Originally from Bangladesh, Shri Narendra Nath Bairagi came to Andaman to seek asylum. As a prominent social worker in his village, he constantly helped the poor and downtrodden.
Shri Narendra Nath Bairagi is one of the founding members of BJP in Andaman & Nicobar Islands in 1990. He was appointed as the District President of the Diglipur Organizational District. In those days, the Congress party ruled from the Panchayat to the Parliament, and nobody had the guts to challenge the Congress in a place like the Andaman & Nicobar Islands because of their dictatorial and arrogant control. The leaders and members of the Congress party made numerous threats against Shri Bairagi ji’s life and subjected him to social and political discrimination. However, he continued to work towards strengthening the BJP over the entire North Andaman region.
Shri Narendra Nath’s effective working style & field activities nurtured BJP and inspired thousands of people of that region to join the party which started paying dividends over the years. Due to his efforts together with the team he had built over the years, the BJP succeeded in winning 14 out of 15 Panchayats in Diglipur in the year 2015.
