Dr Jitendra Singh holds interaction on governance innovations with representatives from 19 countries

| Published on:

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology; Earth Sciences and Minister of State for PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh today highlighted India’s strides in governance innovation and technology-driven public service delivery during an interaction with participants of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in New Delhi.

Speaking to participants from 19 countries, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that many of India’s best governance practices—such as Aadhaar-enabled digital identity systems and the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan—have transformed service delivery through transparency, speed, and technology. He urged ITEC participants to share the best administrative and technological innovations from their own countries so that India and partner nations could learn from each other’s experiences.

“Our governance model today thrives on innovation—both in terms of technology and creative problem-solving,” Dr. Jitendra Singh said. “Nearly 90 percent of Government of India’s work processes are online, ensuring continuity even during the pandemic. Technology has become the easiest and most effective tool to promote transparency and accountability.”

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, governance in India has seen a major shift towards efficiency and innovation. “The Prime Minister has been passionately advocating innovation as a way of life in governance—from infrastructure planning to digital service delivery,” he added.

Dr. Jitendra Singh also noted that he had come “to learn from you all,” describing the session as a two-way learning opportunity. He said the ITEC programme—having trained over 2,500 officials so far, including 34 participants from 19 countries in the current batch—has emerged as a platform for mutual exchange of ideas and experiences in governance.

Responding to participants’ observations on challenges such as urban traffic, Dr. Jitendra Singh cited India’s use of smart monitoring systems and online enforcement mechanisms as examples of technology improving everyday governance. He said such innovation-driven systems, coupled with citizen participation, are helping to build greater trust and accountability in administration.

Dr. Jitendra Singh encouraged ITEC participants to stay in touch virtually with IIPA and the Ministry of External Affairs even after returning home, to continue sharing updates, queries, and best practices. “With the technology we have today, physical boundaries no longer limit our cooperation. We can remain in regular contact online to exchange ideas and seek solutions together,” he said.

Dr. Jitendra Singh also took part in the Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign and a plantation drive under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam along with ITEC delegates, reinforcing the government’s focus on sustainability and citizen participation. The Minister’s participation in Swachhata Hi Sewa and the tree plantation drive earlier in the day reflected the government’s ongoing commitment to environmental consciousness and community-driven initiatives. The ITEC participants also joined these activities, symbolizing shared global responsibility toward cleaner and greener governance.

Concluding his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh reaffirmed that India’s partnership with the global community through programmes like ITEC embodies the spirit of shared growth and collective innovation envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.

In a significant boost to passenger experience at one of the country’s busiest terminals, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw today inspected the newly constructed Yatri Suvidha Kendra (Permanent Holding Area) at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS). The center is designed to accommodate approximately 7,000 passengers at any given time, dramatically enhancing pre-boarding comfort and flow.

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The newly developed state of the art Yatri Suvidha Kendra will provide comfort to passengers during festival season as there is a surge in the passenger volume. Yatri Suvidha Kendra like this shall be developed at other stations in the country.”

The new Yatri Suvidha Kendra is strategically divided into three zones to streamline passenger movement, a Ticketing area spanning 2,860 sqm, a Post Ticketing area of 1,150 sqm, and a Pre Ticketing area covering 1,218 sqm. This spatial separation is designed to reduce congestion and improve passenger comfort across the terminal’s main entrance.

Northern Railway has equipped the Kendra with comprehensive, modern amenities to ensure passenger convenience and security.

Key Features:

Ticketing: 22 modern ticketing counters and 25 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs).

Capacity & Comfort: Seating capacity for 200 passengers and 18 High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) Fans for efficient cooling.

Sanitation & Water: A dedicated toilet block built over 652 sqm, along with an RO-based drinking water system.

Information & Safety: A robust passenger announcement system with 24 speakers, three LED electronic train information displays, and 7 units of modern fire-fighting system.

Security: State-of-the-art security measures including 18 CCTV cameras, 5 luggage scanners, and 5 Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD).

Northern Railway successfully navigated several complex challenges during the construction, including the necessary demolition and shifting of existing structures such as ATMs, a Delhi Police cabin, and hoarding boards. Furthermore, the sensitive relocation of essential utilities like water lines, drainage systems, and OFC cables was executed without disruption to daily operations.

In parallel, an essential infrastructure upgrade was completed with the extension of Foot Over Bridge 1 (FOB 1). This extension ensures that passengers de-boarding trains at NDLS can now directly exit towards the Metro Station, significantly improving multimodal connectivity and reducing platform congestion.

The Union Minister was accompanied by Shri Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO Railway Board; Shri Ashok Kumar Verma, General Manager Northern Railway, and other senior Railway officials, who provided a detailed briefing on the facility’s planning and execution. The inspection underscored the Railway Ministry’s commitment to modernizing crucial infrastructure and ensuring world-class facilities for commuters.

