BJP Sangathan Parv: Election of New Party President

BJP National Working President Shri Nitin Nabin was elected unopposed as the new National President of Bharatiya Janata Party, making him the youngest to hold the party’s top post on 19 January 2026, as took charge from the outgoing Party National President and Union Minister Shri JP Nadda on 20 January, 2026. It is to be noted, the Election process ‘Sangathan Parv’ was initiated after the conclusion of the 30 State President Elections out of the 36 organizational States of the party. Shri Nabin, a five-term MLA from Bihar, was the sole candidate for the position after Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and other senior party leaders backed his nomination. Shri Nabin, who was the Minister for Law and Justice, Urban Development, and Housing in the Bihar government, was appointed as the Working President of the BJP on 14 December 2025.

     The Newly elected BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin formally assumed charge at the party headquarters in New Delhi on 20 January 2026 in the gracious presence of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and other senior party leaders. Earlier, BJP’s National Returning Officer, Dr. K. Laxman announced the election of Shri Nitin Nabin as the National President of the party. On this occasion, a felicitation ceremony was organised at the Central Office in his honour. LIFE SKETCH

    BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin was born on 23 May 1980 in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
He is the son of veteran BJP leader Shri Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha.
Emerging as one of the young and prominent faces of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Nabin served in the Nitish Kumar–led Bihar cabinet and held key ministerial portfolios, including Urban Development, Housing, and Law.
Representing the Bankipur Assembly constituency, Shri Nabin has been elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly five times.
He has also held significant organisational responsibilities within the party, having served as the National General Secretary of the BJP Yuva Morcha, the party’s youth wing, as well as President of the Bihar BJP Yuva Morcha.
With extensive experience in both governance and organisation, Shri Nabin’s election as the National President further strengthens youth representation in the BJP’s national leadership.
In addition to his ministerial and organisational roles, Shri Nabin has served as the BJP’s election in-charge for Sikkim during the 2019 Assembly elections.
He was the party’s in-charge for Chhattisgarh in the 2023 state polls, where the BJP registered a decisive victory over the Congress.
He also played an active role in the party’s campaign in Delhi.

President and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari felicitated the newly elected BJP National President. All national office-bearers of the party attended the felicitation programme, including the BJP Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers, several Union Ministers, and a large number of Party Karyakartas were present during the occasion.

FILING OF NOMINATION & ELECTION PROCESS

Before the filing of Nominations for the President’s post, the senior leaders of the party arrived at the BJP Headquarters at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Marg in New

Delhi on 19 January, 2026. A total of 37 sets of nomination papers were received in favour of BJP National Working President Shri Nitin Nabin for the post of National President. Shri Nitin Nabin’s name was proposed by the senior party leaders, including outgoing National President and Union Minister Shri JP Nadda, Union Ministers Shri Rajnath Singh, Shri Amit Shah, Shri Nitin Gadkari, and others, and many senior office bearers of the party during the nomination process. Following the conclusion of the nomination process, Shri Nitin Nabin’s name remained the only candidate for the top post. After the period of withdrawal and verification, the National Returning Officer of BJP Sangathan Parv, Dr. K Laxman, announced that only one name, that of Shri Nitin Nabin, has been proposed for the post of the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. On the same day, the nomination process was completed as scheduled between 2 PM and 4 PM.

A formal announcement regarding Shri Nitin Nabin’s election as the BJP National President was made on 20 January 2026. The Sangathan Parv in-Charge, Dr. K Laxman, made the official declaration of the election. Following the declaration of the result, outgoing party National President Shri JP Nadda handed over the charge to Shri Nitin Nabin at the party Headquarters in New Delhi.
