reach a bank’s doorstep. Despite such doubts, the opening of Jan Dhan accounts emerged as the most transformative reform of the last twelve years. Through Direct Benefit Transfer, the commitment to ensure that development schemes reach the last person was translated into reality. There was a time when it was commonly said that if one rupee left Delhi, only fifteen paise reached the poor. That narrative was decisively changed by ensuring that every rupee sent from Delhi reached the beneficiary’s account in full. Jan Dhan accounts created this pathway and, in one stroke, ended the intermediary-driven diversion of thousands of crores meant for welfare schemes.

Shri Nitin Nabin remarked that Jan Dhan bank accounts are regarded as the biggest reform of the last twelve years because they reflect a firm commitment to ensuring that government schemes reach the last person. The recently presented Budget was described as the first Budget of the duty-bound Prime Minister, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, carried forward from Kartavya Bhavan to Kartavya Path. When the Hon’ble Prime Minister described it as the first Budget of the second quarter of the 21st century, one that moves forward with resolve toward a Viksit Bharat it became evident that this Budget is a crucial milestone for the initial phase of that journey. With a clear roadmap, the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 is being pursued with determination. At a time when the world is passing through economic uncertainty, India stands out as the fastest-growing major economy, recording around 7 percent growth while maintaining one of the lowest inflation rates globally. This performance was attributed to disciplined financial management. This phase can also be viewed as one in which global powers are increasingly determined to move forward through agreements with India. In recent years, the “Mother of All Deals” with the European Union and the agreements concluded with the United States marked by patience, discipline, and the protection of India’s interests are seen as steps that strongly support India’s future roadmap and Budget priorities.

Shri Nitin Nabin highlighted that at a time when ‘Local for Vocal’ is being emphasized, in a state like Gujarat, where there has always been a tradition of establishing industries even at small scales, the work of providing markets has been done by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Confidence was expressed that every district’s unique product, which represents its aspiration, will be promoted and established by Gujarat. The Gujarat government has prepared a complete roadmap to make Gujarat a developed state by 2035, when it completes 75 years. Four dimensions have been identified for this vision: infrastructure, innovation, individual-based development, and institution-based development. These four dimensions will prove to be important milestones in making Gujarat a developed state before 2035. Gujarat is moving toward becoming the first state in the country where a fully operational semiconductor plant has taken final shape. In the coming time, Gujarat will be established as a major hub in the semiconductor sector. Recently, a three-day international summit on Artificial Intelligence was organized, in which leading industrialists and several heads of state from around the world participated. The foresight of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is clearly visible in ensuring that India not only leads in the world of AI but also shapes the progress of the entire AI system in a manner that enhances India’s significance and establishes it as a leading nation in the AI sector. The wide global participation makes it clear the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji presents visions well in advance, visions that the world may adopt in the future, but for which he prepares the roadmap today itself. This is a leadership vision that is firmly advancing India toward becoming a progressive and developed nation.

BJP National President remarked that an incident occurred today which saddened everyone. During such a major international summit, the manner in which a narrow mindset was displayed is being viewed as a tendency of ‘Urban Naxalism.’ Earlier some parties were influenced by this thinking, but in today’s time they have become completely immersed in it. When the entire world is speaking positively about India, such shameless activity works to harm the nation’s progress. Shri Nabin referred to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, and the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, stating that all of them demonstrated the resolve to steer the country forward despite adverse circumstances. This resolve reassures everyone that India will successfully accomplish its Vision 2047 in the years to come.

Shri Nitin Nabin mentioned that today more than one lakh MSME units have been established in Gujarat, and in the field of manufacturing, Gujarat has emerged as a hub. At such a time, presenting the entire Budget in the same scale and shape has been done by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. The foresight of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji can be gauged from the fact that on one hand he is entering into trade deals, and on the other hand, he is preparing the Budget in alignment with them. This parallel roadmap has certainly provided major support to India’s business community and industry. The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has always spoken about ‘Ease of Doing Business,’ but now the era of ‘Ease of Growing Business’ has also arrived. To provide better markets to the country’s entrepreneurs, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has created a major platform. There was a time when India depended on other countries for mobile manufacturing, but today India is emerging as the number one country in mobile manufacturing. Whether it is components of electronic goods or other sectors like textiles, the agreements and deals in these areas have opened large markets, the benefits of which are certainly going to accrue to India’s industry.