PM addresses the Global Fintech Fest 2025 in Mumbai

| Published on:

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Global Fintech Fest 2025 in Mumbai, Maharashtra today. Extending a warm welcome to all attendees in Mumbai, Shri Modi described Mumbai as the City of Energy, the City of Enterprise, and the City of Endless Possibilities. He specially welcomed his friend, Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Keir Starmer, and expressed gratitude for his presence at the Global Fintech Festival, acknowledging the time he took to attend the event.

Recalling that five years ago, when the Global Fintech Festival was launched, the world was battling a global pandemic, the Prime Minister highlighted that today, the festival has evolved into a global platform for financial innovation and cooperation. He noted that this year, the United Kingdom is participating as a partner country, and emphasized that the partnership between two major democracies will further strengthen the global financial landscape. Shri Modi remarked on the vibrant atmosphere, energy, and dynamism at the venue, calling it remarkable. He stated that this reflects global trust in India’s economy and growth. The Prime Minister congratulated Shri Kris Gopalakrishnan, all organizers, and participants for the successful conduct of the event.

“India is the mother of democracy and democracy in India is not limited to elections or policymaking, but has been established as a strong pillar of governance”, affirmed Shri Modi, highlighting technology as a prime example of this democratic spirit. He noted that while the world has long discussed the technological divide—and India too was once affected—over the past decade, India has successfully democratized technology. “Today’s India is among the most technologically inclusive societies in the world”, stated Shri Modi.

Underlining that India has democratized digital technology, making it accessible to every citizen and every region of the country, the Prime Minister highlighted that this has now become India’s model of good governance. He explained that in this model, the government develops digital infrastructure in the public interest, and the private sector builds innovative products on that platform. Shri Modi further emphasized that India has demonstrated how technology can serve not only as a tool of convenience but also as a means of equality.

“India’s inclusive approach has transformed the banking ecosystem”, emphasised the Prime Minister. He remarked that banking was once a privilege, but digital technology has turned it into a medium of empowerment. He highlighted that digital payments have become routine in India, attributing this success to the JAM Trinity—Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile. Pointing out that UPI alone facilitates twenty billion transactions every month, with a transaction value exceeding twenty-five lakh crore rupees, Shri Modi emphasized that out of every hundred real-time digital transactions globally, fifty occur in India alone.

Noting that the theme of this year’s Global Fintech Fest reinforces and advances India’s democratic spirit, Shri Modi highlighted that India’s digital stack is being discussed globally, citing key components such as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Aadhaar Enabled Payment System, Bharat Bill Payment System, Bharat-QR, DigiLocker, DigiYatra, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) as the backbone of India’s digital economy. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that the India Stack is now giving rise to new open ecosystems. He noted that ONDC—Open Network for Digital Commerce—is proving to be a boon for small shopkeepers and MSMEs, enabling them to access markets across the country. He added that OCEN—Open Credit Enablement Network—is simplifying access to credit for small entrepreneurs and addressing the issue of credit shortage for MSMEs. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the digital currency initiative being pursued by the RBI will further enhance outcomes. He further added that all these efforts will transform India’s untapped potential into a driving force for the nation’s growth story.

“India Stack is not merely a story of India’s success, but a beacon of hope for the world, especially for countries in the Global South”, exclaimed the Prime Minister, emphasising that through its digital innovations, India aims to foster digital cooperation and digital partnerships globally. He highlighted that India is sharing both its experience and open-source platforms as global public goods. Shri Modi cited Modular Open-Source Identity Platform (MOSIP) developed in India, as a major example, noting that over twenty-five countries are adopting it to build their sovereign digital identity systems. He affirmed that India is not only sharing technology but also assisting other nations in developing it. He underscored that this is not digital aid, but digital empowerment.

Highlighting that the efforts of India’s fintech community have given indigenous solutions global relevance, Shri Modi cited interoperable QR networks, open commerce, and open finance frameworks as key areas where the growth of Indian startups is being recognized worldwide. The Prime Minister noted that within the first six months of this year, India has emerged among the top three most-funded fintech ecosystems globally.

Emphasising that India’s strength lies not just in scale, but in integrating scale with inclusion, resilience, and sustainability, Shri Modi highlighted the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in reducing underwriting bias, detecting fraud in real time, and enhancing various services. To unlock this potential, the Prime Minister called for joint investment in data, skills, and governance.

“India’s approach to AI, built on three key principles—Equitable Access, Population-scale Skilling, and Responsible Deployment”, outlined the Prime Minister. Under the India-AI Mission, the government is developing high-performance computing capacity to ensure affordable and accessible resources for every innovator and start-up. Shri Modi affirmed that efforts are underway to deliver the benefits of AI to every district and in every language. He noted that India’s Centers of Excellence, skilling hubs, and indigenous AI models are actively ensuring this outreach.

