The Government of India’s mobile application “Meri Panchayat” received the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 Champion Award under the category “Cultural Diversity and Identity, Linguistic Diversity and Local Content”
Awarded at the WSIS+20 High-Level Event held in Geneva from 7–11 July 2025, the honour was officially presented to Union Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh) at a ceremony in New Delhi on 21 July 2025. The event was attended by Minister of State Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj, and other senior officials.
Meri Panchayat, launched by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the National Informatics Centre (NIC), is a pioneering m‑governance platform serving over 25 lakh elected representatives and 950 million rural residents across 2.65 lakh Gram Panchayats. The app offers features like real‑time access to budgets, payments, Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs), public infrastructure data, social audits, grievance redressal (geo‑tagged/fenced), multilingual support in 12+ Indian languages, local weather forecasts, and participation tools such as project proposals and Gram Sabha agendas.
