Shri Modi reaffirmed that by 2047, India will surely be a developed nation and the 21st century belongs to India and its 140 crore citizens. He announced the inauguration and foundation laying of several projects related to roads, electricity, railways, highways, and trade. These initiatives will strengthen connectivity across the state, boost industrial growth, and improve the ease of living for citizens. The Prime Minister emphasized that these projects will greatly benefit Kurnool and surrounding regions, and extended his congratulations to the people of the state.

Emphasising that energy security is essential for the development of any nation or state, the Prime Minister announced the launch of a transmission project worth approximately ₹3,000 crore in the power sector, which will further enhance the country’s energy capacity. He urged citizens not to forget past conditions amidst rapid development. Eleven years ago, Shri Modi said that under the opposition-led central government, per capita electricity consumption was less than 1,000 units, and the country faced challenges like blackouts. Thousands of villages lacked even basic electricity poles. He highlighted that today, from clean energy to total energy production, India is setting new records across all sectors. Electricity has reached every village, per capita consumption has increased to 1,400 units, and both industry and households are receiving adequate power supply, noted the Prime Minister.

He announced the launch of the Natural Gas Pipeline Project from Srikakulam to Angul, which will supply gas to approximately fifteen lakh households. He also inaugurated an LPG Bottling Plant in Chittoor, with a daily filling capacity of twenty thousand cylinders. He remarked that previous governments neglected Andhra Pradesh’s capabilities, causing a setback to the entire nation. A state that could have propelled national progress was left to struggle for its own development. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that under their government, Andhra Pradesh’s trajectory is changing, with rapid growth in manufacturing. He announced the launch of an Advanced Night Vision factory in Nimmaluru, marking another step towards self-reliance in the defence sector. He added that this facility will enhance India’s capability to produce night vision equipment, missile sensors, and drone guard systems, and will elevate the country’s defence exports to new heights. He further remarked that the entire world had witnessed the success of Indigenous weapon systems during Operation Sindoor.

Expressing satisfaction that the Andhra Pradesh government has resolved to develop Kurnool as India’s drone hub, the Prime Minister stated that through the drone industry, several new sectors linked to futuristic technologies will emerge in Kurnool and across Andhra. He cited the success of drones in Operation Sindoor and affirmed that Kurnool will become a national strength in the drone sector in the coming years. Operation Sindoor is a glowing testimony to India’s growing indigenous prowess: Raksha Mantri

| Published on:

Operation Sindoor is a glowing testimony to India’s growing indigenous prowess which is a result of the Government’s relentless efforts to create a self-reliant defence manufacturing ecosystem within the country,” said Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh in Pune on October 16, 2025. He was elucidating the importance of possessing qualities such as faith and perseverance to the students of Symbiosis Skills and Professional University during their convocation ceremony.

Raksha Mantri told the students that when the Government commenced work to make India self-reliant in defence, it seemed difficult in the beginning, however, under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, no stone was left unturned to expand the domestic defence manufacturing, and the efforts began to yield positive results due to this resolve.

“We pledged to move towards transforming the defence sector because, since independence, we had been heavily dependent on other countries for weapons. We had become accustomed to purchasing weapons as we lacked the political will to manufacture in India, nor did we have the laws that promoted defence manufacturing. This required a change. It is our resolve that India manufactures indigenous weapons for its soldiers. The entire world witnessed the bravery of our soldiers during Operation Sindoor. They achieved the set objectives using large amount of Made-in-India equipment,” stated Shri Rajnath Singh.

Acknowledging the contribution of youth in defence manufacturing, Raksha Mantri stated that, in the last 10 years, annual defence production has increased from Rs 46,000 crore to a record Rs 1.5 lakh crore, of which approx. Rs 33,000 crore has been contributed by the private sector. He exuded confidence of achieving Rs 3 lakh crore defence manufacturing target and Rs 50,000 crore exports target by 2029.

Shri Rajnath Singh urged the students to move beyond academic achievement and strive to become creators, innovators and contributors to national development, emphasising that true success lies not merely in acquiring degrees but in applying knowledge meaningfully for the benefit of society.