Affirming that India has consistently supported the creation of a global framework for ethical AI, Shri Modi stated that India’s experience with digital public infrastructure and its learning repository can be valuable for the world. He emphasized that the path India has followed in digital public infrastructure is the same approach it seeks to advance in AI. “For India, AI stands for All Inclusive”, stated Shri Modi.

Noting that while global debates continue around trust and safety rules for AI, India has already built a trust layer, the Prime Minister highlighted that India’s AI Mission is equipped to handle both data and privacy concerns. He expressed India’s intent to develop platforms that enable innovators to build inclusive applications. In payments, India prioritizes speed and assurance; in credit, the focus is on approvals and affordability; in insurance, the targets are effective policies and timely claims; and in investments, the goal is success in access and transparency. The Prime Minister stated that AI can be the driving force behind this transformation. For this, AI applications must be designed with people at the center. He stressed that a first-time digital finance user must have confidence that errors will be swiftly resolved. This confidence, he said, will further strengthen digital inclusion and trust in financial services.

Noting that the AI Safety Summit began in the UK a few years ago, and next year, the AI Impact Summit will be held in India, the Prime Minister highlighted that while the dialogue on safety started in the UK, the conversation on impact will now take place in India. He stated that India and the UK have shown the world a win-win partnership model in global trade, and their collaboration in AI and fintech further strengthens this spirit. The Prime Minister emphasized that the UK’s research and global finance expertise, combined with India’s scale and talent, can open new doors of opportunity for the world. He announced a renewed commitment to deepen connections between start-ups, institutions, and innovation hubs. The Prime Minister remarked that the UK-India Fintech Corridor will create opportunities to pilot and scale new start-ups, and also pave the way for enhanced cooperation between the London Stock Exchange and GIFT City. He added that this financial integration between the two countries will help companies maximize the benefits of the free trade agreement.

Underscoring the immense responsibility shared by all stakeholders, Shri Modi extended an invitation from the platform to every global partner, including the United Kingdom, to collaborate with India. He welcomed every investor to grow alongside India’s growth. The Prime Minister concluded by calling for the creation of a fintech world that enriches both technology, people and planet—where innovation aims not only for growth but also for goodness, and where finance signifies not just numbers but human progress. With this call to action, he conveyed his best wishes to all present.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, H.E. Mr. Keir Starmer, the Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Shri Sanjay Malhotra were present among other dignitaries at the event.

PM’s Press Statement during Joint Press Statement with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

| Published on:

Your Excellency Prime Minister Starmer,
Delegates from both countries,
Friends from the media
Namaskar!

I am delighted to welcome Prime Minister Keir Starmer here in Mumbai today on his first visit to India.

Friends,

Under Prime Minister Starmer’s leadership, India-UK relations have made significant progress. During my visit to the UK in July this year, we concluded the historic Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). This agreement will reduce import costs between the two countries, create new employment opportunities for youth, boost trade, and benefit both our industries and consumers.

Your visit to India along with the largest-ever business delegation, just months after the Agreement, reflects the new energy and broad vision driving the India–UK partnership.

Friends,

Yesterday marked the largest summit of business leaders between India and the UK. Today, we will also be addressing the India–UK CEO Forum and the Global FinTech Festival. These will bring valuable insights, and open up new avenues for further strengthening India–UK cooperation.

Friends,

India and the UK are natural partners. Our relationship is built on the shared values of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. In today’s time of global uncertainty, our growing partnership stands as an important pillar of global stability and economic progress.

In today’s meeting, we also shared views on the Indo-Pacific, peace and stability in West Asia, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. On the issues of the Ukraine conflict and Gaza, India supports all efforts to restore peace through dialogue and diplomacy. We are fully committed to enhancing maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

Friends,

There are immense possibilities in the technology partnership between India and the UK. We are working to connect the UK’s industrial expertise and R&D with India’s talent and scale.

Last year, we launched the India–UK Technology Security Initiative. Under this initiative, we have created a strong platform for joint research and innovation in critical and emerging technologies. To connect the youth of both countries through an innovation bridge, we have taken several steps, including establishing the ‘Connectivity and Innovation Centre’ and the ‘Joint AI Research Centre’.

We have decided to establish an Industry Guild and a Supply Chain Observatory for cooperation on critical minerals. Its satellite campus will be located at ISM Dhanbad.

We have a shared commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals. In this direction, we welcome the formation of the India–UK Offshore Wind Taskforce.

We have established the Climate Technology Startup Fund. This will provide support to innovators and entrepreneurs from both countries working in the fields of climate, technology, and AI.

Friends,

From defense and security to education and innovation, India and the UK are shaping new dimensions in their relationship.

