The Trinamool government has turned Bengal into a hub of extortion, appeasement, mafia rule, corruption, and “cut money”: Nitin Nabin

Hon’ble Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Nitin Nabin addressed the Sports Club Meeting in Uttar Malda and Public Rally held in Chakulia, West Bengal on Thursday. Shri Nabin called upon the people to uproot the Trinamool Congress from the state and form a Bharatiya Janata Party government. During the event, Member of Parliament Shri Khagen Murmu, Uttar Pradesh Minister Shri Swatantra Dev Singh, Member of Parliament Shri Kartik Chandra Pal, Bihar Minister Shri Dilip Jaiswal, State General Secretary Shri Vijay Goswami, Chakulia BJP candidate Shri Manoj Jain, Goalpokhar candidate Shri Surajit Biswas, Islampur candidate Shri Chitrajit Roy, along with other office bearers and leaders, were present on the stage.

Shri Nabin asserted that the people of West Bengal have made up their minds that this time the lotus will bloom in the state and what he described as an anarchic and oppressive government will be removed. This election is clearly between two sides: on one side, a government of fear, corruption, and disorder, and on the other, the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, which has the trust of people across the country. West Bengal, which has a glorious history associated with great personalities like Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Swami Vivekananda, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Syama Prasad Mookerjee, has faced prolonged neglect and decline. First Congress, then the Left, and now the Trinamool Congress have, in his view, contributed to the deterioration of Bengal’s heritage and culture, adding that the current phase is the most severe. The people of West Bengal must end this phase and form a government under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, which would ensure happiness for the poor, safety for mothers and sisters, new employment opportunities for youth, promotion of education, and renewed growth of industry in the state.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that recently the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made a statement urging a particular community that if one sees a snake while offering namaz, one should leave the prayer and kill the snake, comparing the BJP and RSS to such a snake. Those who indulge in the politics of violence will be defeated through the power of votes. Whenever opposition leaders and Congress leaders use abusive language against the Bharatiya Janata Party and Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the public responds by strengthening the BJP and blessing it with victory. The time has now come to uproot the Trinamool Congress government that has been in power for a long time.

Shri Nabin stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is convening a special session on 16, 17, and 18 April, during which the government will work towards providing 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies under the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. Today women are standing on their own feet and contributing to both family and society, but in West Bengal, the state government does not adequately address their concerns. While the state government provides some financial assistance, a BJP government would ensure greater support along with security, dignity, and self-respect for women. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, efforts will be made to empower women further. If Mamata Banerjee has the resolve, she should support the bill granting 33% reservation to women in Parliament and State Assemblies, which would demonstrate her commitment to women’s empowerment.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that West Bengal has long been identified with sports and the emotions associated with it. Athletes from West Bengal have carved a distinct identity across the country. The tradition of club houses has been an important part of West Bengal’s culture, playing a key role in connecting youth and the new generation with sports. Through these club houses and institutions, various cultural programs have been organized, contributing significantly to preserving and promoting the state’s heritage. In fields such as art, music, journalism, painting, and sports, these institutions have played a major role in establishing the rich history of West Bengal across the country.

Shri Nabin stated that club houses in West Bengal once had a glorious history and were widely discussed across the country, but today their character has changed and what they are now known for is evident to all. Institutions which once nurtured players and promoted sports have, according to him, turned into centers of collection and extortion, causing damage to the state’s heritage and culture. There was a time when the passion for football in West Bengal be it clubs like Mohun Bagan Super Giant or others was renowned across the country, but in the past 15–20 years, that legacy and respect have declined. He questioned who is responsible for this and who prevented the youth and the new generation of Bengal from securing a better future. When Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji gave the call for ‘Khelo Bharat’ across the country, West Bengal too should have moved forward in that direction. Through government initiatives, efforts were made to create a sporting environment in every panchayat, but while other states progressed in sports, West Bengal lagged behind and discussions shifted towards “khela hobe” instead.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that in West Bengal today, sports grounds have turned into arenas of politics, and therefore the time has come to hold those responsible accountable. In the last Olympics, out of the six medals won by India, four were won by athletes from Haryana, which is now emerging as a leading state in sports. Even a state like Bihar, where sports earlier received little attention and where there was once “jungle raj,” is now producing athletes who are bringing glory to the nation. Similarly, players from Gujarat and other states are progressing and making the country proud. If West Bengal, which was once a leader in sports, has fallen behind, those responsible must answer for it. West Bengal has long been a symbol of cultural richness, with its art, painting, and artists gaining recognition both nationally and internationally, but today the state is lagging in these areas. This decline is due to the government led by Mamata Banerjee not focusing on these sectors and being engaged in the politics of “Khela.” Such an “Adda culture” will be ended and efforts will be made to restore the former glory of club houses.

