The recently concluded India-AI Impact Summit 2026, held at the iconic Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, marked a significant milestone in India’s rise as a global technology leader. As the first major global AI summit hosted in the Global South, it signalled that India is no longer merely a consumer of technology but an emerging architect of the global digital future. Under the visionary and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the summit shifted global discussions from abstract risks to practical development outcomes. It highlighted India’s Digital India vision and reaffirmed the commitment to Viksit Bharat through innovation, inclusion, and responsible AI governance. The summit highlighted AI’s transformative impact on India’s domestic ecosystem by integrating it with Digital Public Infrastructure to democratize access. Initiatives like Kisan e-Mitra and AI-driven healthcare show how scalable, trusted AI solves real problems. Plans for AI Content Creator Labs in 15,000 schools aim to nurture youth as innovators in the Orange Economy.

While the world watched India’s technological rise with admiration at the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, it was deeply unfortunate that the Congress attempted to disrupt this moment of national pride. Instead of celebrating India’s emergence as a

global leader in artificial intelligence, these protests reflected a narrow and cynical political mindset. The actions mirrored a long-standing pattern within the Congress led by Rahul Gandhi —placing partisan politics above national interest. The repeated attempt by Congress to negatively present India’s constitutional institutions abroad, questioning electoral processes, and making remarks are aimed at damaging the nation’s global image. At a time when the government under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is positioning India as a global hub for innovation through initiatives like Digital India, Startup India, and the vision of Viksit Bharat, such disruptive conduct only exposes the Congress party’s discomfort with India’s growing global stature. A sections of the Opposition led by Congress appear determined to undermine every national achievement for short-term political headlines rather than contributing to constructive debate.

It was a remarkable achievement that despite these distractions, the summit firmly established India as a Vishwamitra in the digital age—championing ethical, inclusive, and development-oriented AI while advancing the vision of “AI for All.” The summit was anchored in three guiding pillars—People, Planet, and Progress—and structured around the Seven Chakras of international collaboration, reflecting India’s holistic approach to technological advancement. This framework emphasized that innovation must transcend mere technological breakthroughs and serve a higher purpose ensuring that the benefits of emerging technologies reach the last mile and empower every section of society. A key highlight was the unveiling of cutting-edge, homegrown Large Language Models, including BharatGen’s Param2, designed to support 22 Indian languages, and Sarvam AI’s powerful 105-billion-parameter model. These breakthroughs demonstrate India’s growing capacity to develop foundational AI technologies tailored to its vast linguistic and cultural diversity. The announcement of a sovereign AI infrastructure strategy built on a “whole-of-nation” approach including the plan of addition of over 20,000 high-end GPUs to exponentially enhance India’s national computing capacity while attracting investment commitments worth nearly $250 billion. As the summit concluded, the vision of building a technologically empowered Viksit Bharat got further strengthened.
