Under the misgovernance of the TMC government, over 4 lakh workers have been forced to leave tea gardens: Nitin Nabin

Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Nitin Nabin addressed tea garden workers in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal on Wednesday. Taking a sharp dig at the policies of the Trinamool Congress government and the rising corruption in the state, Shri Nitin Nabin stated that the TMC government has systematically weakened the tea industry and neglected the rights of workers. Hon’ble National President assured that once a BJP government is formed, concrete steps will be taken to improve the dignity, rights, and living standards of tea garden workers, and West Bengal will be put on the path of development and transparency. During the programme, Lok Sabha MP Shri Jayant Raj, MP Shri Manoj Tigga, BJP candidate from Jalpaiguri Shri Munna Shukla, along with other leaders, were present on the stage.

Shri Nitin Nabin stated that tea garden workers have built the identity of Indian tea across the country and the world through their hard work, dedication, and sweat. However, the All India Trinamool Congress government has diminished the fragrance and reputation of that tea. In the coming time, there is a commitment to bring change to improve the dignity, rights, and living standards of tea garden workers. North Bengal, once known for its lush green tea gardens, has seen this industry being systematically weakened under the current state government.

BJP National President noted that the incidents of December 2025, including the killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh, are still remembered and strengthen the resolve that those Bangladeshi infiltrators who deprive local people of their rights will be identified and removed from West Bengal. Many tea garden workers belong to families whose ancestors migrated from other parts of India years ago and contributed to the region’s development. While the BJP government in Assam has provided land ownership rights to tea garden workers, in West Bengal, land meant for workers is being used to settle infiltrators. Mamata Banerjee had promised 3 lakh permanent houses for workers, but only around 4,500 houses have been constructed, with the remaining funds allegedly misused. Even today, people continue to face a lack of basic facilities such as water, electricity, housing, and healthcare. Through the Pradhan Mantri Tea Workers Incentive Scheme, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji had resolved to provide housing, healthcare, and land rights to workers, but the state government did not allow its implementation, whereas in Assam, workers are benefiting from the scheme.

Shri Nitin Nabin mentioned that the TMC government has turned into a regime of extortion, where cut money and commissions are taken in every scheme across West Bengal. Even for constructing a house, an ordinary citizen has to pay commission to the “bhaipo”. Clubhouses, which were meant to promote Bengal’s culture and sports, have been converted into centers of collection and extortion under Mamata Banerjee’s government. Therefore, this system must be changed and replaced with a government that ensures development and transparency. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has been leading the entire nation with unity despite global instability. During the COVID period, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji brought the country together and supported the poor by providing free vaccines and ration.

BJP National President remarked that former Prime Ministers of the country had once stated that when one rupee was sent from Delhi, only 15 paise actually reached the common citizen. However, today, through the Jan Dhan Yojana, money is being directly transferred into the bank accounts of the poor, ensuring transparency and efficiency. Congress National President has been making statements threatening to eliminate BJP Karyakartas and their existence. Such people want to wipe out the BJP from India, but it is they who will vanish, BJP cannot be erased from India, as it is a party rooted in the soil and culture of the nation, not an “Italian Congress” that will disappear elsewhere. Shri Nitin Nabin added that the more statements leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge make, the more the people of the country will respond by strengthening the BJP and ensuring the victory of the lotus symbol. He also assured tea garden workers that once a BJP government is formed, West Bengal will be transformed into a developed state, and the tea industry will regain its former glory, bringing back dignity, livelihood, and smiles to the faces of the workers.