Shri Nabin noted that in this Budget, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has set a standard. If India presents itself with product quality, it will create a distinct identity at the global level. The industry should not compromise on quality, because the government is providing such a large market that there will never be a shortage in profit. ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make in Bharat’ can become trademarks that are recognized for the quality of any product. In recent days, the clear roadmap given by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for manufacturing units, the pharma industry, and sectors like textiles, and the kind of incentives the government is showing in these units, will prove to be a big option for India’s business community in the coming time and can be seen as a red-carpet welcome.

Shri Nitin Nabin remarked that there was a time when the condition of the country’s banks was extremely poor. Banks are viewed as a crucial segment for entrepreneurs, as overall business growth is closely linked to the strength of the banking system. In the same country, non-performing assets once rose to nearly 10–11 percent. Today, however, NPAs have fallen to below 1 percent, and banks that earlier ran into losses of thousands of crores are now reporting profits of thousands of crores. This turnaround is directly benefiting the country’s business community. This point was highlighted to underline that the manner in which capital infrastructure has been given a significantly larger allocation in the Budget signals the high priority accorded to infrastructure, both now and in the future. In a similar vein, the incentives announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for the semiconductor sector, along with the priority granted to it in the Budget, were described as noteworthy. The process of Gujarat emerging as the country’s fourth semiconductor hub is progressing steadily. Going forward, Gujarat will no longer be limited only to textiles and Surat’s diamond industry, but is also likely to assume a leading role in semiconductor and chip manufacturing.

BJP National President remarked that in the Budget, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has accorded special importance to the Orange Economy. This represents a dimension that is strongly attracting the new generation. A large number of young people are working in fields such as animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics, and the scale and structure provided in the Budget to support these sectors appear highly conducive to the growth of new startups. India’s youth population is currently at its peak as a demographic dividend. With the world’s largest youth population, India’s growth curve is reaching new heights. This young population possesses the capacity to take the country and its states forward through hard work and enterprise. At such a juncture, special attention is required for new domains and emerging startups. New startups and MSME units need to work in a strong and focused manner on three key dimensions: productivity, creativity, and constructiveness. With the substantial support being extended to large-scale manufacturing units, the benefits of this approach are expected to accrue on a wide scale.

Shri Nabin asserted that while the Budget has given a major push to infrastructure, equal importance has also been accorded to the defence sector by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. There was a time when the defence budget largely indicated provisions for salaries and basic facilities for soldiers and personnel, but the present Budget has been framed in a thoroughly progressive manner. At a time when the entire world is strengthening its defence capabilities, India too is moving ahead at a rapid pace. The defence budget has increased by about 15 percent compared to the previous year, clearly reflecting the country’s serious intent to reinforce and modernize the defence sector. Special mention was also made of the Jal Jeevan Mission, highlighting its particular significance for Gujarat. Ensuring water supply to areas that earlier lacked access has emerged as major support for farmers, and the benefits of this scheme are set to reach a wide region. The announcement of a new Dedicated Freight Corridor in Surat was described as a major initiative, directly linking eastern India with Gujarat’s industrial and export hubs. This is expected to strengthen supply chains and provide substantial benefits to Gujarat’s manufacturing and production units. The decision to grant a tax holiday to GIFT City has also been highlighted, as it is likely to attract investors and evolve into a major growth segment in the coming years.

Shri Nitin Nabin expressed happiness on learning that while the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is advancing the nation in the fields of space and science, Gujarat has also been positioned at the forefront in the domain of sports. The Commonwealth Games 2030 have been awarded to Gujarat, and there is strong confidence that this event will not only create major business opportunities for the state but will also give Gujarat a distinct global identity. The Commonwealth Games are expected to become a moment of pride in the coming years, one that will be celebrated by the entire nation. Sports were described as a powerful dimension that infuses the younger generation of India with fresh and positive energy. There is a belief that the successful hosting of the Commonwealth Games will lay the foundation for even larger global sporting platforms in the future. Extending best wishes to the people of Gujarat, it was emphasized that the event should be organized at such an elevated standard that it further strengthens India’s claim for hosting the 2036 Games.

