Late Shri Harishankar Tiwari did his Post Graduate in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University in 1957. As a student, he was an active member and worker of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. During that time, roaming around villages, he was engaged in the work of strengthening the Jana Sangh. He actively participated in the underground movement during the Emergency. In 1980, he contested elections from the Ramnagar Vidhan Sabha constituency of West Champaran under the Bharatiya Janata Party. He also took an active role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, and continued to work for the party and motivate the party workers till the last days of his life. He passed away on 23 June 2015.
