Hon’ble BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin addressed a public meeting held in Morigaon, and Bokakhat in Assam on Monday. While referring the significant transformation, cultural pride, and development journey witnessed in Assam over the past 10 years, he said that Assam will once again bless the BJP and further strengthen this pace of development under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji & our Assam CM, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma ji. Shri Nabin stated that just as we say ‘A for Apple’, now there should also be ‘A for Assam’. The letter ‘A’ is linked with the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat, and with this spirit, rapid work is being carried out towards making Assam self-reliant. Assam BJP State President and MP Shri Dilip Saikia, Assam Government Minister Shri Pijush Hazarika, Dr. Tapan Das, Shri Anil Saikia, and other senior leaders were present on the stage.
Shri Nabin stated that the massive turnout of people today clearly indicates that even before the elections, the public has made up its mind to ensure victory for the BJP, and that the people of Assam stand firmly with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma. The election must be fought with full determination and that the margin of 77,000 votes achieved in the last Lok Sabha election should be increased further. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is working across the country with the resolve to make women “Lakhpati Didis,” and under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government is also continuously making efforts to empower women and make them self-reliant. Since the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister are deeply committed to the welfare of mothers and sisters, the people of Assam should ensure a decisive victory for NDA candidates, including Pijush Hazarika, by electing them with a large margin.
Hon’ble BJP National President said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji interacted with booth presidents across Assam and clearly stated in his address how, over the past 10 years, Assam has progressed with development, trust, and its heritage moving together. A decade ago, Assam was known for violence, migration, and investors leaving the state. In contrast, today Assam is being discussed for its new possibilities, renewed hope, and its rapid pace of development. It was further stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji highlighted how mothers, sisters, and youth are continuously contributing to the progress of Assam, and that the consistent support and blessings of the people have ensured sustained momentum in the state’s development.
Shri Nabin stated that the confidence of the people of Assam has naturally increased, as today housing schemes for the poor are being implemented, women have received gas connections, and permanent houses have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Under the Ayushman scheme, the poor are receiving free healthcare, which shows that the people of Assam are getting the support and affection of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. This is perhaps the first time a Prime Minister has visited the North East more than 50 times, whereas earlier it was considered surprising if Prime Ministers visited even once in five years. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji not only visits but brings new projects and schemes for the people of Assam every time. Some people accuse BJP of appeasement politics, but when it comes to giving the people of Assam their rights, it is labeled as appeasement. When efforts are made to provide land rights, housing, and development schemes, those too are called appeasement. Congress stands with infiltrators, while BJP stands with the people of Assam.
Launching scathing attacks on Congress, Shri Nitin Nabin asserted that Congress pushed Assam into an era of migration through infiltrators and turned the entire state into a “chicken neck,” opening routes for Bangladeshi infiltration. The people of Assam deserve credit for forming a BJP government, which is now working to show these infiltrators the way out. Some people claim BJP makes tough decisions, but if such decisions are required for the protection of the nation, its security, and the safety of mothers and sisters, the party will not hesitate, as it is accountable to its people. If BJP is called strict, it is because it aims to ensure women’s safety, provide employment to youth, support farmers, and create new investment opportunities in the state. Times have changed. Earlier, leaders like Rahul Gandhi did not hesitate to wear symbolic attire like a skullcap, but today the people of Assam are ready to hold accountable those who disrespect their identity. It was also mentioned that during a recent Republic Day program, when Rahul Gandhi was presented with the traditional Assamese gamosa, he removed it and set it aside. The people of Assam should recognize those who do not respect Assam’s symbols, culture, and heritage.
Hon’ble BJP National President said that under no circumstances can those who play with the symbols and dignity of Assam be forgiven. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji often emphasizes that just as “A for Apple” is taught, “A for Assam” should also be recognized, and the story of development should begin from Assam. The idea of “A” is linked with Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and along with this, the goal has been set to make Assam self-reliant. In this direction, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma are continuously bringing investment, and are working to make mothers and sisters self-reliant by enabling them to stand on their own feet and providing opportunities for self-employment. This transformation was described as significant, and it was stated that through such change, the vision of a “Viksit Assam” can be realized. Around 10 years ago, during Congress governments, incidents of violence were frequent and the common person lived under stress. Reference was made to visits to Assam since 2009–10, when Dilip Saikia was the Youth Morcha president, and the speaker was in charge of Assam. A “Shaheed Shraddhanjali Yatra” was taken out from Guwahati to Tawang–Bomdila to pay tribute to the martyrs of 1962. At that time, the then Prime Minister treated Assam merely as a piece of land and left it with the remark that “our sentiments are with the people of Assam.”