Shri Nabin stated that the Trinamool Congress government has turned West Bengal into a center of extortion, appeasement, mafia activities, atrocities against women, corruption, and “cut money,” and that without ending this, the state cannot be developed. When they speak about the rights of the people of the state, they are called “Outsiders,” and politics of “E par, O par” is played. They stand with “E par,” representing the interests of the people of West Bengal, whereas the government led by Mamata Banerjee is settling outsiders and compromising the rights of local citizens. Club houses are meant to symbolize creativity and provide opportunities to new talent, and they should not be turned into centers of extortion. Such places are being used for planning booth capturing during elections, while extortion continues throughout the year. The entire country is watching West Bengal, and the people of the state will not give another chance to “jungle raj.” Club houses being misused as such “Addas” will be reformed, and their historic and cultural significance will be restored in a new West Bengal.

Shri Nabin said that a football stadium in Chanchal has been under construction for years but remains incomplete. Once a government is formed under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the work on the stadium will be completed. Recently when a prominent international player visited, the enthusiasm among people was remarkable, but even that event was affected and the game could not take place properly. India is moving towards hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and preparing for the 2036 Olympics, and if given the opportunity, a Double-Engine government of the BJP and NDA in the next 10 years would ensure that youth from West Bengal also win medals for the country. Such a vision would not be possible under the current Trinamool Congress government, alleging that its focus is on “cut money.” When initiatives like “Fit India” are discussed, they are opposed, and criticize the leadership of Mamata Banerjee over priorities related to governance and development.

Hon’ble BJP National President stated that across the country, the Target Olympic Podium Scheme is being implemented and every state is working to promote its athletes by providing training and opportunities so that they can perform better. In other states, sports and athletes are being encouraged through central government initiatives, but the West Bengal government does not have the time to train and support its players. Several welfare schemes of the central government have been implemented across states, but in West Bengal, schemes are introduced only when they provide political benefit. Under the “Khelo India” initiative, centers are being established across the country and funds have also been provided to the state government, but instead of proper utilization, they are being misused. The Deendayal Upadhyaya National Sports Programme is currently being run, under which retired athletes across the country are being given benefits ranging from ₹12,000 to ₹20,000 under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, so that they can live a dignified life after retirement. While the central government is working for the welfare of athletes, the Trinamool Congress government is operating on what he described as a model of exploitation and is not focused on development. Today more than 6,000 small and large companies that once operated in West Bengal and provided employment to youth have shifted to other states and stopped investing. This has impacted not only employment but also sports and club houses, as these companies could have supported such institutions through CSR initiatives if they had remained in the state.

Shri Nabin said that the current situation is such that the government sends funds to club houses two to three times a year, but there is no transparency in their utilization, and even the money allocated in the name of festivals and pujas is not properly used. It was on this very soil of West Bengal that “Vande Mataram” was composed, whose chant inspired the nation during the freedom struggle and for which many brave individuals sacrificed their lives. The same “Vande Mataram” was disrespected when, during a special discussion in Parliament on its anniversary, TMC MPs created disruptions and attempted to stop it. Under the government led by Mamata Banerjee, despite claims of “Maa, Maati, Maanush,” injustice is being done to mothers and sisters, and the land itself has become insecure due to infiltrators. Mamata Banerjee goes to the Supreme Court of India wearing a black coat to defend infiltrators, but does not approach the courts to secure justice for women. Shri Nabin also claimed that in West Bengal, permissions from administration and courts are required for organizing Dussehra celebrations, while offering namaz is allowed freely.

Hon’ble BJP National President stated that just as the Ganga originates from the Himalayas and flows through various regions, carrying impurities along and ultimately reaching the Bay of Bengal through West Bengal, similarly, The Trinamool Congress will also be “immersed” as it reaches its end. Along with the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, there is also a commitment to develop West Bengal, which will be fulfilled with the blessings, affection, and support of the people. Shri Nitin Nabin appealed to the people of West Bengal to uproot what he described as the anarchic rule of the Trinamool Congress and to ensure the victory of all BJP candidates in order to form a Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state.
