Bihar’s first cabinet expansion under Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary took place on 07 May, 2026 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, with 32 ministers taking oath in a grand ceremony attended by top NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.
Leaders from the BJP, JD(U), LJP(R), HAM(S) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, was sworn in as ministers in the first major cabinet reshuffle after sweeping the Bihar Assembly polls.
On his arrival, Shri Modi received a celebratory welcome in Patna by party karyakartas conducting a massive road show. He said, “I am overwhelmed by the love and blessings of my family members from Bihar in Patna! I am deeply grateful to all of you from the bottom of my heart for this warm welcome. Your unprecedented enthusiasm clearly shows that our resolve for development and public service is receiving full support from the people.
BJP, which is the single largest party in the 243-member assembly with 89 MLAs, has 15 ministers, who took oath. JD(U) is represented by a total of 15 ministers including two Deputy Chief Ministers, 13 of whom took the oath at the Gandhi Maidan on 07 May 2026.
Noteworthy, Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary along with Shri Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Shri Bijendra Prasad Yadav, as Deputy Chief Ministers, had taken oath in April 2026.
Prime Minister congratulates newly sworn-in Ministers in Bihar Government
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, congratulated all those who took oath as Ministers in the Government of Bihar on 07 May, 2026 and conveyed his best wishes to them. The Prime Minister said that he was confident that their commitment towards the all-round development of the state would take Bihar to new heights of prosperity. He also called upon everyone to work together to realise the resolve of building a strong Bihar and a developed India.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for the affection and blessings received from the people of Bihar during his visit to Patna. He said that he was overwhelmed by the warm welcome extended to him and thanked the people for their support and enthusiasm. The Prime Minister noted that the unprecedented enthusiasm among the people reflected strong public support for the Government’s commitment towards development and public service.

Likewise, BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin on a social media post on X said, “Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all members of the newly formed Bihar cabinet on taking their oaths. I am fully confident that, under the guidance of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and the leadership of Chief Minister Shri @samrat4bjp ji, all of you will dedicatedly work towards realizing the goal of ‘Developed India, Developed Bihar’ by advancing the resolve for public service, good governance, and development.”
