Marking a significant milestone in the organisational history of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Nitin Nabin formally assumed charge as the National Working President at the party headquarters in New Delhi on 15 December 2025. A day earlier, on 14 December 2025, the BJP Parliamentary Board had appointed the Bihar Cabinet Minister and young face of the party to this important national position. The occasion witnessed the presence of several senior leaders, including BJP National President and Union Minister Shri JP Nadda and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah. Union Ministers, senior party office-bearers, functionaries, and thousands of Karyakartas were also in attendance, reflecting the organisation’s collective confidence and strong support for the new leadership.

Shri Nabin arrived at the BJP headquarters from Patna where he was accorded a rousing welcome by party office-bearers and Karyakartas amid an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and optimism. Upon his arrival, he paid floral tributes to the party’s founding ideologues, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, at the central office.

At 45, Shri Nitin Nabin has created history by becoming the youngest-ever National Working President of the BJP. He is also the first party President from Bihar and from Eastern India. Known for his strong grassroots connections, administrative acumen, and unwavering ideological commitment, Shri Nitin Nabin’s elevation is widely seen as a clear message that dedication, discipline, and performance remain the core pillars of the BJP’s leadership culture. His deep understanding of the party organisation and grassroots work, his alignment with the leadership’s style of functioning, and his proven ability to deliver on challenging political assignments are also the key factors weighed in his favour for this advancement. His assumption of charge symbolises both continuity in strong leadership and the party’s firm belief in nurturing leaders from the grassroots to the national stage.

Following his appointment as BJP National Working President, Shri Nitin Nabin expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and senior BJP leaders for entrusting him with this responsibility. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the central leadership, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the BJP National President, the Defence Minister, the Home Minister, and all members of the central leadership for giving me this opportunity. I have the Prime Minister’s blessings, and I will strive to further advance the guidance and leadership he has provided,” he said.

Shri Nabin also thanked the people of Bihar and his constituency for their continued support and blessings, which he described as instrumental in his elevation. “The people of my constituency have blessed me. With their blessings, this is happening,” he said.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi congratulated Shri Nabin, describing him as a young and industrious leader with rich organisational experience, complemented by an impressive record as an MLA and minister.
Shri Nitin Nabin’s journey—from a committed Karyakarta to one of the most crucial organisational roles at the national level—has been truly remarkable. His experience as a minister in Bihar, coupled with his effective organisational responsibilities across various states, has strengthened the party both in governance and cadre-building. His appointment comes at a critical juncture, as the BJP continues to expand its organisational footprint nationwide while preparing for upcoming electoral battles in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. With his clarity of thought and hands-on leadership style, Shri Nabin is expected to play a pivotal role in further energising the party machinery across the country.

Before departing from Patna on 15 December, Shri Nabin outlined his priorities, emphasising organisational strengthening and the development of new leadership within the party. “My endeavour will be to make the party Sarvavyapi and Sarvasparshi. I have come to pay tributes to my father and had darshan at Mahavir Mandir, which fills us with energy. It is with my father’s blessings that I have reached this position over the past 20 years. I will begin the journey ahead with his blessings,” Shri Nabin told reporters after paying floral tributes to his late father, veteran BJP leader Shri Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha, in Patna.
