BJP National President’s address at the Victory Celebration in BJP HQ

ASSEMBLY ELECTION
RESULTS-2026

BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin addressed the victory celebrations at the BJP Central Office in New Delhi on 4 May 2026. In his address, Shri Nabin welcomed Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of all five poll-bound states for their overwhelming support. He also lauded the tireless dedication and commitment of BJP Karyakartas across the country.
Shri Nabin stated that the election, fought under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, was a decisive contest between trust and development on one side and politics of appeasement and misgovernance on the other. He said that the people of West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry had firmly chosen the politics of progress, proactiveness, and good governance by blessing the BJP and NDA with a massive mandate. He said the party workers fought fearlessly against political violence and intimidation, endured immense hardships, and made countless sacrifices in their commitment to strengthening democracy and ensuring the BJP’s historic victory in the state.

Addressing the jubilant party Karyakartas Shri Nitin Nabin said we are all gathered here today, and this is truly a historic moment for all of us. First and foremost — Jai Maa Kamakhya! Jai Maa Kali! Jai Maa Bharati!

Today, following the results of the Assembly elections in five states, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of all five states — our revered citizens — for the historic support they have bestowed upon us. I congratulate them for reposing their faith in our leadership, in the Bharatiya Janata Party, and in the NDA.

Results are before the nation

Friends, today is May 4, and the results are before the nation. Today, through a resounding mandate and an overwhelming victory, the people have fulfilled that aspiration. In every election, the people of this country have consistently worked toward giving the Bharatiya Janata Party a decisive mandate in state after state. They have once again reaffirmed their faith in the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi.

Unwavering trust and steadfast support

Today, as the election results of West Bengal, Assam, Puducherry, Keralam and Tamil Nadu have been declared, it has become abundantly clear that the people of this nation place unwavering trust and steadfast support in our leader and Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji. For this, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of the country.

BJP’s lotus will continue to bloom

At the same time, considering the manner in which our party is steadily strengthening its presence in South India, it is evident that the BJP’s lotus will continue to bloom across the South in the years to come. On the basis of today’s election results, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all our party karyakartas and senior leaders who have worked tirelessly for this victory.

Victory achieved through struggle

Friends, we can proudly say that this victory has been achieved through struggle and sacrifice. For years, West Bengal remained under Leftist rule, and thereafter, the Trinamool government subjected the people to an atmosphere marked by violence and authoritarianism. A climate of fear prevailed throughout the state.

Today, I pay homage to the sacrifices made by our party karyakartas. I bow before the mothers and sisters who lost their sons and husbands in this struggle, and I salute their spirit of sacrifice and dedication.

I am confident that under the leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the people of West Bengal have emerged from an atmosphere of fear into an era of trust, hope, and confidence. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our leader.

Pro-incumbency

Friends, people across the country often speak of “anti-incumbency” during elections. However, under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi and because of the performance of BJP governments, the national political discourse has now shifted toward “pro-incumbency.”

This is precisely why our governments in Assam and Puducherry have been re-elected. If you fulfil your promises of development and transform “Modi Ki Guarantee” into reality, the people stand firmly with you. That is why BJP governments continue to be re-elected in states such as Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar.

Through these results, the people have once again made it clear that the nation is moving forward with confidence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The affection, trust, and overwhelming support shown toward our leader during this election campaign clearly demonstrate that even after the 2024 General Elections, and even after twelve years in office, the people of India continue to repose the same faith, love, and confidence in Shri Narendra Modi.

Today, NDA-BJP governments are taking shape across the nation — from Gangotri to Gangasagar. Friends, this is not merely a geographical expansion; it is an expansion of the people’s trust in our leadership.

West Bengal turned decisively toward the BJP

I consider today’s victory in West Bengal significant in many respects. We often spoke of Kashmir — the land where our inspiration, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, made the supreme sacrifice. Through the abrogation of Article 370, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi fully integrated Kashmir with the rest of India. And today, I proudly say that West Bengal — the birthplace of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee — has also turned decisively toward the BJP. For this, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of West Bengal.

INDI Alliance will collapse

I firmly believe that the outcome of this election is a major setback for none other than the leader of the INDI Alliance, Rahul Gandhi. I assure you that after these results, the INDI Alliance will collapse like a house of cards.

Today, our beloved leader and successful Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, continues to inspire and guide us. The karyakartas of the Bharatiya Janata Party have already prepared themselves with complete dedication and an unwavering spirit of struggle for the challenges ahead. Starting tomorrow, we will once again dedicate ourselves to service and commitment as we begin preparations for the upcoming elections. We are karyakartas who do not rest even for a single day, because our leader inspires us to keep moving forward and to continue striving against all odds in every situation.

So let us celebrate this victory today, and from tomorrow onward, let us move ahead with renewed resolve to ensure that in the years to come, the BJP flag continues to fly high across the nation.

International Media

The pages in international publications were painted in orange hues as they reported the results of assembly elections in four states and one Union Territory. Most reports in foreign media focused primarily on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party’s electoral victory in West Bengal, ending Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year stronghold on the state

BBC

The BBC focused its coverage on the BJP wresting control of the opposition stronghold of West Bengal. In an article titled ‘Modi’s BJP conquers Bengal, one of India’s toughest political frontiers’, the British publication claimed the victory of the BJP in the eastern state “would rank among the most significant breakthroughs of Modi’s 12-year reign.”

“It is not merely the defeat of a three-term incumbent but the completion of the party’s long march into eastern India,” the article said…

The Guardian

The other major British daily, The Guardian, also focused on Bengal results, noting the state, which had been a rare opposition stronghold, unrivalled in the BJP’s consolidation of power across the country.

The article, titled “Narendra Modi’s BJP wins election in West Bengal for the first time”, said the Bengal assembly election results “will have significant implications for India’s political landscape and deal another demoralising blow to the already weakened opposition”…

New York Times

Across the ocean, in America, the New York Times, in a report titled “Modi’s Hindu Nationalists Conquer a Bastion of India’s Opposition”, termed the BJP’s performance in West Bengal ‘historic’. It said that PM Modi’s BJP “broke new ground Monday in its decades-long campaign to remake the world’s largest democracy, winning legislative elections in one of the country’s most populous states, where it has never before come close to ruling” …

The Washington Post

The Washington Post, in its coverage, said that the poll outcome in West Bengal was expected to boost PM Modi’s “standing and strengthen his position midway through his third term in office”.

“The 2024 national election forced his ruling party to rely on regional allies to form a government. He is expected to run for a record fourth term in 2029,” the article said. The report also focused on Kerala, where the Indian National Congress-led opposition defeated the ruling communist government, ending leftist rule in one of its last remaining strongholds…

The Dawn

In Pakistan, the Dawn carried the AFP report on the elections, which said PM Modi’s “nationalist party” swept to victory in key elections in “opposition-held West Bengal state, conquering a bastion long held by its adversary”. The report noted that the results should put PM Modi on “a stronger footing…