Highlighting the importance of skill development in shaping India’s future, Raksha Mantri said: “We are no longer in the era of ‘What do you know?’. The world now asks, ‘What can you do?’ Knowledge that cannot be applied is incomplete. Skill is the bridge between learning and doing.”

Speaking about the impact of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), Shri Rajnath Singh dispelled fears about job loss and human redundancy, stating that AI will not replace humans, but those who use AI will replace those who don’t. Technology must remain a tool, not a substitute for human sensitivity, values, and ethics, he said, while also addressing the challenges posed by social media and external pressures. He exhorted the youth to follow their own dreams rather than get caught in comparisons.

As India steps into its Amrit Kaal, aiming to become a developed nation by 2047, Raksha Mantri told the students that they too are entering the most decisive phase of their lives. “The next 20-25 years won’t just shape your careers, but also shape the destiny of the Nation. Let your ambition fuel the country’s transformation,” he said.

As part of the event, School of Defence and Aerospace Technology was inaugurated by Raksha Mantri and Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis. Other Ministers of the State Government and the Vice-Chancellor of the University were present on the occasion.

Union Home Minister addresses the conference on  “Extradition of Fugitives: Challenges and Strategies” in New Delhi

| Published on:

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, addressed the conference on ‘Extradition of Fugitives: Challenges and Strategies’ organised by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as the Chief Guest in New Delhi today. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Union Home Secretary, Foreign Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, and Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In his address, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, our country is moving forward with confidence on the global stage. He emphasized that ensuring all dimensions of national security has become extremely crucial. He said that while maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, crime, and terrorism within the country, we must also adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards those operating such activities from beyond India’s borders. It is our responsibility to bring all such criminals under the purview of Indian laws and to create a robust mechanism for this purpose. The Home Minister said that this conference, with the provisions available under Interpol and three new criminal laws, is a concerted effort to enable the presence of a fugitive criminal before Indian courts and also provides a roadmap for achieving the same.  The Union Home Minister said that, acting on the suggestion he had made about a year and a half ago, the CBI has implemented the concept of fugitive extradition on the ground, and the organization deserves appreciation for this.

Shri Amit Shah said that it should be our collective resolve that no matter how cunning a criminal may be, the reach of justice must be even swifter. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a strong India is moving forward to ensure not only border security but also the strengthening of the Rule of Law. The Home Minister emphasized that the two-day conference will ensure coordination among Global Operation, Strong Coordination, and Smart Diplomacy. He also said that the theme of the conference is extremely imprtant and relevant. The discussions and measures suggested during this conference will prove highly beneficial for national security, the country’s economic prosperity, and overcoming policy complexities. Shri Shah highlighted that the conference will feature meaningful discussions across seven sessions on various topics, including cyber technology, financial crimes, tracing the source and flow of funds, simplifying complex extradition processes, bringing fugitives back, creating a database of their geographical locations, and utilizing this mechanism through cooperation with international police.

Union Home Minister said that the issue of fugitive criminals is linked to the country’s sovereignty, economic stability, law and order, and national security. After a long time, a structured approach is being developed on this subject. He said that the time has come to ensure a system that adopts a ruthless approach and brings every fugitive before the Indian justice system in a time-bound manner. Shri Shah emphasized that two elements—assurance and ecosystem—are essential to apprehend any fugitive. He stressed the need to eliminate the assurance in the minds of fugitive criminals that the law cannot reach them. Moreover, the ecosystem of legal, financial, and political support must also be dismantled. The institutional nexus created by fugitives abroad must also be eradicated.

Shri Amit Shah said that the Indian extradition system requires two key elements—purpose and process. The Home Minister outlined that our extradition system should have five objectives: ensuring the reach of justice beyond borders, strengthening national security by making the identification system state-of-the-art and precise, enhancing our international credibility regarding law and judicial systems, protecting the economic system while involving other countries in our concerns, and gaining global acceptance for the Rule of Law. Shri Shah emphasized that by improving the process through seamless communication, a strategic approach, and organized execution, we can achieve this goal.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that with the cooperation of the CBI, every state must establish a unit dedicated for creating a mechanism for bringing back fugitives who have committed crimes and fled the state. He emphasized that this effort must be accelerated through a Whole of Government approach. He further said that after Shri Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, many types of reforms have been implemented. In 2018, we introduced the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, which empowered the government to seize the assets of economic fugitives located in India. Over the past four years, the government has recovered nearly 2 billion dollars under this law. He said that the Money Laundering Act has been made more stringent and robust, and between 2014 and 2023, assets worth about 12 billion dollars have been attached. The CBI has established a special Global Operation Centre at the international level to catch fugitives worldwide, which is coordinating in real time with police agencies across the globe. Shri Shah said that from January to September this year, more than 190 Red Corner Notices have been issued, which is the highest in the history of the CBI.  Under ‘Operation Trishul’, significant action has been taken, yielding effective results. Similarly, since the establishment of BHARATPOL in January 2025, encouraging outcomes have been achieved.

