Maharashtra & Jharkhand Assembly Election Results-2024
In the recently concluded Assembly elections for Maharashtra and Jharkhand, the Mahayuti registered a historic landslide victory consecutively for the third time in Maharashtra. The results were announced on 23 November 2024. The ruling Mahayuti alliance comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (SHS), and NCP sailed past the halfway mark very comfortably and scripting history won 230 seats with around 48.16 percent vote share in the 288-member Assembly house. The Mahayuti, decimated the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) handing over a humiliating defeat and leaving it much behind with only 46 seats and 33 percent of the total votes. The majority mark in the Maharashtra Assembly is 145.
In a spectacular performance with 132 seats and 26.77 percent vote share individually, the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the state, whereas, the Mahayuti allies like Shiv Sena (SHS) got 57 seats with a vote percent of 12.38 and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won 41 seats with a vote percent of 9.01.
Likewise, the opposition Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) got 20 seats, the Indian National Congress 16 and the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar won 10 seats.
Breaking all previous records, this time Maharashtra voted enthusiastically registering a voter turnout of more than 65 percent which was not seen in the last three decades. The BJP-led Mahayuti combindly got about 48.16 percent of the total vote share. In the Konkan, North Maharashtra and Western Maharashtra regions, its vote share even crossed the halfway mark.
On the one hand the Mahayuti increased its vote share across all regions, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi saw its support decline across the State. The BJP alone got 132 seats of the 149 seats it constated, which is nearly a majority in the 288-strong Assembly, and the tally of the alliance is nearly five times that of the MVA which was limited to 46 seats for all its partners combined.
Among others, Samajwadi Party and Jan Surajya Shakti got two seats each, Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, AIMIM, CPI(M), PWPI, Rajarshi Shahu Vikas Aghadi got one seat each, while Independents won two seats.
Maharashtra- the land of great people like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shahuji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, Savitribai Phule, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Veer Savarkar, Balasaheb Thackeray, have broken all previous election records. This is the biggest victory for any party or pre-poll alliance in over 50 years. This is the third time a BJP-led alliance has been chosen by the people of Maharashtra.
As rightly said by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this massive victory of the Mahayuti in Maharashtra was undoubtedly the triumph of development, good governance, and genuine social justice. Similarly, the forces of deception, divisive politics, and family dynasty have been defeated and decimated.
Undoubtedly, the historic third consecutive victory of the Mahayuti alliance is a reflection of the unwavering faith of the people on the public welfare policies and good governance of the double engine government under the visionary and charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.


Likewise, in Jharkhand, the JMM-led alliance returned to power once again with its allies. The coalition won 56 seats in the 81-member assembly. Hemant Soren’s JMM won 34 seats, while its ally Congress bagged 16 seats. On the otherhand, the BJP led NDA got 24 seats.
Following the results, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi thanked the people of Jharkhand and promised to work harder for the people of the state.
In a post on X, the PM said, ‘I thank the people of Jharkhand for their support towards us. We will always be at the forefront of raising people’s issues and working for the state. I also congratulate the JMM-led alliance for their performance in the state. @HemantSorenJMM”
BJP National President and Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda also congratulated the new government in Jharkhand and in his message he said, “We accept the mandate received in the Jharkhand assembly elections. In democracy, the instructions of the people are paramount.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is always committed to the development of Jharkhand and the respect, security and prosperity of Roti, Beti and Maati. We will continue to raise issues in the interest of the people including tribal brothers and sisters.

Development wins: PM Modi

After the massive victory of the BJP-led Mahayuti in Maharashtra, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has expressed gratitude to the people for bringing the Mahayuti back with its biggest mandate ever.
In a post on the X, the PM said, “Development wins! Good governance wins! United we will soar even higher!
Heartfelt gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Maharashtra, especially the youth and women of the state, for a historic mandate to the NDA. This affection and warmth is unparalleled. I assure the people that our Alliance will keep working for Maharashtra’s progress. Jai Maharashtra!”

Following the gigantic victory in Maharashtra, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah hailed the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modiji and ‘Politics of Performance’ of the government.
