On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the concluding day of ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ on 02 October 2024, BJP National President and Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda participated in the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ near Lodhi Colony Road, New Delhi. The ‘Seva Pakhwada’ was commenced by the BJP National President from 17th September to 2nd October and during the programme the party launched an awareness drive for the general public and party Karyakartas to increase participation in the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’.
Addressing the occasion, the BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda greatly appreciated the charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for making the cleanliness campaign a mass movement of the country. After this, he went to Khadi Bhandar at Connaught Place in New Delhi, paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi there and purchased Khadi products.
The BJP National President said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi turned Mahatma Gandhi’s call for cleanliness into a mass movement in the last decade.
Shri Nadda along with Delhi Unit BJP leaders, including BJP Delhi President Shri Virendra Sachdeva, MP Bansuri Swaraj and others participated in the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ at Lodhi Colony in the national capital.
Shri Nadda said, “Shri Narendra Modi after becoming the Prime Minister adopted cleanliness and it became a mass movement. We know the call for cleanliness was given by the father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi but Prime Minister Shri Modi has changed it into a mass movement”.
Under PM Shri Modi’s leadership this mass movement, to create awareness among the people to maintain personal hygiene and avoid littering as well as encouraging the society towards cleanliness has been continuing for the last 10 years Shri Nadda added.
Stating the BJP is actively involved in speeding this movement in the future, he said cleanliness is not only a matter of one day but also should be maintained every day throughout the year.
The BJP observes ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ every year, engaging people in the cleanliness campaign on Gandhi Jayanti, Shri Nadda said. He called on people and the party Karyakartas to join the campaign whenever possible.
The BJP National President also urged people to make cleanliness and khadi garments part of their lives. The Prime Minister has given special attention to the khadi industry through ‘Local For Vocal’ and ‘Khadi For Nation, For Fashion and For Transformation’ campaigns, leading to a jump in its sales, he said.