Today, Prime Minister Starmer is accompanied by the largest and most influential delegation from the education sector so far. It is a matter of great pleasure that several UK universities are now establishing campuses in India. The Gurugram campus of Southampton University was recently inaugurated, and the first batch of students has already joined. Additionally, the construction of campuses for three other UK universities in GIFT City is currently underway.

Our defense cooperation has also deepened. We are moving towards defense co-production and connecting the defense industries of both countries. Taking our defense collaboration a step further, we have signed an agreement for cooperation in military training, under which Flying Instructors from the Indian Air Force will serve as trainers with the UK’s Royal Air Force.

It is a special coincidence that while this meeting is taking place in the country’s financial capital Mumbai, our naval ships are participating in the joint exercise “Konkan 2025.”

Friends,

The 1.8 million Indians residing in the United Kingdom are a living bridge of our partnership. Through their valuable contributions to British society and the economy, they have strengthened the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and progress between our two nations.

Friends,

India’s dynamism and the United Kingdom’s expertise together create a unique synergy. Our partnership is trustworthy, and driven by talent and technology. And today, as Prime Minister Starmer and I stand together on this stage, it is a clear reaffirmation of our shared commitment to work hand in hand towards building a brighter future for the people of both our nations.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Starmer and his delegation for their visit to India.

Thank you very much.

Union Home Minister inaugurates and lays the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹1816 crore in New Delhi

| Published on:

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth approximately ₹1816 crore of the Delhi Government in New Delhi. On this occasion, Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta, and several other dignitaries were present. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation extended advance greetings to the people of Delhi for Diwali and Chhath Puja.

In his address, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that recently, Shri Narendra Modi completed 24 years of continuous service as Chief Minister and Prime Minister. He described Prime Minister Modi as the first personality in the country to serve the nation for such a long period—24 years—as the Chief Minister of a major state and then as the Prime Minister of great India. He said that during these 24 years, Prime Minister Modi initiated numerous new endeavors that laid the foundation for fulfilling the dreams of our freedom fighters. He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi has brought good governance to the ground level. Shri Shah said that Prime Minister Modi has resolved to secure the nation, advance the economy, and make India a leader in every field by the centenary of India’s independence in 2047. He mentioned that on Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, the Seva Pakhwada began, during which 17 projects worth over ₹1700 crore were inaugurated and their foundation stones laid in Delhi. Today, as the Seva Pakhwada concludes, 11 projects costing ₹1800 crore are being inaugurated, and the foundation stones for 8 projects are being laid.

Shri Amit Shah highlighted that today’s event holds special significance as approximately 80 percent of the projects initiated are linked to efforts to make the Yamuna River clean. He stated that when the people of Delhi chose change, Prime Minister Modi declared that purifying Mother Yamuna was the top priority of his government. Prime Minister Modi promised to complete the task of cleaning the Yamuna by 2029. By merely reducing corruption and spending less on advertisements, the purification of the Yamuna can be achieved. He said that the path to realizing the dream of a clean Yamuna has been paved. Shri Shah added that under PM Modi’s leadership, a plan to clean the Yamuna up to Prayagraj within the next seven months has been prepared. He said that the previous government had promised to clean the Yamuna and take a dip in it, but they didn’t take the dip, and the people of Delhi made them sink instead.

Union Home Minister said that Prime Minister Modi’s resolve to purify the Yamuna is not a political move, but a program to honor the sacred place that the Yamuna holds in the hearts of our people. He said that during the rule of the previous governments, which were in power in Delhi for 15 years and 11 years respectively, the people of Delhi were deprived of development. However, our government, within the current five years itself, is working with the resolve to make our national capital renowned across the world for its development.

Shri Amit Shah said that on the very first day of Navratri, Prime Minister Modi reduced the GST rates on more than 395 items—either bringing them down to zero or 5 per cent. He also said that in the Union budget, income up to ₹12 lakh was made tax-free. If we look at both these initiatives together, the public has saved nearly ₹2.5 lakh crore. Shri Shah said that this transformation has been possible only because the people of the country have elected Shri Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time.

Shri Amit Shah said that as soon as our government came to power in Delhi, the Ayushman Bharat scheme was implemented within the very first week. He stated that in the 57 Mohalla Clinics opened by the previous government, there were no glucometers, 45 had no X-ray machines, 21 lacked facilities to check pulse, and 38 clinics didn’t even have thermometers. He said that treatment cannot be provided in such Mohalla Clinics. Shri Shah added that during its 11 years in power, the previous government was involved in several scams related to Mohalla Clinics, CNG, liquor, advertisements, medicines, classrooms, the Delhi Jal Board, Sheesh Mahal, CCTV, and panic buttons.

