‘Operation Sindoor’ became a symbol of pride for every Indian: PM

     Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28th December delivered the 129th episode of Mann Ki Baat, a widely followed national radio program where he shares thoughts and reflections on issues of national importance. In this concluding episode of 2025, the Prime Minister reflected on the year gone by, highlighted key developments in diverse areas — from national security and sports to youth engagement and cultural heritage — and outlined hopes for the coming year, 2026.

National Pride and Security

Prime Minister Modi began with a heartfelt greeting to listeners, acknowledging the end of another eventful year. He reflected on how 2025 offered many moments that brought pride to the nation. A central theme was national security and patriotism, with particular emphasis on “Operation Sindoor” — described as a defining moment that showcased India’s resolve and collective spirit. The PM noted that during the operation, symbolic expressions of love and devotion for the country emerged from every part of the nation. He said, “This year, ‘Operation Sindoor’ became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world clearly saw that today’s India does not compromise on its security. During ‘Operation Sindoor’, images of love and devotion towards Maa Bharati emerged from every corner of the country. People expressed their feelings in their own unique ways.”

Cultural Unity and Historical Celebrations

PM Modi also highlighted the celebration of 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, a campaign that resonated deeply with Indians. Citizens actively participated by sharing messages and suggestions under the hashtag #VandeMataram150, reflecting on the cultural and emotional significance of the iconic song in India’s history.

Achievements in Sports, Science, and Environment

A significant portion of the address paid tribute to India’s successes in sports in 2025. These included: Men’s Cricket Team’s Victory in the ICC Champions Trophy, India Women’s Cricket Team winning the Women’s World Cup for the first time, the triumph of India’s Women’s Blind T20 team, highlighting inclusivity and excellence.Strong performances by Indian para-athletes at the World Championships, reinforcing the idea that determination knows no limits.

In science and space exploration, the PM proudly mentioned that Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station, marking a milestone for India’s growing presence in space research and exploration.

Environmental conservation also featured in his remarks, particularly the increase in the number of cheetahs in India to over 30 — a testament to ongoing wildlife protection efforts.

The Prime Minister took time to reflect on spiritual and cultural milestones, including: The Prayagraj Mahakumbh, held earlier in the year, which drew global attention and participation.

The historic Dhwajarohan ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which was described as a profoundly emotional moment for the country’s faith and unity.

Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of engaging the youth in nation-building. He spoke about the ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue’, an initiative that encourages youth participation in discussions about innovation, technology, startups, agriculture, health, and fitness. The first edition had already taken place, and the second was being planned for early January 2026, coinciding with National Youth Day — the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Smart India Hackathon

A major focus was on the Smart India Hackathon 2025, where students tackled real-world problems across more than 270 challenges posed by 80+ government departments. The PM highlighted innovative solutions in areas such as traffic management, financial fraud solutions, digital banking, and agriculture. Over 13 lakh (1.3 million) students and 6,000+ institutes have participated since the hackathon’s inception, reinforcing youth innovation and practical problem-solving.

Heritage, Language, and Diversity

The address celebrated India’s linguistic and cultural diversity. The PM shared stories about children in Fiji celebrating Tamil Day and how similar interest was growing among children from Varanasi in the Kashi Tamil Sangamam initiative. These examples illustrated how Indian languages and culture transcend geographical boundaries and connect the diaspora with their roots.

He reiterated that such cultural initiatives strengthen unity in diversity — a hallmark of India’s identity.

Looking Ahead to 2026

In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister expressed hope and confidence as India stepped into 2026. He reiterated that Mann Ki Baat would remain a platform for citizens across the country to share ideas, achievements, and aspirations. He encouraged continued enthusiasm, participation, and national spirit — seeking to deepen the collective journey toward a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
