Shri R Mohan Rao came in contact with RSS while working as a small businessman in Andaman & Nicobar. He used to visit Sangh branches regularly & got inspired by the ideology of BJP and became its member in Andaman and Nicobar.
Shri Mohan served in many positions in the party and became President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Participating in the movements against the wrong policies and decisions of the Congress party, he made significant contributions to the party, bringing many youngsters on board.
To establish BJP in the isolated island of Campbell Bay, Shri Mohan travelled with the founding member and three-term MP Shri Bishnu Pada Ray ji, holding meetings in temples and sleeping there as well. With time, people began to join and make arrangements for their meals and stay at their homes. Workers got involved this way, leading to the formation of the caravan.

Shri Mohan also played an active role in collecting the iron for the construction of statue of Sardar Patel. His presence was always a source of inspiration and motivation to the youth and to party workers throughout the islands.