The Home Minister further said that the previous central government too was involved in scams worth ₹12 lakh crore, but in Prime Minister Modi’s 11 years of governance, not a single allegation of corruption has been made. He said this clearly shows that our governments are truly dedicated to serving the people.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah said that during the previous government’s tenure, garbage mountains in Delhi had reached heights of up to 65 meters. He announced that by January 1, 2028, Delhiites will no longer see these garbage mountains; instead, beautiful gardens will begin to be developed at those sites. Shri Shah also remarked that since 2015, the previous Delhi government obstructed the benefits of schemes that Prime Minister Modi intended to deliver to the people of Delhi. The previous government failed to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides free treatment up to ₹5 lakh, depriving Delhi’s residents of its benefits.

Shri Amit Shah mentioned that as soon as his government came to power in Delhi, the Ayushman Bharat scheme was implemented within the first week. He criticized the previous government, stating that out of the 57 Mohalla Clinics they established, many lacked basic facilities: glucometers were absent in several, 45 clinics had no X-ray machines, 21 lacked pulse-measuring devices, and 38 clinics did not even have thermometers. He said that such clinics were incapable of providing proper treatment. Shri Shah further said that over 11 years, the previous government was involved in numerous scams related to Mohalla Clinics, CNG, liquor, advertisements, medicines, classrooms, the Delhi Jal Board, Sheeshmahal, CCTV, and panic buttons. He added that the previous central government had also been embroiled in scams worth ₹12 lakh crore, but in contrast, no allegations of corruption have been made against Prime Minister Modi’s 11-year tenure. He emphasized that this reflects the dedication of their governments to serving the public.

PM inaugurates Navi Mumbai International Airport, launches and dedicates various developmental projects

| Published on:

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport and also launched and dedicated various developmental projects in Mumbai, Maharashtra today. Welcoming all the dignitaries, Shri Modi extended warm greetings to all attendees. He noted the recent celebration of Vijayadashami and Kojagari Purnima, and conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Diwali festival

Underscoring that Mumbai’s long wait has ended with the city now receiving its second international airport, the Prime Minister highlighted that this airport will play a major role in establishing the region as one of Asia’s largest connectivity hubs. He also remarked that Mumbai has now received a fully underground metro, which will make travel easier and save time for commuters. Shri Modi described the underground metro as a living symbol of a developing India and noted that in a bustling city like Mumbai, this remarkable metro has been constructed underground while preserving historic buildings. He extended his congratulations to the workers and engineers involved in the project.

Underlining that India offers countless opportunities for its youth, the Prime Minister highlighted the recent launch of the ₹60,000 crore PM Setu scheme aimed at linking numerous ITIs across the country with industry. He noted that starting today, the Maharashtra government has introduced new programs in hundreds of ITIs and technical schools. Through these initiatives, Shri Modi said, students will receive training in emerging technologies such as drones, robotics, electric vehicles, solar energy, and green hydrogen. He extended his best wishes to the youth of Maharashtra.

Shri Modi paid tribute to Maharashtra’s son, Lokneta Shri D. B. Patil, recalling his dedicated service to society and farmers. He remarked that Shri Patil’s spirit of service is an inspiration to all, and his life will continue to motivate those working in public life.

“Today, the entire nation is committed to fulfilling the resolve of a Viksit Bharat—an India defined by both speed and progress, where public welfare is paramount and government schemes simplify citizens’ lives”, emphasised Shri Modi remarking that over the past eleven years, this spirit has guided development efforts across every corner of the country. The Prime Minister highlighted that when Vande Bharat semi high-speed trains run on the tracks, when bullet train projects gain momentum, when wide highways and expressways connect new cities, when long tunnels are carved through mountains, and when tall sea bridges link distant shores, India’s speed and progress become visible. He affirmed that such advancements give new wings to the aspirations of India’s youth.

Shri Modi stated that today’s event continues the momentum of India’s development journey. He highlighted that the Navi Mumbai International Airport is a project that reflects the vision of a developed India. Built on the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the airport is shaped like a lotus flower, symbolizing culture and prosperity. The Prime Minister remarked that this new airport will connect Maharashtra’s farmers to supermarkets in Europe and the Middle East, enabling fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, and fishery products to reach global markets swiftly. He noted that the airport will reduce export costs for nearby small and medium industries, boost investment, and lead to the establishment of new enterprises. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Maharashtra and Mumbai for the new airport.

Underlining that when there is a resolve to fulfill dreams and a strong will to deliver rapid development to citizens, results are inevitable, the Prime Minister highlighted that India’s aviation sector stands as a major testament to this progress. Recalling his 2014 address upon assuming office, Shri Modi reiterated his vision that even those wearing hawaii chappals should be able to travel by air. To realize this dream, it was essential to build new airports across the country. He affirmed that the government took this mission seriously and, over the past eleven years, new airports have been constructed one after another. In 2014, India had only 74 airports; today, the number has crossed 160.