Shri Amit Shah said that the Modi government has replaced the 160-year-old colonial-era laws with three new criminal laws, which constitute the biggest reform of the 21st century. He said that after 2027, justice will be delivered in any case up to the level of Supreme Court within three years. The Home Minister said that Sections 355 and 356 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) provide for Trial in Absentia. He said that this provision has been included in the law for the first time since India’s independence. Shri Shah explained that if a person is declared a fugitive, the court can proceed with the trial even in their absence, by appointing a lawyer to represent them. The Home Minister added that once a fugitive is convicted in absentia, it brings a significant change to that person’s status under international law. He emphasized that the provision of Trial in Absentia available under the BNSS should be used to the fullest extent, and trials of fugitives should proceed even in their absence.

Union Home Minister said that the actionable points emerging from this conference, along with BHARATPOL and the Trial in Absentia provisions, should be integrated to create a mechanism that exists within both the state police forces and all central agencies, with the CBI officially overseeing it. He emphasized the need to establish a robust system for sharing the database of fugitives with police forces across the entire country. Shri Shah further said that a focused coordination group should be set up within every state police force to deal with narcotics, terrorism, gangsters, and financial and cyber crimes. Shri Shah said that a focus group should be established within the police force of every state to coordinate on narcotics, terrorism, gangsters, and financial and cyber crimes. He added that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the CBI should work to strengthen and accelerate this focus group through the Multi Agency Centre (MAC). Shri Shah further said that every state police force should quickly set up an Expert Special Cell to ensure effective preparation of extradition cases. To guide these Special Cells, a dedicated division within the CBI should also be established to review extradition requests.

Shri Amit Shah said that the provision of Trial in Absentia should be used to the fullest extent, and every state should establish special prisons for fugitives in line with international standards. The Home Minister said that there is a need to develop coordination mechanisms and protocols between the passport issuance process and law enforcement agencies, so that when the process of issuing a Red Corner Notice begins against any passport holder, their passport can be red-flagged. Shri Shah further said that a special campaign should be launched to convert existing Blue Corner Notices into Red Corner Notices, and a dedicated cell for this purpose should be created in every state. He added that under the Multi Agency Centre (MAC), the CBI and IB should jointly establish a special task force to ensure smooth implementation of this entire process. The Home Minister emphasized that India cannot be truly secure until those residing abroad who harm the country’s economy, sovereignty, and security begin to fear the Indian justice system.

Bhupender Yadav represents India at the G20 Environment Ministers’ Meeting at Cape Town, South Africa

| Published on:

Extending gratitude to the Republic of South Africa for leadering efforts for advancing the theme ‘Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability’, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, delivered India’s statement at the G20 Climate and Environmental Sustainability Working Group Ministerial Meeting, in Cape Town, South Africa today. The Minister called on the delegates to tread the path of building a world united in purpose, equal in right and resources, committed to the planet.

In his address, Shri Yadav expressed satisfaction that as Paris Agreement completes 10 years, all countries came together to determine their NDCs, work towards them, and in many cases, like India, started attaining their goals even before the designated timelines.

Reaffirming the gathering that India is always a part of the solution, the Minister urged that the G20 must act as a bridge between ambition and implementation, ensuring that every nation’s contribution is respected and every nation’s capacity is enhanced. “We must reaffirm the principles of ‘Common but differentiated responsibilities and Respective Capabilities’. Finance to developing countries to meet the vital environmental challenges needs to be honoured as an onerous duty rather than a mere promise because equality is not a privilege – it is a right”, he added.