BJP National President mentioned that he was pleased to see that under the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, a new spirit of entrepreneurship has emerged among mothers and sisters. Through the formation of Self-Help Groups and the vision of promoting women entrepreneurs, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is continuously taking initiatives to strengthen and empower half of the population. ‘Lakhpati Didi’ is not merely a phrase, but a process aimed at enhancing the self-respect and dignity of women. Gujarat’s women have played a major role in the most successful Self-Help Group experiments. The Government of Gujarat has dedicated the year 2026 as Tourism Year. Everyone knows how tourism can become a major industry hub. Even small countries expand their revenue and infrastructure by placing tourism at the center of development. Under the leadership of the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel Ji, tourism has continuously received a larger platform. Several riverfronts have been developed, and the Statue of Unity has today become a major tourist destination not only for the country but for the world. Religious sites including Somnath Mandir have been revived and established in a significant manner, due to which Gujarat is emerging as a major tourist center, benefiting local entrepreneurs and citizens. All businesspersons should extend their support to the tourism sector as well, stating that it is a dimension that generates employment for youth and creates positive energy and a new identity for the state and the country. The announcement made by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel Ji will give Gujarat a new identity.

Shri Nabin noted that today Gujarat is writing new dimensions of development. The manner in which the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has taken a pledge to work with a spirit of service from Sevatiirth is clearly visible. Recently, when he declared his office as Sevatiirth, it signaled that the office is dedicated to service and that from there, work will be carried out keeping the service of 1.4 billion citizens at the center. The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji believes that the entire population of the country is an asset, and if every Indian takes one step forward for the nation’s development, then 1.4 billion citizens together can take the country ahead. Shri Nitin Nabin extended his greetings to the business leaders, intellectuals, and representatives of chambers present, and said that the dreams of Viksit Gujarat 2035 and Viksit Bharat 2047 should be realized collectively. Their struggle, hard work, and enterprise will provide great strength to Viksit Bharat.

BJP National President addresses ‘Abhinandan Samaroh’ in Ahmedabad, Gujarat

| Published on:

Hon’ble Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Nitin Nabin arrived at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad today, Friday, for a three-day visit to Gujarat. He was greeted with a grand and jubilant welcome by party leaders and karyakartas. The Honorable National President expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Gujarat BJP karyakartas for this unprecedented reception. The entire area was adorned with BJP flags and resonated with spirited chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Nitin Naveen Zindabad.”

This marks Shri Nitin Nabin’s maiden visit to Gujarat since assuming the office of BJP National President. Over the next three days, he will participate in several organizational meetings and public events. He is scheduled to engage with youth, entrepreneurs, traders, and professionals to discuss the comprehensive national development taking place under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

Hon’ble BJP National President credited the hard work of Gujarat’s Party Karyakartas for the success of Viksit Gujarat and called for full preparedness for the 2027 and 2029 elections, appealing to work with the mantra of “Seva Hi Dharma. Subsequently, Shri he held meetings with BJP Members of Parliament and MLAs from Gujarat. During the event, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat BJP State President Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, District President Shri Prerak Shah, and other leaders were present on the stage.

Shri Nabin noted that this is the first visit to Gujarat as the National President of the BJP. However, the spirit and sense of belonging with which Gujarat is providing leadership to the entire nation and the fact that sons of this sacred land are today leading not only the country but also making their mark globally, compel him to bow in reverence to this holy soil. This is the land of Mahatma Gandhi, who gave the nation the principle of non-violence, through which India carved a distinct identity for itself across the world. This very land also gave birth to the great leader who undertook the monumental task of uniting India. As Home Minister, the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, played a historic role in integrating the country, a legacy that fills every citizen with pride that a son of Gujarat bound the entire nation into one thread of unity.

Hon’ble BJP National President stated that it can be said that this holy land of Gujarat has given birth to many illustrious figures who have enriched the culture and heritage of the country. If 21st century India is moving forward today on the path of development while preserving its heritage, the credit goes to Gujarat’s son and India’s Pradhan Sewak, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Today, upon arriving on the soil of Gujarat, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. I also congratulate Shri Amit Shah ji, another son of Gujarat, the present Union Home Minister of India and the former National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, under whose leadership the party witnessed its largest expansion. Along with them, I congratulate all the Karyakartas of Gujarat. It is due to the dedication, struggle, and tireless efforts of these Karyakartas that Gujarat is progressing today as a Viksit Gujarat. The credit for this achievement goes not only to the leadership here but also to the thousands of Karyakartas present and to those working diligently at the booth level.

