The Government of India has approved the release of 25 lakh additional LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for the financial year 2025-26 to clear pending applications and achieve wider access to clean cooking fuel across the country. PMUY, launched in May 2016, aims to provide deposit-free LPG connections to adult women from poor households. As of November 1, 2025, approximately 10.33 crore connections have been issued under the scheme.