Shri Nabin stated that today Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji states that 140 crore citizens are his strength, his energy, and his family, whereas the Prime Minister of that time had described a population of 35 crore as a challenge. This, it was said, reflects the difference between the leadership of Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi Ji and that of the Congress. When the Congress leadership is described as compromised, it is based on specific reasoning. Reference was made to how the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh were left during the time of the China war. During that period, the Congress government believed that building roads along the borders would allow enemy forces to enter, whereas today, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the approach is to build roads, helipads, and airports up to the borders. Today soldiers are encouraged to take firm decisions with the assurance that the Government of India stands firmly behind them. The policy now is not to concede even an inch of land. Reference was also made to past instances, including claims about land being ceded during the time of Jawaharlal Nehru and incidents during the tenure of Manmohan Singh where strong responses were lacking. Today, if any extremist attempts to harm the dignity of citizens, the government responds firmly, and actions like “Operation Sindoor” are presented as examples of a strong response. When policy, intent, and leadership are aligned, the ability to take decisive action becomes evident.
Hon’ble BJP National President said that where there is no leadership, no clear intent, and no defined policies, leadership like that of Rahul Gandhi is seen, which, according to him, compromises national policies and security. There are some people in Assam who focus on securing foreign citizenship for their children but do not show concern for the people of Assam, even while talking about opening schools in the state. When such leaders had the opportunity, they did not prioritize education for the people of Assam, instead ensuring education for their own children abroad, and that the public will respond to this. The BJP government in Assam has delivered the benefits of various schemes to the people. Under the Orunodoi scheme, 40 lakh beneficiaries are receiving ₹1,250 per month as financial assistance. The decision to establish a major semiconductor hub in Assam has been taken by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, which was described as a significant decision. Only a few states have received such an opportunity, and Assam being among them reflects the Prime Minister’s focus on the state. Such developments create large-scale employment opportunities, reducing the need for youth to migrate and enabling them to find opportunities within Assam. Referring to infrastructure, it was said that earlier there was a distinction between North and South Guwahati across the Brahmaputra, but after the construction of the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, the region is seen as more integrated. This was cited as an example of reducing distances and connecting people, reflecting the approach of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the BJP government.
Shri Nabin stated that while at one time Assam had only 6 medical colleges, today more than 14 medical colleges have been established, and work on 10 new colleges is in progress. This reflects that along with improved healthcare facilities, large-scale employment opportunities are also being created for the people of Assam. There was a time when, during the tenure of Shri Dilip Saikia as Assam BJP state president, people from Assam had to be sent to Bihar for treatment. Even in cases of minor fractures, people often had to travel to Patna. However, in the last 10 years, he has not received a single such call from Shri Dilip Saikia regarding medical assistance, as adequate healthcare facilities are now available within Assam itself, and people are receiving treatment locally. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has also given Assam the first gift of the Vande Bharat sleeper train. Today, the consistent benefits of various schemes reaching the people of Assam clearly reflect the efforts of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Chief Minister maintains a close connection with every individual, and BJP MLAs also share a direct bond with the people. BJP does not merely build personal connections with people but fosters relationships like a family, standing with them in times of both happiness and hardship. Recalling the COVID-19 period, it was mentioned that while leaders and workers of other parties distanced themselves, BJP Karyakartas stepped forward with a spirit of service to help every needy person. During that crisis, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji stood firmly with the entire nation. When the issue of vaccines arose, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji clearly stated that citizens would not have to pay for vaccines and that free vaccination would be provided to all, ensuring that no poor person would have to take a loan for it. Such a decision was only possible under the leadership of a leader like Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.
Hon’ble BJP National President asserted that times are changing and Assam is steadily moving towards becoming a developed state. Through the concept of a double-engine government, development is being taken to new heights across all states of India, and Assam is also benefiting significantly from this approach. Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma is continuously working to introduce new schemes, while state ministers are ensuring their effective implementation on the ground. Through the semiconductor industry, along with “Make in India,” the spirit of “Made in Assam” is also being promoted, and consistent efforts are being made in this direction. Recently, work has begun on developing a modern township in Jagiroad at a cost of ₹5,923 crore. Once the semiconductor project is completed, Assam will gain a new smart city, creating fresh investment opportunities. The large turnout of people at the event reflects their strong support for the government. BJP government in Assam has worked closely with the people and stood with them in both good and difficult times, which is why the public is also standing firmly with the government today. It is important to ensure that the past does not return, and people should not forget those who held the state back in the race for development. This is the same Assam that was once known for insurgency, border insecurity, and fear among investors, where the dreams of youth often remained unfulfilled. Today, however, people have come together with a shared resolve to build a developed, strong, and secure Assam.
Shri Nabin, recalling the bravery of Lachit Borphukan, the divine Shakti of Kamakhya Temple, and the energy of the Brahmaputra, called upon the people to move forward with a strong resolve for Assam’s development. We must move ahead with the spirit that Assam will never bow, never stop, and will always continue to progress. Elections are scheduled to be held on April 9, and this day will give a new momentum to Assam’s development. BJP National President urged all mothers, sisters, and citizens of Assam that the party will work with a spirit of service in return for the support they have shown. Every BJP candidate will serve the people as a dedicated servant of the public. Shri Nabin appealed to the people to ensure a decisive victory for the BJP on April 9 and to fulfill the resolve of a “Viksit Assam” under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma.
