Senior BJP leader and Gujarat legislator Shri Yogesh Patel passed away on June 2, 2026, at the age of 79. A veteran politician and respected public figure, Shri Yogesh Patel represented the Manjalpur Assembly constituency in Vadodara since 2012. He secured consecutive electoral victories in 2012, 2017, and 2022, earning a reputation as a dedicated grassroots leader. Prior to representing Manjalpur, he served as the MLA from Raopura constituency after winning elections in 2002 and 2007.He served as Minister for Narmada Development and Housing in the government led by former Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani.
Expressing grief over the demise of the leader, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi wrote on X, “I am saddened by the news of the passing of Shri Yogeshbhai Patel, a senior member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. With his demise, I have lost a unique companion from my public life. Shri Yogeshbhai was a true leader of the people in every sense. He always gave voice to the issues of the public with integrity, sensitivity, and commitment. My heartfelt prayer is that the Almighty grants eternal peace to the departed soul and bestows strength upon the bereaved family members to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti…!!”
BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin expressing condolence wrote on X said, “The news of the demise of Shri Yogeshbhai Patel Ji, a senior member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, is extremely heartbreaking. He dedicated his entire life to public service, unwavering commitment to the organization, and advancing the cause of public welfare. May God grant eternal peace and salvation to the departed soul, and provide strength to the bereaved family during this difficult time. Om Shanti.”
Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel also expressed profound grief over the veteran leader’s demise. Shri Yogesh Patel is survived by his family, supporters, and countless admirers whose lives he touched through decades of public service. His death is widely regarded as a major loss to the BJP and to the people of Gujarat.