Shri Nabin highlighted that Gujarat has witnessed sustained development under BJP governments for a long time. BJP leadership has connected every village and every town of Gujarat with development-oriented schemes. Today, Gujarat is not only providing direction to the nation but is also guiding the world. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, India is emerging on the global stage with a new and confident identity. Expressing gratitude to the people of Gujarat, Shri Nabin noted that it is because of their blessings and hard work that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji continues to lead the nation forward with determination. The brothers and sisters of Gujarat have demonstrated their capabilities across every field. Gujarat was once known as the birthplace of movements, but its movements have never been limited to change alone; they have also been instruments of development and sources of renewed energy.

Hon’ble BJP National President mentioned that the people of Gujarat do not elect a government merely for Gujarat, nor do they choose only a Chief Minister or the BJP; rather, they provide leadership whose strength is propelling the entire nation forward today. Everyone should connect with the people in accordance with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, embrace the spirit of ‘Seva Hi Dharma’, and remain continuously devoted to serving the people of Gujarat in alignment with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s ideals. The party must prepare with full strength for the upcoming elections in 2027 and 2029. Even today, there are forces that have no concern for the security of the nation or its people. Such individuals live only for themselves, whereas BJP Karyakartas are full-time politicians who consistently work among the people. During elections, some part-time politicians may appear, but BJP Karyakartas must build such strong bonds with the public that no space remains for part-time politicians. On this occasion, he expressed his gratitude to all Karyakartas and the entire state leadership. As the National President of the BJP, Shri Nabin felt deeply honored by the manner in which his felicitation was organized. He congratulated the people of Gujarat, its citizens, and party Karyakartas for their contribution to Gujarat’s development and, through their efforts, to the nation’s progress under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

Union Home Minister launches the ₹6,839 crore Vibrant Villages Programme–II in Assam

| Published on:

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, today launched Vibrant Villages Programme–II (VVP–II), at a cost of ₹6,839 crore, in Nathanpur village of Assam. On this occasion, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Home Secretary and several other dignitaries were present.

In his address, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has taken an initiative and made an effort to provide similar facilities in all villages of the Barak Valley and the border districts of Assam, like other villages across India, through the Vibrant Villages- II programme being launched today. He said that there was a time when border villages were referred to as the “last village” of the country because they lagged behind in development, employment, electricity connectivity, and education. Shri Shah said that under Vibrant Villages-I, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi decided that every village on the border is not the last but the first village of India. Shri Shah said that from today, this village in Assam will also become the first village of the country. He said that this village will not only lead in terms of development but also in areas of employment, education, roads and telecommunications.

Shri Amit Shah said that under Vibrant Villages Programme–II, nearly ₹6,900 crore is being spent which includes 1,954 villages across 334 blocks in 17 states, including 9 districts, 26 blocks, and 140 villages in Assam. He said that all basic facilities, similar to those available in any other village in India, will be provided to these 140 villages in Assam. Shri Shah said that the programme also includes villages in Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Shri Amit Shah said that a programme worth approximately ₹7,000 crore for the development of about 2,000 villages across 334 blocks adjoining the international border is being launched from today. He said that the programme includes several schemes related to security, saturation of welfare schemes and connectivity.

Shri Amit Shah said that previous governments ruled Assam for years but did nothing for the state’s development. PM’s remarks in Leaders’ Plenary Session during the India AI Impact Summit 2026

| Published on:

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared his remarks at the Leaders’ Plenary Session during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today. Welcoming the participants once again to the AI Impact Summit in India, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the summit will play a crucial role in building a human‑centric and sensitive global AI ecosystem. He remarked that history shows humanity has always turned disruptions into opportunities, and today presents another such moment to transform disruption into humanity’s greatest opportunity.

Shri Modi recalled Lord Buddha’s teaching that “Right Action comes from Right Understanding,” stressing the importance of creating a roadmap that ensures AI’s positive impact through timely, well-intentioned, and correct decisions.

Prime Minister remarked that during the COVID global pandemic, the world witnessed that when nations stand together, even the impossible becomes possible. He highlighted that cooperation provided solutions—from vaccine development to supply chains, from data sharing to saving lives. He noted that India saw how technology can serve humanity, citing the digital vaccination platform that helped vaccinate millions on time. Shri Modi emphasized that UPI ensured seamless online transactions even in difficult circumstances and played a major role in bridging the digital divide. He stated that in recent years India has built a vibrant digital public infrastructure and is sharing it with the world, because for India technology is not a medium of power but of service, not to dominate but to empower. He underlined that AI too must follow this direction to ensure the welfare of humanity.

The Prime Minister remarked that while technology in the past created divisions, AI must now be accessible and within everyone’s reach. He stressed that as the future of AI is discussed, the aspirations and priorities of the Global South must be placed at the center of AI governance.