Shri Yadav reminded that Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in his address last year at the G20 Summit, highlighted the relevance of going ‘back to the basics’ and the importance of integrating it with our ‘march to the future’. “Ecosystem-based solutions and futuristic technologies must converge to create a sustainable future. Knowledge sharing, capacity building, technology co-development and transfer will play a significant role in attaining sustainability”, he stated.

The Minister advocated a ‘whole-of-the-society’ approach and ‘pro-planet lifestyle choices’ of individuals shall be most relevant for achieving meaningful and tangible outcomes. “We sincerely appreciate and fully support the people-centric, holistic, integrated and collaborative approach proposed by the South African Presidency”, he concluded.

Press statement by PM during the Joint Press Statement with the President of Mongolia

| Published on:

Your Excellency President Khurelsukh,
Delegates from both countries,
Friends from the media

Namaskar!

Sain bain uu

It gives me great pleasure to welcome President Khurelsukh and his delegation to India.

The President of Mongolia is visiting India after six years, making this a very special occasion. This visit comes as India and Mongolia celebrate 70 years of diplomatic ties and 10 years of Strategic Partnership. To mark this, we have released a Joint Postal Stamp, highlighting our shared heritage, diversity, and strong civilizational bonds

Friends,

Today, our meeting began with a tree-planting ceremony under the “EK Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. President Khurelsukh planted a banyan tree in honor of his late mother, which will stand as a symbol of our deep friendship and our shared commitment to the environment, for generations to come.

Friends,

Ten years ago, during my visit to Mongolia, we elevated our partnership to a Strategic Partnership. Over the past decade, this partnership has grown stronger and deeper across every dimension.

Our defence and security cooperation is also steadily strengthening. We have launched several new initiatives, from training programs to the appointment of a Defense Attaché at the Embassy. India will also launch a new capacity-building program for Mongolia’s border security forces.

Friends,

Our approach to global issues is based on our shared values. We stand as close partners in international forums, supporting a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific. Together, we also work to amplify the voice of the Global South.

Friends,

The relationship between India and Mongolia is more than just a diplomatic relationship. It is a deep, soulful, and spiritual bond. The depth and scope of our partnership is reflected in our people-to-people ties.

Both our countries share the age-old bond of Buddhism, which is why we are also called spiritual siblings. Today, we made several important decisions to further strengthen this tradition and our historic ties. I am happy to announce that next year, the holy relics of two great disciples of Lord Buddha – Sariputra and Maudgalyayana – will be sent from India to Mongolia.

We will also send a Sanskrit teacher to Gandan Monastery to support in-depth study of Buddhist texts and continue the ancient tradition of knowledge. We have decided to soon launch a project to digitize one million ancient manuscripts. Nalanda University has played a vital role in Buddhism in Mongolia, and today we have agreed to strengthen this historic connection by linking Nalanda with Gandan Monastery.

Our relationship goes beyond the Central Governments. The MoU signed today between the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council and Mongolia’s Arkhangai Province will give a fresh boost to our cultural ties.

Friends,

Even though we do not share a border, India has always considered Mongolia a close neighbour. We will continue to strengthen people-to-people ties. We have decided to provide free e-visas to Mongolian citizens. And we will sponsor the annual visit of young cultural ambassadors from Mongolia to India.

Friends,

India has been a strong and reliable partner in Mongolia’s development.

The Oil Refinery Project, supported by India’s $1.7 billion line of credit, will strengthen Mongolia’s energy security. It is India’s largest development partnership project globally, with over 2,500 Indian professionals working alongside their Mongolian counterparts to make it a reality.

We have also strengthened our cooperation in skill development. Through the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre of Excellence for IT and the India-Mongolia Friendship School, the aspirations of Mongolia’s youth are reaching new heights. These projects are a testament to the depth of our friendship.

Today, we are also announcing several projects aimed at improving the lives of ordinary people. We will continue these efforts, keeping the needs of the people of Mongolia at the forefront.

I am happy that our private sector is also exploring new possibilities of cooperation in areas such as energy, critical minerals, rare-earths, digital, mining, agriculture, dairy, and cooperatives.

Excellency,

Our relations are built on a solid foundation of trust and friendship between two ancient civilizations. They are nurtured by a shared cultural heritage, democratic values, and a shared commitment to development. I am confident that together we will take this strategic partnership to new heights.

