–PM Modi led from the front to ensure that India conducted Operation Sindoor to appropriately avenge the Pahalgam attack.
–Despite being abroad for a planned foreign visit at the time of the attack, he immediately took charge and planned India’s appropriate response.
Meticulous Planning and Appropriate Response
–PM Modi did not succumb to the overwhelming pressure for an immediate response to the attack.
–He ensured that each action-from suspending the Indus Water Treaty to military action- was taken with meticulous planning and executed at the appropriate moment.
–On the day of the attack itself, there was a near consensus that India would avenge the attack. This led to concerns that Pakistan and terror groups would pre-empt an attack and effectively counter it. Modi deployed appropriate smokescreens and ensuring that despite confidence, nobody could predict the date for India’s response.
–The focus of the attack only on terrorist targets has been widely appreciated. Even a critic like P Chidambaram praised PM and said he wisely chose a calibrated military response limited to selected nine targets believed to be the core infrastructure of terrorist groups.
PM Modi remained focus on acting against terrorism
–Throughout this engagement with Pakistan, PM Modi ensured that the objective remained the same: assertive response to Pakistan.
–The support extended by global community has been made possible by Modi’s steady focus on eliminating terrorism, a global challenge.
Assertive response rather than pre-emptive attack
–Despite repeated provocations from Pakistan and explicit attacks on civilians in India, PM Modi ensured that India did not attack civilians in Pakistan, in any way whatsoever.
–His approach has been consistent since the beginning of the engagement. India’s military responses in the past few days have been targeted either at terror bases or Pakistani military establishments aiding or supporting action on civilians in India.
Resolving old historic issues and future preparedness
–From time to time, several voices had echoed concern about unbalanced Indus Water Treaty. Putting the treaty in abeyance was a historic step taken by PM.
–This will not only cause damage to Pakistan but will also prove beneficial for people of our country.
–PM also set up a new doctrine stating that any future terror attack will be construed as an act of war. This has set the tone and tenor of all future actions and shredded the notion that terrorists are separate from terrorist backers.
India was always correct
–The aftermath of the Pahalgam attack is another instance when PM Modi ensured that every action that he undertook was legally and morally correct.
–History will remember India’s response to Pahalgam as measured and principled.