Shri Modi highlighted that ethics have always been central to human progress, but with AI the scope of unethical behavior is unlimited. He emphasized that ethical norms for AI must also be unlimited. He stated that AI companies carry a major responsibility to focus not only on profit but also on purpose, and underscored the need for strong ethical commitments. He added that at a personal level, AI is already influencing human learning, intelligence, and emotions.

For ethical AI use, the Prime Minister offered three suggestions:

  • AI training must respect data sovereignty and be based on a trusted global data framework. He highlighted the principle of “garbage in, garbage out,” stressing that if data is not secure, balanced, and reliable, the output cannot be trustworthy.

  • AI platforms must keep their safety rules clear and transparent. He called for a “glass box” approach instead of a “black box,” where safety rules are visible and verifiable. He noted that this would ensure accountability and strengthen ethical behavior in business.

  • AI must be guided by clear human values. He cited the “paper clip problem” as an example, where a machine given a single goal could exhaust all global resources to achieve it. He underlined that while technology is powerful, direction must always be determined by humans.

Prime Minister remarked that Aspirational India has a major role in the global journey of Artificial Intelligence and, recognizing this responsibility, India is taking significant steps. He highlighted that under India’s AI Mission, 38,000 GPUs are already available and 24,000 more will be added in the next six months. Shri Modi stated that India is providing its startups with world‑class computing power at highly affordable rates. He noted that India has also created AIKosh (National Dataset Platform), through which more than 7,500 datasets and 270 AI models have been shared as national resources.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s direction and vision for AI are clear—AI is a shared resource for the welfare of humanity. He underlined the need to build an AI future that advances innovation, strengthens inclusion, and integrates human values. Shri Modi concluded that when technology and human trust move together, the true impact of AI will be visible across the world.

Prime Minister inaugurates India AI Impact Summit 2026

| Published on:

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Shri Modi remarked that the world’s largest and historic AI Impact Summit is being held in India, a nation representing one-sixth of humanity. He highlighted that India is home to the world’s largest youth population, the biggest tech talent pool, and a thriving tech-enabled ecosystem. He emphasized that India not only creates new technologies but also adopts them at an unprecedented pace. The Prime Minister noted that 140 crore Indians are eager to embrace new technologies and, on their behalf, he extended a warm welcome to Heads of Governments, leaders of the global AI ecosystem, and innovators participating in the summit. He expressed gratitude for their presence and underlined that hosting this summit in India is a matter of pride not only for the country but also for the entire Global South.

Pointing out that the summit has brought together the “who’s who” of the AI world, with representation from over 100 countries and distinguished participants from across the globe, taking its success to new heights, Shri Modi highlighted the strong presence of the young generation at the summit, which he said instills new confidence. He observed that while new technologies often face initial skepticism, the speed and trust with which the youth worldwide are accepting AI, taking ownership of it, and using it, is unprecedented. The Prime Minister also remarked on the enthusiasm surrounding the AI Summit’s exhibition, particularly the large participation of young talent. He highlighted that solutions presented in areas such as agriculture, security, assistance for divyangjan, and meeting the needs of multilingual populations reflect the strength of ‘Made in India’ and showcase India’s innovative capabilities in the AI field.

Prime Minister remarked that in human history, every few centuries a turning point emerges that resets the direction of civilization. He highlighted that such moments change the pace of development and transform paradigms of thinking, understanding, and working. He observed that during such periods of transformation, the true impact is often not immediately understood. He recalled that when sparks were first generated from stones, no one imagined that the same spark would become the foundation of civilization. Shri Modi noted that when spoken language was first converted into script, no one realized that written knowledge would become the backbone of future systems. He further remarked that when signals were first transmitted wirelessly, no one could have imagined that one day the entire world would be connected in real time.

“Artificial Intelligence represents a transformation of the same magnitude as historic turning points in human civilization”, remarked Shri Modi, highlighting that what is being seen and predicted today are only the initial signs of its impact. He stated that AI is making machines intelligent, but more importantly, it is multiplying human capability many times over. The Prime Minister emphasized that the difference this time lies in the unprecedented speed and unexpected scale. He noted that earlier, the impact of technology took decades to manifest, but today, the journey from machine learning to learning machines is fast, deep, and wide. He underlined that this requires a larger vision and equally greater responsibility. Shri Modi stressed that along with the present generation, there must also be concern about the form of AI that will be handed over to future generations. He remarked that the real question is not what AI can do in the future, but what humanity chooses to do with AI in the present. Drawing parallels with nuclear power, the Prime Minister noted that humanity has witnessed both its destructive potential and its positive contributions. He asserted that AI too is a transformative power—if directionless, it leads to disruption, but with the right direction, it becomes a solution. Shri Modi highlighted that the core purpose of the Global AI Impact Summit is to deliberate on how AI can be made human-centric rather than machine-centric, and how it can be made sensitive and responsible.