Once again, I thank you for this historic visit and for your unwavering friendship and commitment to India.

Bayarla

Thank you very much.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah addressed the 41st Foundation Day celebration of the National Security Guard (NSG) in Manesar, Gurugram, as the chief guest. The Home Minister also performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the Special Operations Training Centre (S.O.T.C.) at the NSG campus. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, and the Director General of NSG.

In his address, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah said that with the three principles of SarvatraSarvottam, and Suraksha, along with SamarpanSaahas and Rashtrabhakti as its virtues, the NSG has fought a significant battle against terrorism in the country for four decades. He said that every citizen of the country feels assured that our security and the fight against terrorism are in very safe hands. Shri Shah stated that the resolute, courageous, and strategic manner in which NSG personnel have fought against terrorism, delivering results, is etched in golden letters in India’s security history.

Union Home Minister said that the foundation stone for the Special Operations Training Centre (S.O.T.C.) was laid today. He said that this centre, being built on 8 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 141 crore, will provide state-of-the-art training to special commandos combating terrorism. At the S.O.T.C, not only NSG personnel but also anti-terror units established within police forces across the country will be trained with cutting-edge technology to prepare them for the fight against terrorism. Shri Shah emphasized that in a vast country like India, the central government alone cannot tackle terrorism; rather, all state governments, special units of state police forces, NSG, and all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) must work together to ensure the country’s safety. He added that this S.O.T.C will, in the coming days, sharpen the nation’s fight against terrorism and keep our forces ever-ready.

Shri Amit Shah said that since 1984, the NSG has embodied the three principles of SarvatraSarvottam and Suraksha, safeguarding the nation with bravery and capability through operations like Operation AshwamedhOperation Vajra Shakti, and Operation Dhangu, as well as during the Akshardham attack and the Mumbai terrorist attacks. He said that the entire nation takes pride in the NSG’s courage and dedication. Shri Shah announced that in the coming days, the Modi government will bring significant changes to the NSG’s operations. He said that six NSG hubs have already been established in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Jammu, where NSG commandos are stationed round the clock for 365 days of year. The Home Minister added that a new NSG hub is now being established in Ayodhya. The commandos at this hub will always be ready and available to provide a strong response to any sudden terrorist attack in their zone. Shri Shah emphasized that the NSG headquarters will continuously focus on training NSG personnel and anti-terrorism units of state police forces across the country, sharing best practices, and ensuring the fitness of the forces.

Union Home Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. He said that since 2019, the Modi government has been taking significant steps to protect the country from terrorist threats. He highlighted that the Modi government amended the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act, activated the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to choke the funding of terror groups, and established a system for scientific investigation of terror funding. Shri Shah added that the government banned the Popular Front of India (PFI), strengthened the Multi Agency Center (MAC), initiated data sharing with investigative agencies across the country through Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) and National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), and, for the first time, defined terrorism in three new criminal laws to address loopholes.

Shri Amit Shah said that over 57 individuals and organizations have been declared as terrorist organizations and terrorists, enabling successful control over their activities. He said that the Modi government, through actions like the abrogation of Article 370, surgical strikes, air strikes, and Operation Sindoor, has dealt severe blows to the core of terrorist networks. He said that our security agencies have proven that they will track down and punish terrorists even from the depths. Now, terrorists cannot hide anywhere in the world. The Home Minister added that Operation Sindoor destroyed the headquarters of Pakistani terror groups planning attacks on India, along with their training camps and launch pads. He further said that Operation Mahadev eliminated the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, thereby boosting the nation’s confidence in our security forces.

Union Home Minister said that over the past four decades, NSG personnel have conducted reconnaissance of over 770 critical locations across the country and created a data bank with strategic plans to counter potential terrorist attacks. Moreover, the NSG has meticulously planned the security of hospitals, religious sites, other vital institutions, waterways, and the Parliament of India. Shri Shah highlighted that whether it is the Mahakumbh, Puri’s Rath Yatra, or any religious event, the NSG has become a symbol of courage, dedication, and security. He said that in the coming days, the Modi government will not only equip the NSG with cutting-edge technology but also bring significant changes to its operations. He expressed confidence that the NSG will continue to uphold its four-decade legacy for many years to come.

