Ahilyabai was born on May 31, 1725, in Chondi village, Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. She was chosen by the Maratha warrior Malhar Rao Holkar for his son, Khanderao Holkar, and became the queen of the Holkar Empire. After Khanderao’s death in 1754, Ahilyabai took on the immense responsibility of leading her son, her kingdom, and her people. From 1767 to 1795, she ruled the Malwa state and transformed it into an ideal state with her administrative skills.

Ahilyabai’s reign was a symbol of peace, prosperity, and public service. Her leadership skills and administrative capabilities remain an inspiration even today.
