PM’s Rally IN Delhi

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, announced a major boost to infrastructure and public welfare in the national capital as projects worth over Rs. 33,500 crore were inaugurated and foundation stones laid in the presence of the Chief Minister, Smt. Rekha Gupta and Union Ministers, including Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Shri Harsh Malhotra, and Shri Tokhan Sahu, in Delhi on 08 March 2026.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Modi said the projects mark a new phase of development in Delhi, strengthening infrastructure, connectivity, and public services. He said the people’s mandate a year ago is now translating into visible progress across the city.

Key projects for Delhi

Key projects include the expansion of the Delhi Metro network and the construction of modern housing for government employees. With the launch of Metro Phase-4, the total network has now crossed 375 km, making it one of the largest urban transit systems in the world. The newly inaugurated metro corridors are expected to significantly ease daily commuting, especially in East and North-East Delhi, while improving connectivity with NCR cities such as Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram.

Growing role of women in India

Marking International Women’s Day, the Prime Minister underscored the growing role of women in India’s development journey. He said women are excelling across sectors. The Prime Minister announced that the government has achieved its target of creating over 3 crore “Lakhpati Didis,” women who earn sustainable incomes through self-help groups and entrepreneurship. Building on this success, the government has now set a new target to create an additional 3 crore Lakhpati Didis in the coming years.

Fast-track implementation

Speaking on governance, Shri Modi said that stalled projects and delays of the past are now being replaced by fast-track implementation. He stressed that development is now driven by accountability and execution, ensuring that projects move from files to the ground.

In the transport sector, the government has focused on modernizing public mobility. Thousands of electric buses are currently operational in Delhi, and new buses, including “Devi buses,” have been introduced to improve last-mile connectivity across colonies and neighbourhoods.

Ayushman Bharat implemented in Delhi

Highlighting welfare initiatives, the Prime Minister said schemes such as Ayushman Bharat are now being implemented effectively in Delhi, providing free healthcare services to the poor and middle class through newly established Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.

He also pointed to the success of the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, under which around 2 lakh street vendors in Delhi have received financial assistance worth approximately Rs. 350 crore.

Shri Modi said Delhi’s development reflects the progress and confidence of a “New India.” He expressed confidence that under the current leadership, the capital will continue to grow as a model and modern city with good infrastructure, inclusive development, and improved quality of life for all citizens.
