DMK and Congress government has indulged only in corruption: Nitin Nabin

| Published on:

Hon’ble Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Nitin Nabin addressed a massive public  meeting in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu on Sunday and accused the DMK government of  corruption, dynastic politics, and misgovernance, and strongly criticized it over rising crime and  the spread of drugs in the state. During the program, Shri Sudhakar Reddy, Shri Muralidharan,  NDA candidate Shri GBS Nagendran, and former MP Shri Sarath Kumar, along with other party  officials and leaders, were present on the stage. Prior to this, Hon’ble BJP National President hold  a massive roadshow in Sattur. The roadshow witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with a sea of  saffron flags fluttering at every corner, signaling a massive wave of support for the BJP.

Shri Nabin stated that elections are being held in five states across the country, including Tamil  Nadu, and there is a wave in favor of the NDA everywhere. DMK and Congress governments in  Tamil Nadu have only engaged in corruption and have forced the poor people of the state into  deeper hardship. In this election, the people of Tamil Nadu should uproot such a government. Drug and gold mafias are active across the state and that the current government is endangering  the future of the youth by allowing the spread of substance abuse. Shri Nabin asserted that the  NDA is fighting against this menace and will work towards removing the government and ensuring  a better future for the youth.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that the DMK MLA from Ramanathapuram is involved in  corruption, promoting drug-related activities, and has failed to deliver any meaningful  development. The people of Ramanathapuram should teach such corrupt leaders a lesson in this  election by electing the NDA candidate and removing them from power. Under the leadership of  Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, houses are being provided to the poor under the  Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and more than 3 crore houses have been built so far, including  over 13 lakhs in Tamil Nadu. It is unfortunate that the state leadership and leaders of the Dravida  Munnetra Kazhagam are not concerned about providing housing to the poor but are instead  focused on building palatial homes for themselves. He emphasized that if anyone is truly  concerned about ensuring housing for the poor, it is Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi  Ji.

Shri Nabin stated that the Chief Minister and MLAs of the DMK should be questioned about how  the ₹10 lakh crore debt taken over the past five years was utilized. Despite such massive  borrowing, no meaningful development took place, no housing was built for the poor, roads were  not constructed, healthcare facilities were not improved, and no community buildings were  created. The funds were lost in corruption and did not reach the poor. Referring to data, he noted  that around 8,900 murders occurred in the state, including 32 custodial deaths, and held M. K.  Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin responsible, they pushed Tamil Nadu towards decline instead of  development. No action was taken in these cases and claimed that cybercrime has increased  manifold. DMK government is allowing youth to be drawn into criminal activities and further  remarked that anti-national elements were influencing educational institutions, diverting young  people away from education towards crime and extremism.

Hon’ble BJP National President asserted that in Kallakurichi, 68 innocent people lost their lives  after consuming spurious liquor, but the Chief Minister did not take time to meet the affected  families or console them. No strict action was taken afterward and those involved continued to  operate under protection while paying commissions to the ruling establishment. In  Tirupparankundram, the tradition of “Deepam” was halted by the government, forcing devotees  to approach the Supreme Court of India to secure permission for pooja. DMK government is  opposing and disrespecting Sanatan traditions and religious practices. M. K. Stalin and  Udhayanidhi Stalin have repeatedly disrespected Sanatan traditions and deities and said that the  time has come for the people to respond. He asserted that the public of Tamil Nadu would hold  such actions accountable and urged them to vote for the NDA on April 23 to remove the DMK  from power.

Shri Nabin said that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and his son had compared Sanatan Dharma  to diseases like dengue and malaria, while Rahul Gandhi remained silent on the issue. Rahul  Gandhi speaks about Sabarimala when in Kerala but avoids speaking on the issue of Deepam  when in Tamil Nadu, accusing him of acting under the influence of the DMK. Tamil Nadu is home to sacred places like Rameswaram and Meenakshi Temple, where traditions of Sanatan Dharma  are preserved, with women actively participating in rituals and offering blessings. In contrast,  certain ministers and MPs in the state have disrespected these traditions and t the time has come  to hold them accountable. Shri Nabin further stated that states governed by the NDA’s “double  engine” model are progressing towards development, whereas Tamil Nadu has fallen behind due  to corruption. Scams and irregularities have affected the earnings of hardworking poor citizens,  pushing the state backward on development indicators. Corruption has led to the loss of jobs for  around 5 lakh youth, increasing unemployment. There has been a ₹5,000 crore scam related to  sand and illegal mining over the past five years and asserted that once a “double engine”  government is formed, those responsible will be held accountable and sent to jail.

Hon’ble BJP National President stated that the family of M. K. Stalin is involved in scams and has  contributed to the spread of drugs across Tamil Nadu, claiming that this is negatively impacting  the youth. DMK has limited power to a single family, tracing leadership from M. Karunanidhi to  M.K. Stalin, and that the position is now being reserved for his son. According to this pattern, no  person from an ordinary background can become Chief Minister in the party and asserted that  leadership remains confined to the Karunanidhi family. Shri Nabin also criticized Udhayanidhi  Stalin for remarks against long-standing traditions, stating that such actions should be held  accountable. When an NDA government is formed on 4th May, action would be taken against  those responsible.

Shri Nabin said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has been consistently providing  projects worth thousands of crores for the development of Tamil Nadu. Recently, projects worth  ₹4,400 crore in Madurai and ₹5,650 crore in Tiruchirappalli were initiated. Hon’ble Prime Minister  has sanctioned railway projects worth ₹35,000 crore and allocated ₹8,000 crore for Chennai  Metro Phase-2. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, around 41 lakh women have been  provided LPG gas connections, which reflects the commitment of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri  Narendra Modi Ji towards the people of Tamil Nadu. Through Kashi Tamil Sangamam, respect  and cultural connection for Tamil Nadu have increased across the country. Drawing parallels, he  said that just as Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Mahakal Lok have been developed, similar efforts  would be made to develop Rameswaram. DMK government has disrespected the sanctity of Agni  Theertham, a sacred site where devotees perform ritual bathing before offering prayers. He  appealed to the people of Ramanathapuram to elect the NDA candidate, assuring that the sanctity  of the site would be restored with due respect.

Hon’ble BJP National President stated that despite receiving crores of rupees under the Jal  Jeevan Mission, people in Tamil Nadu are still facing a severe water crisis. In many places there  is waterlogging, broken roads, and ponds and water bodies have fallen victim to corruption. The  NDA government is committed to ensuring that every household in Tamil Nadu receives clean  drinking water once it comes to power. During tensions in West Asia involving Iran and United  States, several fishermen were stranded, but under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri  Narendra Modi Ji, more than 700 fishermen were safely brought back, including over 50 from  Ramanathapuram. The Hon’ble Prime Minister not only ensures the safety of citizens within the  country but also works with full commitment for the security of Indians abroad. The NDA  government is dedicated to providing Tamil Nadu with a safe, stable, and all-round development  model, with a focus on empowering women, farmers, fishermen, and youth.

Shri Nabin said that they have received information about Indian fishermen being stranded in Sri  Lanka. Party Karyakartas have contacted the Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, who is also  making continuous efforts to ensure the safe return of the fishermen. The NDA government is  committed to developing Rameswaram as a world-class international tourist destination. Clean  drinking water will be provided to every household, housing will be ensured for the poor, and new  employment opportunities will be created for the youth. Shri Nabin appealed to the people of Tamil  Nadu to form a “double engine” government in the state under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime  Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.
