As the Bharatiya Janata Party celebrates its 47th Foundation Day across the nation, one more dream of its millions of Karyakartas stands fulfilled. The dream of seeing a ‘Naxal-Free India’ under the strong and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has come true; one more roadblock on the path to realising the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ has been removed. It is to be noted that in the last 11 years, India’s internal security landscape has undergone a marked transformation, shifting from a reactive and fragmented approach to one driven by proactive, intelligence-led strategies and integrated development, resulting in
In the last 11 years, India’s internal security landscape has undergone a marked transformation, shifting from a reactive and fragmented approach to one driven by proactive, intelligence-led strategies and integrated development, resulting in weeding out the left-wing extremist elements
weeding out the left-wing extremist elements across the nation. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah, while replying to the debate on left-wing extremism in Parliament, has rightly said that earlier responses to Left-Wing Extremism were often hindered by weak coordination and limited strategic clarity, resulting in repeated high-casualty incidents such as the 2010 Dantewada ambush and thousands of violent episodes. While under the determined and decisive leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, the government has adopted a comprehensive and multi-pronged strategy that combines strong security operations with development and governance outreach. This approach emphasizes better intelligence coordination, targeted counterinsurgency measures, infrastructure expansion, and community empowerment. As a result, there has been a steady decline in violence and fatalities, along with a renewed sense of public confidence.
A key element of this shift has been the strengthening of security infrastructure. The establishment of over 576 fortified police stations and 361 security camps, along with 68 night-landing helipads, has enhanced operational readiness and mobility. This has enabled forces to access previously inaccessible areas such as Abujhmad, Budha Pahar, and Parasnath Hills. Consequently, the number of affected districts has dropped significantly from 126 in 2014 to just 11 in 2025, while thousands of Naxalites have surrendered. The government has also targeted the financial networks sustaining extremism. Agencies like the National Investigation Agency and the Enforcement Directorate have led crackdowns on illicit funding, weakening insurgent capabilities. At the same time, expanded banking infrastructure and Direct Benefit Transfers have ensured transparent welfare delivery, reducing reliance on parallel systems. While development has been central to this strategy, improved road connectivity, expanded administrative presence, educational initiatives like Eklavya Model Residential Schools, and community programs such as the Bastariya Battalion have addressed the root causes of alienation. Increased voter turnout, including over 76% in Kanker in 2024, reflects renewed faith in democracy, echoing successes like the Bodoland Peace Accord 2020. This integrated model has laid the foundation for lasting peace and stability.
As the dream of a ‘Naxal-Free India’ becomes a reality, Shri Amit Shah stated in Parliament that the fight against Naxalism has reached its decisive and final stage, with the government confident of eliminating it completely. He highlighted that the once-vast “Red Corridor,” which earlier spanned 12 states and affected a large population, has now significantly shrunk due to sustained operations and development efforts. A key point is that Naxalism is primarily an ideological problem, not merely a result of poverty or underdevelopment, with extremist groups deliberately blocking development to sustain their influence. Those who surrender are welcomed into the mainstream, given opportunities for rehabilitation, and integrated into the nation’s growth story. This achievement represents not only a major milestone in strengthening India’s internal security but also a profound ideological victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party. It underscores the triumph of its governance philosophy, rooted in nationalism, development, and inclusive growth over divisive and violent ideologies. The success reflects the power of consistent vision, decisive leadership, and grassroots commitment, reaffirming public faith in democratic institutions. As India moves forward on the path of ‘Viksit Bharat,’ this victory stands as a testament to the BJP’s enduring resolve to build a secure, united, and progressive nation.