Prime Minister stated that the construction of airports in smaller cities has provided residents with new options for air travel. To address financial constraints, the government launched the UDAN scheme, aimed at making air tickets affordable for the common citizen. He highlighted that over the past decade, millions of people have flown for the first time under this scheme, fulfilling their long-held dreams.

Emphasising that the construction of new airports and the UDAN scheme have provided convenience to citizens, Shri Modi highlighted that India has now become the world’s third-largest domestic aviation market. He remarked that Indian airlines are continuously expanding and placing orders for hundreds of new aircraft. This growth is creating new opportunities for pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and ground workers.

Pointing out that as the number of aircraft increases, the demand for maintenance and repair operations also rises, the PM highlighted that India is developing new facilities domestically to meet this need. He affirmed that the goal is to establish India as a major MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) hub by the end of this decade. He noted that this initiative is also creating numerous new employment opportunities for India’s youth.

“India is the youngest country in the world, and its strength lies in its youth”, exclaimed the Prime Minister, emphasising that every government policy is focused on creating maximum employment opportunities for young people. He remarked that increased investment in infrastructure leads to job creation, citing the ₹76,000 crore Vadhavan Port project as an example. He added that when trade expands and the logistics sector gains momentum, employment is generated.

Shri Modi affirmed that India is nurtured in values where national policy forms the basis of politics. For the government, every rupee spent on infrastructure is a means to enhance citizens’ convenience and capability. He contrasted this with a political stream in the country that prioritizes power over public welfare. He stated that such individuals obstruct development work and derail projects through scams and corruption, and that the nation has witnessed such misgovernance for decades.

Noting that the metro line inaugurated today serves as a reminder of the actions of certain previous administrations, Shri Modi recalled participating in its foundation stone ceremony, which had raised hopes among lakhs of Mumbai families for reduced hardships. However, he remarked that a subsequent government halted the project, causing the nation a loss of thousands of crores and prolonged inconvenience for several years. The Prime Minister highlighted that with the completion of this metro line, a journey of two to two-and-a-half hours will now take only 30 to 40 minutes. In a city like Mumbai, where every minute counts, he noted that citizens were deprived of this facility for three to four years, calling it nothing short of a grave injustice.

“For the past eleven years, the government has placed strong emphasis on improving ease of living for citizens”, said the Prime Minister,  underscoring that unprecedented investment is being made in facilities such as railways, roads, airports, metros, and electric buses. He cited projects like Atal Setu and the Coastal Road as examples of this development.

Shri Modi further remarked that efforts are underway to integrate all modes of transport to ensure seamless travel, eliminating the need for commuters to switch modes with difficulty. He affirmed that India is progressing towards the vision of One Nation, One Mobility. He noted that the Mumbai One App is another step in this direction, enabling citizens to avoid long queues for tickets. With this app, a single ticket can be used across local trains, buses, metros, and taxis.

Prime Minister stated that Mumbai, being India’s financial capital and one of its most vibrant cities, was targeted by terrorists in the 2008 attacks. He remarked that the government in power at the time sent a message of weakness and appeared to surrender before terrorism. Shri Modi referred to a recent revelation by a senior opposition party leader and former Home Minister, who claimed that after the Mumbai attacks, India’s armed forces were ready to strike Pakistan. He noted that the entire nation supported such action. However, according to the opposition leader, the government halted the military response due to pressure from a foreign country. The Prime Minister demanded that the opposition party clarify who influenced this decision, which he said undermined the sentiments of Mumbai and the nation. He asserted that the opposition party’s weakness emboldened terrorists and compromised national security, a cost the country paid with innocent lives.

“For our government, nothing is more important than the security of the nation and its citizens”, affirmed the Prime Minister, stating that today’s India responds with strength and strikes back within enemy territory, as witnessed and acknowledged globally during Operation Sindoor.

Shri Modi emphasized that empowering the poor, neo-middle class, and middle class is a national priority. He remarked that when these families receive access to facilities and respect, their capabilities grow, and the collective strength of citizens makes the nation stronger. He highlighted that recent next-generation reforms in GST have made several goods more affordable, further enhancing the purchasing power of the people. Citing market data, he noted that this Navratri season broke multi-year sales records, with record numbers of people purchasing scooters, bikes, televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines.

Affirming that the government will continue to take steps that improve citizens’ lives and strengthen the nation, Shri Modi urged everyone to embrace swadeshi and proudly say, “This is swadeshi”—a mantra that should resonate in every home and marketplace. India’s space economy is projected to reach about $44 billion by 2033, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh said, underlining that landmark reforms and private sector participation are powering the country’s emergence as a global space player.

The summit brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and academia to deliberate on the future of satellite communications in India’s digital growth story.

Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasised that satellite communication will serve as the backbone of India’s digital infrastructure and play a decisive role in connecting remote regions where terrestrial networks face geographical barriers. With more than 70 per cent of new ATMs being installed in rural areas, he said satcom would be vital for ensuring financial inclusion and expanding digital services.

The Minister highlighted that India’s space economy, valued at $8.4 billion in 2022, is on track to expand nearly fivefold over the next decade. He credited reforms such as the creation of New Space India Limited (NSIL) and the establishment of IN-SPACe for dismantling decades of state monopoly and enabling private innovation. As a result, more than 300 space startups have emerged in just five years, making India the world’s fifth-largest space startup ecosystem.

India’s achievements have also been marked by cost-effective innovation. Chandrayaan-3’s historic soft landing near the Moon’s south pole in 2023 earned India global recognition, including the World Space Award, at roughly half the cost of comparable international missions. Commercially, India has launched 433 foreign satellites, generating over $190 million and €270 million in revenue.

Looking ahead, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s long-term space roadmap. By 2035, India plans to set up its own Bharatiya Antariksh Station, while by 2040, an Indian astronaut is expected to land on the Moon and announce the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.” The roadmap also envisages launching more than 100 satellites over the next 15 years, most of them small satellites developed through government-private partnerships.

The Minister also spoke of how space technology is shaping governance. Programs like SVAMITVA have already provided land ownership rights to more than 2.4 crore rural property owners across 1.61 lakh villages through satellite mapping. Satellites are now integral to disaster management, daily forest fire monitoring, and agricultural yield assessments, in addition to powering flagship schemes like Gati Shakti for infrastructure planning and NavIC for navigation.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said India’s space diplomacy was strengthening through missions such as the upcoming Chandrayaan-5 in collaboration with Japan and the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission. Neighbouring countries, too, are increasingly dependent on Indian satellites for disaster management and communication support.

“Seventy per cent of our space technology is dedicated to development and ease of living, not just rocket launches,” Dr. Jitendra Singh said, adding that the convergence of space technology, digital infrastructure, and governance would serve as the digital nervous system of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Concluding his address, the minister said India’s cost-effective missions, expanding private partnerships, and ambitious space roadmap are positioning the country as a global leader. “India’s space sector has earned for the country an enduring space in the world arena,” he remarked.

The event featured keynote addresses by Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe, and Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO and Secretary, Department of Space, who highlighted India’s expanding role in the global space sector. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, marking a collaborative beginning to discussions on advancing universal connectivity through satellite networks.

Prime Minister expresses gratitude to people as he enters 25th year of serving as head of a government

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed gratitude to the people of India as he enters the 25th year of serving as the head of a government. Recalling his journey since taking oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on this day in 2001, the Prime Minister said that it has been his constant endeavour to improve the lives of people and contribute to the progress of the nation.

The Prime Minister said that he was entrusted with the responsibility of being Gujarat’s Chief Minister in very testing circumstances. The state was suffering due to a massive earthquake that year and had also faced a super cyclone, successive droughts and political instability in the preceding years. He said these challenges strengthened the resolve to serve people and rebuild Gujarat with renewed vigour and hope.

Shri Modi remembered his mother’s words when he took oath as Chief Minister, that he should always work for the poor and never take a bribe. He said he had assured people that whatever he does will be with the best intent and inspired by the vision to serve the very last person in the queue.

Reflecting on his tenure in Gujarat, the Prime Minister said that at the time, people believed the state could never rise again. Farmers complained of lack of power and water, agriculture was in the doldrums and industrial growth was stagnant. He said that through collective effort, Gujarat transformed into a powerhouse of good governance. The state, once drought-prone, became a top performer in agriculture, trading expanded into manufacturing and industrial capacities, and social as well as physical infrastructure received a boost.

The Prime Minister said that in 2013, he was given the responsibility of being the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, when the nation was witnessing a crisis of trust and governance. He said the people of India gave a thumping majority to his alliance and an absolute majority to his Party, ushering in an era of renewed confidence and purpose.

The Prime Minister noted that over the last 11 years, India has achieved many transformations. Over 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, and the country has emerged as a bright spot among major global economies. He said that people across India, especially Nari Shakti, Yuva Shakti and hardworking Annadatas, have been empowered through path-breaking efforts and reforms.

He added that the popular sentiment today is to make India Aatmanirbhar across all sectors, reflected in the call of ‘Garv Se Kaho, Yeh Swadeshi Hai.’

Reiterating his gratitude to the people of India for their continuous trust and affection, the Prime Minister said that to serve the nation is the highest honour. Guided by the values of the Constitution, he reaffirmed his commitment to work even harder to realise the collective dream of a Viksit Bharat.

