India recently witnessed two landmark milestones that underscore the strength of its democratic institutions and the continuity of transformative governance under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
On 10 June, 2026, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi achieved a historic distinction by becoming the longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister of India, completing 4,399 consecutive days in office. With this achievement, he surpassed the record of 4,398 consecutive days held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who served continuously from May 13, 1952, to May 27, 1964, following India’s first general elections.
A Transformational Journey
of Trust, Development and
Public Welfare
This milestone reflects the sustained confidence reposed in Shri Narendra Modi by the people of India across three consecutive general elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024, making him the longest-serving Prime Minister in terms of uninterrupted elected tenure.
The second historic milestone is the completion of 12 years of governance by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This marks a significant chapter in India’s democratic and developmental journey.
Since assuming office in 2014, the Modi Government has pursued a vision centred on “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” with the objective of building a strong, prosperous, self-reliant, and developed India. These twelve years have witnessed transformative changes across every sector of national life. The government has focused on expanding infrastructure, strengthening social welfare delivery, accelerating digital transformation, enhancing financial inclusion, promoting economic reforms, improving connectivity, and elevating India’s standing on the global stage. The period has also witnessed major initiatives aimed at inclusive development, good governance, transparency, and the empowerment of citizens across sectors.
The completion of twelve years in office, coupled with Shri Narendra Modi becoming India’s longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister, represents a notable moment in contemporary Indian politics. The story of these twelve years is not merely about governance; it is a story of trust, development, public participation, and nation-building. Together, these milestones highlight both the longevity of democratic mandate and the continuity of governance, making June 2026 a historic
“Heartiest congratulations to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji on the unique honour of serving as the longest continuously elected Prime Minister of the nation. This landmark occasion stands as a testament to the enduring trust and confidence reposed in your leadership by the people of India.
Your tenure has been distinguished by far-reaching advancements across governance, economic resilience and social transformation. Wide-ranging welfare initiatives have ensured more inclusive and equitable access to development benefits, reaching people at the grassroots, that strongly reflects adherence to the principles of Antyodaya. Of the many initiatives undertaken under your leadership, PM-JANMAN and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan hold a special place in my heart.
Your inspiring journey continues to instil hope and renewed confidence in India’s strong democratic traditions. I pray for your good health and long life so that you continue to serve the nation, leading it towards the vision of Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat.”
Smt. Droupadi Murmu
(Hon’ble President of India)
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who has created a historic milestone by being elected by the people as India’s Prime Minister and continuously holding office for the longest period. This historic milestone does not merely signify the length of his tenure; rather, it reflects an era of transformation in our nation’s journey of development.
Just as former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln freed millions from the chains of slavery, in our time, the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has liberated more than 25 crore people from the cruel shackles of extreme poverty, illuminating the lives of millions of families and achieving an unparalleled feat in human history.
Under the visionary leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India strides forward with pride across all sectors—economic growth, infrastructure expansion, social progress, technological advancement, elevating India’s stature on the global stage, and the revival of India’s cultural heritage.
His contributions to India are immeasurable: cherishing the nation’s rich cultural glories, honoring unsung historical heroes and freedom fighters, breaking free from colonial mindsets, and strengthening our grip on cultural identities. Initiatives like the Kashi Tamil Sangam, Saurashtra Tamil Sangam, installing the sacred Sengol in the new Parliament building, the journey to Gangaikonda Cholapuram to celebrate the glorious heritage of the Cholas, and retrieving rare artifacts and antiquities from abroad have enriched India’s eternal heritage and cultural traditions.
Moreover, by quoting the immortal lines of the Tamil sage Kaniyan Poongundranar—”Yadhum Oore, Yaavarum Keleer”—in his address to the United Nations, he has made the world aware of India’s noble philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” viewing the world as one family. In the journey toward the goal of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047, the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi serves as a fountain of inspiration and a guiding force for millions of people.
History never forgets great leaders who toil for the upliftment of humanity. They stand as epoch-makers in the annals of time. In this pivotal era of India’s history, through his visionary leadership, tireless dedication, and unwavering zeal for the nation’s welfare, the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has propelled the country to great heights and shines as the “Yug Purush” of contemporary India. At this moment, when he has created the historic milestone of being the Prime Minister of India, elected by the people, and continuously holding office for the longest period, I extend my sincere best wishes for his continued service to the nation.”
