Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh addressed a massive public rally in Karandighi, West Bengal on Wednesday. During his address, he accused the TMC of deceiving the people of the state for years and engaging in corruption and appeasement politics. Shri Singh stated that the people of West Bengal have made up their mind to end the misgovernance of the Trinamool government and bring the Bharatiya Janata Party to power. During the program, BJP Lok Sabha MP Shri Kartick Chandra Paul and Karandighi candidate Shri Biraj Baisya, along with other leaders, were present on the stage.
Shri Rajnath Singh stated that today the situation in West Bengal had become such that common people had to wander in search of justice. Many incidents in North Dinajpur were a big example of this. A few years ago, two young men were killed simply because they were demanding a science teacher in their school. In the year 2023, an innocent girl was brutally assaulted and then murdered. When people demanded justice, the police themselves dealt harshly with them and a young man lost his life, but till date no one had received justice. Many families had still not been able to perform the last rites of their children, because they were waiting for justice. In Bengal, the festival of ‘Bhai Phonta’ was celebrated, where sisters applied tilak on their brothers for their long life and safety, but many of those who had called Mamata Banerjee ‘Mamata Didi’ were themselves feeling unsafe today. He questioned what crime had the people of Bengal committed that they were having to endure such suffering.
Shri Singh mentioned that this time in the elections, the people of Bengal would extract answers from Mamata Banerjee for every question. Bengal had given birth to great women like Kadambini Ganguly, who was India’s first female doctor. It was a matter of great shame that the very place which had given the country its first female doctor was the same place where horrific incidents like the R.G. Kar Medical incident took place. Today in Bengal, sisters and daughters did not feel safe, whereas the Chief Minister of the state was herself a woman. Today TMC had come to mean ‘Total Misrule and Corruption’, and this party tried to mislead the public by calling the BJP ‘Bahiragato’. The founder of the ideology from which the BJP came, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, was himself connected to the soil of Bengal, and therefore calling the BJP an outsider was misleading.
Senior BJP leader asserted that in the elections of 1952, when Members of Parliament were elected across the entire country, the two MPs from his party who had won were from West Bengal itself, and in such a situation, calling the BJP an outsider was completely wrong. Even today, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji considered Bengal as his own, and the people of Bengal also considered him their own leader. The work of granting classical language status to the Bengali language for the first time was also done by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Along with this, he said that the decision to honour the former President of the country and pride of Bengal, the revered Pranab Mukherjee Ji, with the Bharat Ratna was also taken by the Modi government itself. The work of bringing back the legacy of Bankim Chandra had also been done by the BJP, and the initiative for discussion in Parliament on the completion of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ was also started by them. It was the resolve of the Bharatiya Janata Party that a museum would be built on the soil of Bengal in honour of Bankim Chandra. Along with this, he stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji had renamed Ross Island of Andaman and Nicobar as ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep’ in honour of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. All the great personalities being mentioned were born on the soil of Bengal, and in such a situation, calling the BJP an outsider was completely baseless.
Shri Singh stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the Bharatiya Janata Party had deep respect for Bengal. Even after so many years of independence, there was no big hospital like AIIMS in Bengal, but the work of establishing it was also done by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. The party which was founded by Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who came from the soil of Bengal, was being called an outsider by Mamata Banerjee, but infiltrators felt like their own to her. The time had now come to give a reply to Trinamool Congress’s vote bank politics. It was the resolve of the BJP that Bengal’s cultural heritage would be given due respect, and languages like Kudmali and Rajbanshi would be included in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, giving them their rights and identity, which would strengthen their culture and tradition. In the last 15 years, Trinamool Congress had given this state many wounds. The Left and TMC had reddened this land with violence. Mamata Banerjee had also run a syndicate raj, through which only TMC’s goons and criminals had been enriched. Bengal was once a centre of culture, education and industry, but today under TMC rule, people had been forced to live in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. Under Mamata Banerjee’s rule, West Bengal had fallen sick and had now reached the ventilator.