Shri Amit Shah also said that since 2019, personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have planted over 6.5 crore saplings as part of a tree plantation campaign, contributing significantly to preserving the country’s greenery. He said that CAPF personnel have nurtured these plants like their own children, playing a major role in protecting the environment.

Give preference to ‘Made in India’ products: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

| Published on:

Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today visited the Indian Council of Agricultural Research–Indian Institute of Maize Research (ICAR-IIMR) in Ludhiana, Punjab, during which he inaugurated the newly constructed administrative building and interacted with maize stakeholders, farmers, beneficiaries of rural development schemes, and members of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The Union Minister also addressed a press conference, highlighting key central government initiatives and development programmes for Punjab in the fields of agriculture and rural development.

The event was attended by Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu, and Punjab Agriculture Minister Shri Gurmeet Singh Khudian.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Chouhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the central government’s foremost goals are to increase foodgrain production, reduce production costs, and raise farmers’ incomes. He noted that while India is fully self-sufficient in wheat and rice, diversification in agriculture is essential. “After wheat and rice, maize is the third most important crop in our country. Beyond being a food crop, it has multiple industrial uses. Maize can also serve as a sustainable alternative to paddy, conserving water while yielding better returns for farmers,” the Union Minister said. Shri Chouhan emphasised the importance of the Indian Institute of Maize Research, noting that its work has played a vital role in improving maize productivity and supporting agricultural diversification.

The Union Minister announced that the Central Government has released ₹74 crore for the free distribution of wheat seeds to compensate farmers for crop losses in Punjab. Funds have also been approved for mustard and other seed varieties. Additionally, under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, ₹222 crore has already been transferred in advance to the accounts of 11.09 lakh farmers. Assistance under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) will also be provided to support farmers affected in the horticulture sector.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to Punjab’s recovery and resilience, Shri Chouhan said that the Prime Minister is deeply concerned about the flood damage in the state. The Central Government has sanctioned a package of ₹1,600 crore to support flood-affected families. Shri Chouhan announced that ₹1.60 lakh per family has been approved for the reconstruction of 36,703 damaged houses, including ₹1.20 lakh for the construction of houses, and ₹40,000 for labour and toilet facilities. He further urged citizens to prioritise Indian-made products (Swadeshi), stating that this would empower local artisans, retain wealth within the country, and strengthen India’s economy. “By supporting indigenous products, we not only promote self-reliance but also ensure prosperity for our local communities,” Shri Chouhan said.

PM launches two major schemes in the agriculture sector with an outlay of Rs 35,440 crore

| Published on:

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in a special Krishi programme at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi, today. The Prime Minister also interacted with farmers before participating in the public programme.

The Prime Minister  launched two major schemes in the agriculture sector, with an outlay of Rs 35,440 crore. He launched the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana which has an outlay of Rs.24,000 crore. He also launched the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses with an outlay of Rs. 11,440 crore. The Prime Minister also inaugurated and dedicated to the nation projects valued at over Rs 5,450 crore in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors, while laying the foundation stone for additional projects worth around Rs 815 crore.

Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister remarked, “Today is a historic day that marks the birth anniversaries of two of Maa Bharati’s illustrious sons who redefined India’s democratic fabric and rural development. Jayaprakash Narayan ji and Nanaji Deshmukh ji were the voices of rural Bharat and dedicated their lives to the empowerment of farmers and the underprivileged”.

Marking the significant occasion, the Prime Minister  underscored that the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Dalhan Atmanirbharta Mission (Pulse Self-Reliance Mission) are designed to usher in a new era of self-reliance, rural empowerment, and agricultural innovation, directly benefiting crores of farmers across the nation. “The Government of India will invest over ₹35,000 crore in these initiatives, reflecting its unwavering commitment to doubling farmers’ incomes and achieving food and nutritional security for the country”, Shri Modi said.

The Prime Minister  emphasized the central role that agriculture and farming have always played in India’s development journey. Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister recalled the long-standing neglect faced by the agricultural sector during previous governments and reaffirmed his commitment to empowering India’s farmers. He noted that a rapidly developing 21st-century India required a robust and reformed agricultural system, and this transformation began after 2014 under his government. “We broke away from the apathy of the past. From seed to market, we introduced comprehensive reforms in the interest of our farmers. These reforms were not just policy changes. They were structural interventions aimed at making Indian agriculture modern, sustainable, and resilient,” Shri Modi said.

