Union Home Minister joins Yoga Day events in Gujarat Yoga is India’s invaluable gift to humankind: Amit Shah

     Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah participated in a yoga session in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 21 June 2026, marking the 12th International Day of Yoga, an event dedicated to promoting physical and mental health.

The International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on June 21 across the world through mass demonstrations and awareness programmes. This year’s observance centres on the theme “Yoga For Healthy Ageing,” emphasising yoga’s role in supporting a healthier and more active life at all ages. This theme encourages individuals to adopt yoga as a means to achieve healthy ageing and overall well-being.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also extended greetings to the people on the occasion of International Yoga Day. In a social media post, Shri Shah said that yoga leads to a healthy body, a peaceful mind, and a life filled with patience. He described yoga not merely as a form of exercise but as a path to achieving balance in life and fostering positivity. He said, “Yoga is India’s invaluable gift to humankind which nourishes holistic well-being through energising mind, body and soul. Joined millions across the world in Yoga Day celebration by participating in a public yoga session in Ahmedabad.”

The Home Minister noted that under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, yoga has gained global recognition and is increasingly being adopted worldwide as a way of life. Shri Shah also urged citizens to make yoga a part of their daily routine and take a pledge to move towards a healthy, empowered, and balanced life.
