ASSEMBLY ELECTION
RESULTS-2026
Keralam

In Keralam the BJP achieved its best-ever electoral performance in the state. The BJP’s strong performance in Keralam is being seen as a significant political indicator with multiple implications. It shows the BJP is steadily expanding beyond its

traditional strongholds and gaining acceptance in southern India. The results indicate growing support for Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s development-oriented good governance model even in states historically dominated by regional and Left parties. The performance suggests that a section of voters in Kerala, especially youth, middle classes, and women voters, like in other parts of the country are increasingly accepting it as an alternative political narrative.

It reflects the BJP’s success in building a stronger grassroots organization and booth-level presence in the state over the past several years. The results also demonstrates that the BJP is no longer viewed merely as a marginal force in Kerala, but as an emerging and competitive player capable of influencing future state politics. The outcome as a “structural breakthrough” for the BJP in Kerala, even if the party did not secure power in the state.

Keralam witnessed a major political transition as the results for all 140 Assembly seats were declared. The elections marked the return of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) to power after a decade, while the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) suffered a huge debacle. On the broader electoral front, the Congress emerged as the single largest party with 63 seats, while its key ally, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), secured 22 seats. In contrast, the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF was reduced to 26 seats and with it the Left completely abolished from India’s political map for the first time.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a combined vote share of 14.20 per cent in the 2026 Assembly elections, registering an increase of 1.72 percentage

I thank all those who have voted for the BJP-NDA in Keralam. We will keep raising issues vital to Keralam’s progress and work hard to realise vision of a Vikasita Keralam. I congratulate the UDF on its victory in the Keralam Assembly elections. The Centre will always keep supporting the developmental aspirations of the people of Keralam.
