Along with the Assembly Elections, By-polls in vacated Assembly and Lok Sabha seats were also held in 14 states. In the Assembly contests, Uttar Pradesh led with nine seats, followed by Rajasthan with seven, West Bengal with six, and Assam with five. Punjab and Bihar had four seats each, Karnataka three, while Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, and Kerala had two each. Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, and Meghalaya had one seat each. The by-poll results for 48 seats in 14 States were announced on 23 November 2024.
In Uttar Pradesh, the by-poll was held in nine seats of which the BJP-led NDA won seven seats. The BJP alone got six seats while its ally RLD got one seat. The Samajwadi Party won two seats. The BJP, which had won only one of these nine seats in the 2022 State election, won six of them this time. After the victory, CM Yogi Adityanath credited Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the success.
Likewise, in Rajasthan, the BJP won five seats. The BJP retained tribal-dominated Salumber and secured victory in Jhunjhunu, Khinwsar, Ramgarh and Deoli-Uniara. The Congress, which won four of the seven seats in the 2023 Assembly election, lost three and won Dausa by a slender margin. The BAP retained its Chorasi seat in Dungarpur district

In Bihar, the NDA swept all four seats and dealt a blow to the RJD-Congress coalition. The BJP claimed Tarari in Bhojpur and Ramgarh, while the Janata Dal (United) won the RJD stronghold of Belaganj. The Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi’s daughter secured Imamganj.
In Uttarakhand, the BJP won the Kedarnath Assembly seat. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP retained Budhni, which was vacant after Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s election to Parliament.
In Chhattisgarh, the BJP won Raipur by over 46,000 votes. The seat became vacant after the BJP veteran Shri Brajmohan Agrawal moved to Parliament. Gujarat saw the BJP win the Vav Assembly seat which has been one of the party strongholds for decades.
The National People’s Party an NDA partner, retained the Gambegre Assembly seat in Meghalaya, while in Assam, the BJP-led NDA secured all five seats, with the BJP winning three while in Sikkim, the NDA allay Sikkim Krantikari Morcha’s both candidates won unopposed.
