Shri Shah formally announced an alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections in 2026. Shri Shah declared that the BJP will contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections under the leadership of AIADMK. He stated that the people of Tamil Nadu will expose the DMK’s politics of corruption and scams, and will elect the BJP-AIADMK alliance to victory.

As far as NDA allies are concerned, all decisions will be taken jointly by the AIADMK and BJP within Tamil Nadu. The inclusion of AIADMK in the NDA is beneficial not only for the alliance but also for the AIADMK. The distribution of seats and allocation of ministries post-election will be finalized in consultation with alliance partners at an appropriate time.

DMK plagued by rampant corruption

Union Home Minister launched a scathing attack on the DMK, stating that the party continues to raise issues like Sanatana Dharma and the three-language policy with the sole intent of diverting public attention from core governance failures. The DMK government in Tamil Nadu is plagued by rampant corruption, atrocities against Dalits and women, and a complete breakdown of law and order. Under Stalin’s leadership, the state has witnessed multiple scams, including the Rs. 39,000 crore liquor scam. The public is now demanding answers from Stalin.

BJP takes immense pride in Tamil language

Shri Amit Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party takes immense pride in the Tamil language, culture, and people and holds them in high regard. It was Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who honoured Tamil Nadu’s rich heritage by installing the ‘Sengol’ in the new Parliament building, something the DMK never even proposed. Shri Narendra Modi launched the Kashi Tamil Sangamam and the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam to celebrate the deep cultural ties. It was also under his leadership that the traditional Tamil martial art ‘Silambam’ was included in the Khelo India initiative. Shri Modi established the Central Institute of Classical Tamil with an investment of Rs. 25 crore and set up a Tamil Chair at the University of Houston in the USA. The government has also worked on translating the Thirukkural into various languages, completing translations in 63 so far.
