Devendra Fadnavis elected as Maharashtra BJP Legislative Party Leader

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party Legislative Party unanimously elected Shri Devendra Fadnavis as its leader in Mumbai on 04 December 2024. The decision was announced by the party’s central observer, and former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani, after no other candidates were proposed for the position. “Since there is no other proposal, I announced Shri Fadnavis to be elected the leader unopposed,” Shri Rupani said at the meeting.

The nomination was proposed by former Maharashtra BJP state President Shri Chandrakant Patil and seconded by Member of Legislative Council Smt. Pankaja Munde during the Legislative Party meeting.

Another party central observer, Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized the significance of the Maharashtra mandate, particularly in light of the recent Lok Sabha poll results. “It’s a mandate towards Vikasit Bharat,” she said. “The double engine government under PM Shri Narendra Modi’s guidance will drive Maharashtra to new heights of growth with full fervour and strength. The promises made in the manifesto will be fulfilled.”

After the BJP Legislature Party meeting, all three leaders of the Mahayuti Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Shri Eknath Shinde and Shri Ajit Pawar met Maharashtra Governor Shri CP Radhakrishnan and staked claim to form government.
