Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar sworn-in as Deputy Chief Ministers
In an impressive and glittering ceremony attended by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the leader of the Mahayuti Shri Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra on 05 December 2024. Shri Fadnavis, who was elected from Nagpur South-West constituency and unanimously elected as the state BJP Legislative Party leader at a meeting held in Mumbai on 04 December, took charge as the Chief Minister of the state for the third time. Along with Shri Fadnavis, Shiv Sena Chief Shri Eknath Shinde and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Shri Ajit Pawar took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers.
Maharashtra Governor Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chief Minister Shri Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis. After giving oath to the Chief Minister, the Governor administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shri Eknath Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde and Shri Ajit Ashatai Anantrao Pawar as Deputy Chief Ministers of the State.
The swearing-in ceremony at the Azad Maidan in Mumbai was a star-studded event, with several dignitaries from politics, business, sports, and the entertainment industry attended the ceremony. Thousands of NDA Karyakartas and supporters also gathered to witness the oath ceremony.
Noteworthy, in a grand victory the Mahayuti won a whopping 230 of 288 Assembly seats in the November 23 elections. The BJP emerged as the single largest party in the state polls, winning 132 seats, its highest-ever tally, while the Shiv Sena and NCP got 57 and 41, respectively.

LIFE SKETCH OF SHRI DEVENDRA FADNAVIS
• Shri Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis (Devendra Fadnavis) was born on 22 July 1970 in Nagpur, Maharashtra to Shri Gangadhar Fadnavis and Smt. Sarita Fadnavis.
• He holds an L.L.B degree from Nagpur University, completed in 1992. He also has a postgraduate degree in Business Management and a Diploma in Methods and Techniques of Project Management from the Free University of Berlin, Germany completed in the year 1998.
• Shri Fadnavis began his political career in the mid-nineties. As a college student, he was an active member of the RSS and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
• In the year 1992 at the age of 22 he became a Corporator. 5 years later, in 1997, Shri Fadnavis at 27 became the youngest mayor of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
• Marking his formal entry into state politics Shri Fadnavis elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1999.
• Since 1999, Shri Fadnavis has been representing Nagpur in the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra State (Vidhan Sabha).
• He became the President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Maharashtra from 11 April 2013 – 6 January 2015.
• Shri Fadnavis for the first time became Chief Minister of Maharashtra for a period of five years from 2014−2019. He became Chief Minister at the age of 44, making him the second-youngest in Maharashtra’s history.
• For the Second term he became the Chief Minister on 23 November 2019; however, this government only lasted for a few days.
• On 30 June 2022, Shri Fadnavis took oath as the 9th Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra with Shri Eknath Shinde as the Chief Minister.
• Following a massive victory on 23 November, Shri Devendra Fadnavis was elected as Maharashtra BJP Legislative Party Leader on 04 December 2024.
• He took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the 3rd time in Mumbai on 05 December 2024.

Deputy Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states like Shri Pawan Kalyan (Andhra Pradesh) attended the event.
Industrialists Shri Mukesh Ambani, Shri Noel Tata, Shri Kumarmangalam Birla and Bollywood stars Shri Shah Rukh Khan, Shri Salman Khan, Shri Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Sanjay Dutt and cricket legend Shri Sachin Tendulkar were among the attendees. Diplomats from several countries were also present on the occasion.
After taking oath Shri Devendra Fadnavis said, “I bow before Maharashtra. With Maharashtra’s blessings, sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji at Azad Maidan, Mumbai”.
Shri Fadnavis said we will provide a stable government over the next five years, and the State under the Mahayuti government will see politics of change and not revenge. Deputy CM Shri Shinde said, “I will extend all possible cooperation to CM Fadnavis and will work as a team”.
CM Shri Fadnavis and both the Deputy CMs also offered humble floral tributes at the portraits of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rajmata Jijau MaSaheb, Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule and the Preamble of the Constitution of India at the Mantralaya in Mumbai.