The Prime Minister stated that in the last eleven years, India’s agricultural exports have nearly doubled. Foodgrain production has increased by approximately 90 million metric tonnes. Fruit and vegetable production has grown by more than 64 million metric tonnes. India today ranks first in the world in milk production and is the second-largest fish producer globally. Honey production has doubled compared to 2014, and egg production has also doubled over the same period.

He further informed that six major fertilizer plants have been established in the country during this time. More than 25 crore Soil Health Cards have been distributed to farmers. Micro-irrigation facilities have reached 100 lakh hectares of agricultural land. Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, insurance claims worth ₹2 lakh crore have been disbursed to farmers.

Over the past eleven years, more than 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) have been formed to enhance farmer cooperation and market access.

The Prime Minister shared that he had spent time interacting with farmers, fishermen, and women working in the agriculture sector. He listened to their experiences and insights and noted that such interactions reflect the true transformation taking place in Indian agriculture.

The Prime Minister stated that the current spirit of the nation no longer settles for limited achievements. He emphasized that if India is to become a developed country, continuous improvement and progress in every sector is essential. It is with this vision that the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana has been launched.

The Prime Minister highlighted that this new agricultural initiative draws inspiration from the success of the Aspirational Districts Programme. He recalled how previous governments had declared over a hundred districts in the country as “backward” and largely neglected them thereafter. In contrast, his government chose to focus on these districts with a targeted and dynamic approach, redesignating them as “aspirational districts.”

He outlined the strategy of convergence, collaboration, and competition for transformation in these districts. “All efforts were united under the spirit of “Sabka Prayas” and a model of healthy competition was encouraged among districts to drive faster development” Shri Modi underscored.

The Prime Minister noted that in these 100+ districts, approximately 20 percent of villages had never seen a road since Independence. “Today, thanks to the focused implementation of the Aspirational Districts Programme, the majority of these villages have been connected with all-weather roads”, Shri Modi added. He also highlighted the improvement in healthcare delivery. At the beginning of the programme, 17 percent of children in these districts remained outside the coverage of basic immunization. Now, most of these children have been brought under full immunization coverage. “Over 15 percent of schools in these districts lacked electricity. Today, nearly every such school has been equipped with a power connection, ensuring a more conducive learning environment for children”, Shri Modi noted.

These achievements, he said, are a direct result of a development model built on convergence, collaboration, and competition, where coordinated efforts across departments and active participation from citizens have delivered tangible results.

Shri Modi emphasized that the inspiration behind the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana comes directly from the success of the Aspirational Districts model. “The selection of these 100 districts has been carried out with thoughtful consideration and based on three key parameters, First, the level of agricultural output per unit of land. Second, the number of times crops are cultivated on the same land within a year. Third, the availability and extent of institutional loans or investment facilities for farmers” Shri Modi highlighted.

“We have often heard the phrase “36 ka aankda”, a way of saying that two parties are completely at odds with each other. But as a government, we challenge such perceptions and reverse them”, Shri Modi remarked. He underscored that under the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, we are bringing together 36 different government schemes in a unified and coordinated manner. Whether it is the National Mission on Natural Farming, the ‘Per Drop More Crop’ campaign for efficient irrigation, or the Oilseeds Mission to boost oilseed production. Many such initiatives are being integrated under one umbrella including special focus on livestock development. “Under the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, localized livestock health campaigns will also be launched to ensure continued care and disease prevention at the grassroots level” , Shri Modi said.

The Prime Minister reiterated that just like the Aspirational Districts Programme, the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana places a significant responsibility not only on the farmers but also on local government officials, particularly the District Magistrate or Collector of each district. The design of this scheme allows flexibility so that the planning can be tailored according to the specific needs of each district. “Therefore, I earnestly urge the farmers and district leaders to prepare district-level action plans that are suited to the local soil and climate conditions”, Shri Modi emphasised.

