Election results have rid the capital of “AAP-da”
In the recently concluded Assembly elections for Delhi, the BJP registered a landslide victory after a gap of 27 years and won the assembly election with significant numbers, defeating the corrupt Aam Aadmi Party from power. The results were announced on 08 February 2025. The NDA registered a resounding triumph with a two-thirds majority, winning 48 seats in the 70-seat assembly house with more than 47 percent vote share. While the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party got 22 seats taking a massive hit from its 2020 tally of 62 seats in Delhi. The AAP faced a severe rout after a decade of misrule and lost the election under rampant corruption, false promises made to the people, non-performance, and politics of anerchism, and chaos. Whereas, the Congress recorded three consecutive ducks with a meagre 6 percent vote share.
BJP which saw several obstacles created by AAP leaders, false allegations like ‘Water Poisoning’ and false propaganda throughout the poll campaign, finally secured its huge victory. The BJP, in comparison with the last assembly election, increased its vote share by around 9 percent and increased 40 seats. This will be the first time in four decades that a single party will govern all the National Capital Region (NCR) states, including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
During the election campaign, PM Shri Narendra Modi led the BJP from the front and motivated the party Karyakartas for victory. gigantic rallies changed the mood of the Karyakartas and voters. Along with the PM, the massive rallies and roadshows of BJP senior leaders like BJP National President and Union Minister Shri JP Nadda, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah and others helped the party to secure a comfortable win with a historic come back in Delhi.
The BJP kept up the tempo throughout the campaign. Its campaign was focused on cleaning Yamuna, making the Yamuna riverfront, reducing air pollution, and restoring the deteriorating quality of life, robust infrastructure, social security to women, and rapid development of Delhi among others. This effort was reflected in the results and BJP candidates cutting across caste, region, and religion won their respective seats. Even the Jhuggi seats which were considered the fort of AAP, were won by BJP.
As rightly said by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, “Delhi has chosen progress over an era of chaos”. PM Shri Modi guaranteed that in the very first Assembly session, the CAG report would be tabled in the House. “Every corruption link will be investigated, and those who looted will have to return what they stole. This too is Modi’s Guarantee”. Shri Modi said this victory comes with new responsibilities. He emphasised that the BJP guarantees reform and performance, and with the participation of every Delhi resident, the transformation will happen at an even faster pace.

However, this election will also be remembered for the colossal debacle of AAP-da which was thrown out of power by the people of Delhi, after serious charges of corruption, liquor scam, ‘Sheesh Mahal’ scam and severe allegations of rampant corruption in every department. Among the heavyweights, AAP national convener and former CM Arvind Kejriwal, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia, senior AAP leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj, Satyendra Jain, Durgesh Pathak, and many others bite the dust and, with it, the basic edifice of Arvind Kejriwal’s politics crumbled down.
Following the grand victory, Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva congratulated PM Shri Narendra Modi, BJP National President Shri JP Nadda, other senior leaders and party Karyakartas and said that the victory against the Aam Aadmi Party was expected as people’s anger at Kejriwal’s party was visible throughout due to their failure in governance and sheer corruption. He said that the party emerged successful in convincing people for a double-engine government under PM Shri Modi’s dynamic leadership.
The mandate of Delhi is clear. BJP’s victory is historic. The people of Delhi have driven out ‘AAP-da’. Delhi has been freed from the ‘AAP-da’. Development, vision and trust have won in Delhi and ostentation, anarchy, arrogance and the ‘AAP-da’ that had engulfed Delhi have been defeated.