Shri Rajnath Singh stated that TMC had given Bengal nothing other than syndicate raj, total jungle raj and corruption. Such a system of cut money had been set up that had snatched away the rights of even the poorest person. In every government scheme, a network of middlemen was spread, and those same middlemen forcibly extracted money from the public. How the blow of cut money was ruining the lives of common people could be understood from the story of Rinku Pramanik, which presented a painful picture of this corrupt system. He stated that Rinku Ji wanted to build a small house for her family on her own land, but people associated with TMC demanded one lakh rupees from her and said that until the money was paid, no labourer would work, and along with this, her water and electricity connections were also cut off. Out of compulsion, she sold her jewellery, took out a loan, and somehow arranged and paid one lakh rupees, but despite this, her house could not be built.
Senior BJP leader remarked that in Bengal, those who took cut money would have to be cut out this time, and those who ran the syndicate would have to flee Bengal. When Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi Ji became the Prime Minister of the country in 2014, India stood at 11th position among the countries of the world in terms of wealth and economy. The way Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji ran the government, as a result of that, within 9-10 years itself, India was lifted from the 11th position and placed at the 4th position among the economies of the world. Despite the countless efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, Mamata Banerjee had not allowed this development to happen in West Bengal. The time had now come for the development of Bengal, for giving employment to the hands of the unemployed youth of Bengal, and for protecting the self-respect of Bengal. If anyone could restore the lost glory of Bengal, then it was only and only the Bharatiya Janata Party that could do so.
Union Defence Minister stated that 1 crore new employment and self-employment opportunities will be created in the state. Youth who do not have jobs will be provided financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month. After the formation of a BJP government, all vacant posts in government departments will be filled within June to December 2026, immediately after the elections, with complete transparency and on the basis of merit, ensuring large-scale employment for the youth. Priority in these jobs will be given to local youth of West Bengal. Strict action will be taken against illegal infiltration and border security will be strengthened to ensure protection of law and order as well as employment opportunities in the state. The aim is to transform Bengal into a strong economic powerhouse with major industries and ample employment opportunities. BJP government will work to establish Darjeeling tea as a globally recognized brand. Through a “double engine” government, the Bharatiya Janata Party envisions building a new and developed Bengal, one where no innocent person faces injustice or oppression.
BJP Senior Leader asserted that the party has fulfilled every resolution it has undertaken. The promise to abrogate Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir has been fulfilled, and the commitment to construct a grand Prabhu Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has also been realized. Significant steps have been taken towards ensuring 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies for women empowerment. When a BJP government is formed in West Bengal, 33 percent reservation will also be implemented for women in government jobs. Additionally, through the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, 75 lakh mothers and sisters in the state will be economically empowered so that women who currently do not have sufficient income can become self-reliant and earn up to ₹1 lakh each. All mothers and sisters will be given ₹3,000 per month to improve their lives. Women below 40 years of age will be provided HPV vaccination to protect them from serious diseases. For women aged 40 years and above, in case of cancer, free treatment will be provided to ensure timely diagnosis and proper care. The government of Mamata Banerjee included 77 communities in the OBC list, out of which 75 belong to only one community, which is not justified. All sections, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians, should be included equally. The party will ensure that no injustice is done to anyone and justice is delivered to all. The principle of “Justice to All, Appeasement of None” will be followed, and there will be no appeasement of any group.
Union Defence Minister noted that today the youth of West Bengal are struggling to find employment, farmers are distressed, and the condition of hospitals and schools has deteriorated, requiring urgent improvement. TMC has now become synonymous with corruption and violence in the state. People are living in fear due to the intimidation and hooliganism of its leaders, and are hesitant to speak the truth. There is a lack of confidence among citizens regarding their safety, as even the police are perceived to be under pressure. Shri Singh questioned whether this is the same Bengal envisioned by the freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives for its future. The time has come to end the politics of fear, hunger, and corruption. BJP aims to build a Bengal where every citizen can proudly say that their state is safe, prosperous, and progressing rapidly. The people of West Bengal have witnessed Communist rule for a long time and have also experienced 15 years of TMC governance. Shri Rajnath Singh appealed to the people to ensure the victory of all candidates of the BJP and to form a BJP government in the state.