Shri Modi said that the Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission is aimed not only at increasing pulse production but also at strengthening the future generations of the country. The Prime Minister highlighted that India’s farmers have recently achieved record production of food grains such as wheat and rice, positioning India among the world’s top producers. “However, there is a need to look beyond just flour and rice for sustenance. While these staples can relieve hunger, proper nutrition requires a more diverse diet. Protein, especially for the largely vegetarian population of India, plays a critical role in both physical and mental growth. Pulses remain the most significant source of plant-based protein” Shri Modi noted.

“The Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission seeks to address this challenge by boosting domestic pulse production, thereby enhancing nutritional security and self-reliance. The Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission, with an investment of over 11,000 crore rupees, will provide substantial support to farmers”, he emphasized. Shri Modi highlighted that the goal is to increase the area under pulse cultivation by 35 lakh hectares. Under this mission, production of tur, urad, and masoor pulses will be increased, and a proper system for procurement of pulses will be ensured. This will directly benefit nearly two crore pulse farmers across the country.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers, describing them as one of the four foundational pillars of a developed India, as outlined in his address from the Red Fort. He stated that over the past eleven years, the government has made consistent efforts to empower farmers and increase investment in agriculture. This priority is clearly visible in the nearly sixfold increase in the agriculture budget during this period.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this expanded budget has primarily benefited small and marginal farmers, who form the backbone of Indian agriculture. Citing an example, he reminded the nation that India provides substantial fertilizer subsidies to support its farmers and reduce their input costs. This policy is part of a broader effort to ensure that agriculture remains sustainable, productive, and profitable for all.

Emphasizing the government’s commitment to increasing farmers’ income by expanding opportunities beyond traditional agriculture, Shri Narendra Modi stated that sectors like animal husbandry, fisheries, and beekeeping are being actively promoted to provide additional income sources, particularly for small and landless farmers.

Highlighting the honey production sector as a success story, the Prime Minister noted that India’s honey output has nearly doubled in the last eleven years. He further shared that while honey exports stood at around ₹450 crore six to seven years ago, they have now surged to over ₹1,500 crore. This dramatic rise in exports, he said, represents three times more income flowing directly to farmers, demonstrating the tangible benefits of agricultural diversification and value addition.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s focus on empowering farmers through innovation, investment, and market access, making them key drivers of a self-reliant and developed India.

Shri Modi hailed the growing role of women in transforming Indian agriculture and rural prosperity. He stated that whether in crop cultivation, animal husbandry, or natural farming, women are emerging as key leaders in the rural economy. He cited the government’s ongoing campaign to create three crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ as a powerful initiative that is also directly supporting the agricultural sector. “One notable example is the rise of Namo Drone Didis across India’s villages, who are now using modern drone technology for spraying fertilizers and pesticides. This innovation has not only improved agricultural efficiency but also provided significant new income streams for rural women”, Shri Modi highlighted.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the critical role of women in promoting natural farming. “More than 17,000 dedicated clusters have been established to support this sustainable approach. Additionally, around 70,000 trained ‘Krishi Sakhis’ are actively providing guidance to farmers on adopting natural and eco-friendly agricultural practices” Shri Modi added.

He reiterated that empowering women in agriculture is not just a matter of social justice, but a strategic step toward achieving a modern, self-reliant, and prosperous rural India.

Highlighting how recent GST reforms have brought direct economic relief to India’s farmers and rural families by making agricultural equipment and essential items more affordable, he noted that under the newly reformed GST system tractor is now ₹40,000 cheaper, offering significant savings to farmers during this festive season with additional price reductions on drip irrigation systems, sprinkler equipment, and harvesting tools. He also highlighted that the cost of organic fertilizers and bio-pesticides, used in natural farming, has come down due to lower GST rates, providing a further boost to sustainable agriculture.

PM Modi emphasized that these reforms have resulted in double savings for rural households and lower costs on both daily use items and farming tools.

Reiterating the historic contribution of Indian farmers in making the country self-reliant in food production, the Prime Minister called upon them to now lead the way in building a developed India. Concluding his address, Shri Modi urged farmers to not only work towards self-sufficiency but also to target the global market by growing export-oriented crops that can reduce imports and boost India’s agricultural exports.  He stated that the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission will play vital roles in this journey and extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to farmers across the nation.
