BJP National President addresses “Kargil Vijay Diwas Samaroh”
BJP National President and Union Minister Shri JP Nadda, while addressing the programme organized on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas at the BJP Central Office in New Delhi on 26 July 2025, saluted the brave soldiers and martyrs of the country who hoisted the flag of victory and bravery in the Kargil war and put their lives at stake and paid tribute to the martyrs.
Shri Nadda said that along with the bravery of the army, the role of policy makers is also important in the defense of the country. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has given a clear message by conducting surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor that India will enter the enemy’s house to protect its citizens and this is the new normal of the New India.
The BJP National President said every year the brave sons of the country and their valour and the victory of Operation Vijay are remembered in the office of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Once again on this day, we salute their valour here, we remember those immortal martyrs with a heartfelt salute. 26 years ago, in February 1999, the Pakistani army had tried to capture Kargil sector, Drass sector, Batalik sector, Moscow sector and Tiger Hill by stabbing them in the back. In Kargil, the then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji had ordered the army to take back that place and hoist the tricolor flag there, and he also gave the slogan that “This is India’s Tiger Hill, it will remain India’s Tiger Hill”.
Shri Nadda said it was a very difficult battle because tactically and strategically the Pakistani army was sitting on the heights of Tiger Hill and the Indian Army was below, so the Indian Army was in a difficult situation and the Pakistani Army was constantly watching the movements on India’s National Highway. In such a situation, “Operation Vijay” started. Despite the height of 15,000 feet as well as icy winds, heavy rains, the warriors of Mother India fought this battle. After 81 days of fighting, the Indian Army won it and today, on 26 July, the whole country celebrates “Operation Vijay Diwas”. In this operation, the Indian Air Force conducted Operation Safed Sagar, in which helicopters, MiG and Sukhoi aircraft contributed a lot, due to which India got this success. The biggest thing was that the soldiers of the Indian Army climbed a steep slope. By climbing straight up to about 1000 feet, where there was no place to hide, the Indian Army captured Tiger Hill and taught a befitting lesson to the Pakistani Army by fighting for five days.
Shri Nadda said India’s defence production and defence exports have increased. 75% of the capital expenditure is now being spent on indigenous equipment. At one time, India did not have any aircraft other than Mig, but today India has 36 Rafale, 28 Apache helicopters and surface to air missiles. Earlier the Indian Army did not have bulletproof jackets, there was a shortage of assault rifles. Today India is not only making all these equipment, but is also exporting them.
This is the new India; this is the new normal. Under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Indians are moving towards a safe and self-reliant India. Today the whole country salutes the brave warriors who raised the flag of valor in Kargil and the BJP government is determined to ensure that their sacrifice is not wasted. Every citizen has a responsibility and the whole of India stands with the guards.