Prime Minister Modi remarked that India’s vision for AI is clearly reflected in the theme of the summit— ‘Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya’—Welfare for all, Happiness of all. He emphasized that this is the benchmark for India. He cautioned that humans must not become mere data points or raw material for AI, and therefore AI must be democratized. He highlighted that AI should serve as a medium of inclusion and empowerment, especially in the Global South.

The Prime Minister stated that AI must be given an open sky, while command must remain in human hands. He compared this to GPS, which suggests the route but leaves the final decision to the user. He underlined that the direction in which humanity takes AI today will determine the future.

At the New Delhi AI Impact Summit, the Prime Minister presented India’s M.A.N.A.V. Vision for AI. He explained that M.A.N.A.V. stands for:

  • M – Moral and Ethical Systems: AI must be based on ethical guidelines.

  • A – Accountable Governance: Transparent rules and robust oversight.

  • N – National Sovereignty: Data belongs to its rightful owner.

  • A – Accessible and Inclusive: AI must not be a monopoly, but a multiplier.

  • V – Valid and Legitimate: AI must be lawful and verifiable.

He asserted that India’s M.A.N.A.V. Vision will become a crucial link for humanity’s welfare in the AI-driven world of the 21st century.

Prime Minister Modi remarked that decades ago, when the internet began, no one could imagine how many jobs it would create. He highlighted that the same is true for AI today, as it is difficult to predict what kinds of jobs will emerge in the future. He emphasized that the future of work in AI is not pre-defined, but will depend on collective decisions and actions. Shri Modi stated that the future of work is a new opportunity, marking an era where humans and intelligent systems co-create, co-work, and co-evolve. He underlined that AI will make work smarter, more efficient, and more impactful, enabling better design, faster building, and improved decision-making.

Shri Modi noted that AI will also open higher-value, creative, and meaningful roles for more people, creating opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and new industries. He stressed the importance of making skilling, reskilling, and lifelong learning a mass movement.

Asserting that the future of work will be inclusive, trusted, and human-centric, the Prime Minister remarked that if humanity moves forward together, Artificial Intelligence will elevate human potential to new heights.

Prime Minister remarked that transparency is the greatest safeguard, noting the saying “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” He observed that while some countries and companies consider AI a strategic asset to be developed confidentially, India believes AI will benefit the world only when it is shared. He emphasized that open code and shared development will allow millions of young minds to make AI better and safer. He called for a collective resolve to develop AI as a Global Common Good.

Highlighting the urgent need for global standards, the Prime Minister pointed out that deepfakes and fabricated content are destabilizing open societies. Drawing a parallel with nutrition labels on food, he said that digital content too must carry authenticity labels so people can distinguish between real and AI-generated material. Shri Modi underlined the growing need for watermarking and clear source standards as AI increasingly generates text, images, and videos, stressing that trust must be built into technology from the start.

Emphasising the importance of child safety, the Prime Minister stated that just as school syllabi are curated, the AI space must also be child-safe and family-guided. He remarked that today there are two kinds of people—those who see fear in AI and those who see fortune. He asserted that India sees fortune and future in AI, backed by talent, energy capacity, and policy clarity. Shri Modi expressed happiness that three Indian companies have launched their AI models and apps during the summit. He said these models reflect the talent of India’s youth and showcase the depth and diversity of solutions that India is contributing to the global AI landscape.

Prime Minister Modi remarked that India is building a resilient ecosystem ranging from semiconductors and chip-making to quantum computing. He highlighted that secure data centers, a strong IT backbone, and a dynamic startup ecosystem make India a natural hub for affordable, scalable, and secure AI solutions. Shri Modi emphasized that India possesses diversity, demography, and democracy. He noted that any AI model that succeeds in India can be deployed globally. He extended an invitation to the world with the call: ‘Design and Develop in India. Deliver to the World. Deliver to Humanity’. He concluded by conveying his best wishes to all participants.
