Hon’ble Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah today addressed a range of rallies at Siliguri, Salboni, Kulti, and Chandipur in poll-bound West Bengal.
Shri Shah said this time the BJP government will be formed in Bengal, and it is time to say goodbye to Mamata Banerjee. But within 6 months of the formation of the BJP government, there will be smiles of satisfaction on the faces of Gorkha people because we are resolving the decades-old issues of the Gorkhas. The Congress and the TMC have inflicted injustice on Darjeeling and the Gorkha people. We understand the issues faced by the Gorkhas, and this is the reason why no party other than the BJP can resolve the issues faced by them.
This election is about freeing Bengal from the crimes of TMC and freeing North Bengal and Darjeeling from injustices. Entire Bengal has decided that the time to remove Didi has come. BJP will alleviate all the injustices meted out by TMC. This election is not about electing an MLA. This election is about securing the women across Bengal. Under the Mamata Banerjee government the women of Bengal faced terrible atrocities. Sandeshkhali incidents have brought immense shame to Bengal. Whether it is the innocent minor in Matigoda, the tribal woman in Bagdogra, or the rape in Durgapur Medical College, South Kolkata Law College, or RG Kar Medical College, we will send every rapist to jail one by one.
Mamata Banerjee has allocated a budget of Rs.2,000 crore for North Bengal, Gorkhas, and the tribes, but Rs.5,800 crore for Muslims and Madrassas. This injustice can not go on any longer. Mamata Banerjee destroyed the glorious history of the Gorkhas. This is the time to end injustice against the Gorkhas. I want to say that Darjeeling has to hold accountable the Congress, TMC, and the Communists for inflicting injustice on Subhash Ghising.
After becoming the home minister of India, I called for three meetings for the solution of the Gorkha problem. But neither Mamata Banerjee nor her representative ever attended the meetings. We appointed an interlocutor for the solution who met all the Gorkha leaders and the government officials. We will give the solution to the Gorkhas the way they want. We have planned for the revival of the tea industry. We will not let them sell.

The NJP Railway Station is being developed. We will also ensure that our Gorkha brothers visit Kashi Vishwanath in bullet trains. We are also planning to build an alternative railway for Darjeeling. The Bagdogra airport is being built anew with Rs.3,000 crore, and before December 2027 it will be recognized as India’s seventh biggest airport. We have handed over Kharsang Eastern Forest Rangers College to IIFM to make it a research institute. The MBA courses related to forestry will also be made available here.
We will build a new national highway from Darjeeling to Sunderban. Once the BJP government is formed, we will set up an AIIMS in North Bengal. We will build a 500-bed cancer hospital for North Bengal. We will set up IIT and IIM in North Bengal and a sports university for Gorkha youths. A tribal university is going to be built, and Darjeeling will be developed as an ecotourism and adventure hub. We will remove infiltrators one by one. We will set up 4 industrial towns and give government employees the benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission and DA. Women will be given Rs.3,000 every month, and unemployed youths will be given Rs.3,000 per month. In the tea gardens, schools will be built, tea garden laborers will be given land, and their wages will be increased to Rs. 500. Women will be given free rides in government buses, and everyone will be given free medical care up to Rs. 5 lakh. The widows, senior citizens, and handicapped will be given Rs.2,000 and we will revive the jute mills. Most importantly, we will end the syndicate. If after the 5th of May they trouble any citizen, they will be fixed. I also warn the goons of TMC not to trouble anyone during the voting day, or else they will have to face the consequences after the 5th of May. They are also peddling the fake narrative that the welfare schemes will be shut down after BJP forms a government. But I assure you that none of these schemes will be withdrawn. We will implement them along with the other schemes. Thousands of cases have been filed against our Gorkha brothers to suppress the Gorkha movement. Once our government is formed, we will withdraw all of these cases and also ensure a solution that will ensure that they will no longer have to continue their movement. Now you all need to determine to oust the government that has inflicted so much injustice on you and form a government under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
Mamata Banerjee’s misrule has stopped the furnaces of Kulti that once supplied iron to entire India and the world. We will increase the MSP of rice to Rs. 3,100 per quintal and will increase the yearly payout for farmers to Rs. 9,000 from Rs. 6,000. All of us know that Mamata Banerjee sold jobs. But we will give jobs to youths in a transparent manner—1 lakh jobs per year. We will vaccinate every woman in Bengal.
Mamata Banerjee was involved in the cash-for-query scam, teachers’ appointment scam, SSC scam, nagar palika appointment scam, cow smuggling, PDS scam, MGNREGA scam, and PM Awas scam. They may think that they are saved. But wait for the right time. Once the BJP government is formed, we will send them to jail one by one. Once the BJP government is formed, we will hand over the land to the BSF to build fences along the border. We will make the border foolproof. Mamata Banerjee has no concerns for the youth of Bengal.