In a series of X post, the Prime Minister said;

“On this day in 2001, I took oath as Gujarat’s Chief Minister for the first time. Thanks to the continuous blessings of my fellow Indians, I am entering my 25th year of serving as the head of a Government. My gratitude to the people of India. Through all these years, it has been my constant endeavour to improve the lives of our people and contribute to the progress of this great nation that has nurtured us all.”

“It was in very testing circumstances that my Party entrusted me with the responsibility of being Gujarat CM. The state was suffering due to a massive earthquake in the same year. The preceding years had witnessed a super cyclone, successive droughts and political instability. Those challenges strengthened the resolve to serve people and rebuild Gujarat with renewed vigour and hope.”

“When I took oath as Chief Minister, I remember my Mother telling me – I do not have much understanding of your work but I only seek two things. First, you will always work for the poor and second, you will never take a bribe. I also told people that whatever I do will be with the best intent and will be inspired by a vision to serve the very last person in the queue.”

“These 25 years have been filled with many experiences. Together, we have made remarkable strides. I still recall that when I took over as CM, it was believed that Gujarat could never rise again. Common citizens, including farmers, complained about lack of power and water. Agriculture was in the doldrums and industrial growth was stagnant. From there, we all worked collectively to make Gujarat a powerhouse of good governance.”

“Gujarat, a drought-prone state became a top performing state in agriculture. The culture of trading expanded into robust industrial and manufacturing capacities. Regular curfews became a thing of the past. Social and physical infrastructure received a boost. It was very satisfying to be able to work with the people to achieve these outcomes.”

“In 2013, I was given the responsibility of being the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Those days, the nation was witnessing a crisis of trust and governance. The then UPA Government was synonymous with the worst form of corruption, cronyism and policy paralysis. India was seen as a weak link in the global order. But, the wisdom of the people of India gave our alliance a thumping majority and also ensured that our Party got an absolute majority, a first after 3 long decades.”

“Over the last 11 years, We The People of India have worked together and achieved many transformations. Our path breaking efforts have empowered people from all across India, especially our Nari Shakti, Yuva Shakti and hardworking Annadatas. Over 25 crore people have been removed from the clutches of poverty. India is seen as a bright spot among major global economies. We are home to one of the largest healthcare and social security schemes in the world. Our farmers are innovating and ensuring that our nation is self-reliant. We have undertaken extensive reforms and the popular sentiment is to make India Aatmanirbhar across all sectors, reflecting in the clarion call of ‘Garv Se Kaho, Yeh Swadeshi Hai.’”

“I once again thank the people of India for their continuous trust and affection. To serve our beloved nation is the highest honour, a duty that fills me with gratitude and purpose. With the values of our Constitution as my constant guide, I will work even harder in the times to come to realise our collective dream of a Viksit Bharat.”

This marks a revolution in India’s defence innovation landscape,” he added.

Raksha Mantri highlighted that before iDEX, Indian talent was making remarkable contributions globally particularly in IT, telecom and space but was underutilised in defence. “Through iDEX, we ensured that India’s talent works for India’s security. Today, this initiative is not just a programme but a movement that is shaping the future of Indian defence manufacturing,” he underlined.

Shri Rajnath Singh underscored that the Government has taken several landmark steps to support startups and MSMEs through reforms in defence procurement, production and testing infrastructure. Citing examples, he stated that the new Defence Procurement Manual (DPM-2025) provides assured orders for five years, extendable by another five, giving innovators much-needed stability and predictability. He further added that reforms in the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) are underway to simplify processes, accelerate trials, and ensure assured procurement for innovative solutions.

“Through iDEX, Technology Development Fund, Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme and Self-Certification provisions, we are developing a comprehensive framework where innovation is encouraged, supported, and scaled. Our aim is to make India not just a defence manufacturer but a defence innovator for the world,” underlining Shri Rajnath Singh while ensuring commitment to strengthening the defence innovation ecosystem.

Commending the achievements of iDEX winners such as Refi M. Fiber and Gravity Systems, who were honoured for their role in Operation Sindoor, Shri Rajnath Singh stated that the innovations developed by Indian startups are now earning global appreciation. “It is a matter of great pride when our soldiers salute the innovation born out of India’s own soil. Several Indian startups are now showcasing their game-changing technologies at international platforms such as the Dubai Airshow 2025. The world is taking note of India’s innovation prowess,” he added.

The Raksha Mantri highlighted that the MoD is forging strategic alliances with the Department of Science & Technology, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, and leading financial institutions to facilitate end-to-end support for startups. “Our objective is to build an ecosystem where every idea gets the opportunity to grow into a viable product, every prototype gets the chance to scale into production, and every innovation contributes to India’s defence preparedness,” he stated.

Shri Rajnath Singh pointed out that defence manufacturing under Aatmanirbhar Bharat has now become one of the most promising sectors for private investment, R&D and employment generation. He underscored that a strong indigenous defence industry is not only a strategic necessity but an economic multiplier.
