The UDF and LDF have never been interested in the progress of the people of Keralam: Nitin Nabin

| Published on:

Marking a historic turning point in the political landscape of Keralam, Hon’ble BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin released the party’s manifesto for the 2026 Kerala Assembly Elections today at the Sri Mulam Club, Thiruvanthapuram. Titled “Viksit Keralam” (Developed Kerala), the document presents a visionary 10-year roadmap to dismantle decades of “political match-fixing” and propel the state into a new era of industrial excellence and social security. Shri Nabin said that our manifesto is a roadmap for Viksit Keralam and it is like a “sacred pledge” to the people of Keralam who have been stifled by the alternating regimes of the LDF and UDF. He said that BJP’s vision centers on transforming Keralam into a global economic powerhouse through specialized regional hubs and unprecedented welfare schemes. During the event BJP State President Shri Rajiv Chandrasekhar, Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) President Shri Tushar Vellapally, Shri VV Rajesh, the Mayor, along with other dignitaries. Senior leaders from alliance partners, eminent personalities of the city, and members of the media were present.

Shri Nabin emphasized that the BJP’s rise in the state, evidenced by the party holding the mayor’s post in Thiruvananthapuram, proves that the “Lotus” is ready to bloom across the entire state on May 4th. He said, Today, the moment we are going to give you the manifesto, at the same time, we should know that despite the immense natural and human potential of Keralam has witnessed negligible industrial growth during LDF-UDF’s 17 years of misrule, resulting in economic stagnation and fiscal misgovernance.

Launching scathing attacks on the LDF and the UDF, Hon’ble BJP National President said, I always say that LDF and UDF are playing a match-fixing game with the people of Keralam. For 17 years of their rule, the people have paid a heavy price for it. They have fixed the game to switch power amongst each other and help their families only, and it has cost Keralam its development. The UDF and LDF have never been interested in the progress of the people of Keralam. Keralam’s ranking at 15th on the financial health index was presented as evidence of fiscal mismanagement, reckless borrowing, and a failure to generate sustainable economic growth. Despite the well-known hospitality and strengths of the people of Keralam across India, poor governance is linked to weak performance in financial and developmental indicators. It’s no secret that whether it’s the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu or other states, the Communists and the Congress have been in the same team. Even in the UPA government they were alliance partners, but they never thought of Keralam. We will bring the concept of Citizen First into reality. All 3.6 crore people of Keralam will have equal rights, equal justice and equal right to grow.

Shri Nabin asserted that the UDF and LDF have never been genuinely committed to the progress of the people of Keralam, suggesting that meaningful development would empower citizens to demand their rightful opportunities, something these parties have been unwilling to provide. Across sectors, including the crucial hospitality and tourism industry, both LDF and UDF governments were described as having failed to work effectively or realize the full potential of Keralam’s people. This underperformance was portrayed as part of a broader pattern of governance shortcomings. Such governance enabled the continuation of appeasement-based politics, which, according to the statement, came at the cost of hurting the sentiments of people from other faiths and communities.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that under the leadership of the party’s state president Shri Rajiv Chandrasekhar, detailed comparisons would be presented to highlight how the people of Keralam faced challenges during the tenure of the UPA, and how governance under the NDA has focused on development across sectors such as railways, roads, transport, and infrastructure. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the people of Keralam deserve access to all modern facilities, which have been hindered due to the misgovernance of LDF and UDF governments. With the BJP’s vote share in Keralam rising from around 2% to nearly 20%, indicating growing public trust and the emergence of a credible and decisive alternative. Guided by the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,” our manifesto is a roadmap aligned with the aspirations of the people, offering a decisive break from the governance model of the LDF and UDF.

Shri Nabin outlined that the manifesto is guided by the vision of “Viksit Keralam, Surakshit Keralam, and Vishwasam Sampannam Keralam,” forming the foundation of a governance model focused on growth, security, and public trust in Kerala. The proposed model emphasizes a corruption-free administration driven by technology and AI-enabled systems to ensure transparency, efficiency, accountability, and real-time service delivery. A “citizen-first” approach aims to guarantee equal rights, equal justice, and equal opportunities for all 3.6 crore citizens of Kerala, with a strong focus on social welfare. Key welfare measures include strengthened food security and additional support for healthcare expenses. Monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 is proposed for women from poor households. Additionally, two free LPG cylinders per year, one during Onam and one during Christmas are proposed for economically weaker families. The income limit for the Economically Weaker Sections is proposed to be increased to ₹8 lakh to support broader inclusion and upliftment. Furthermore, 20,000 liters of water per month is proposed to be provided free of cost to every household. A strengthened welfare pension of ₹3,000 per month is also proposed for women heads of poor households, widows, and senior citizens, ensuring financial security and dignity for vulnerable sections of society.

Hon’ble BJP National President said, as part of the manifesto commitments, the coverage of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY would be expanded to include every Malayali, ensuring a strong safety net during medical emergencies. An employment-linked incentive scheme has been proposed in our manifesto, under which enterprises would receive a soft loan of ₹1 lakh for every job created for residents of Kerala, aimed at boosting job creation and economic activity across the state. On cultural and religious matters, the emphasis remained on “Nation first,” with recognition of Keralam’s rich cultural heritage as a key driver of growth. Hon’ble National President attacked Rahul Gandhi for his derogatory remarks regarding Sabarimala Temple. He also raised concerns about the silence over alleged remarks by leaders associated with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, suggesting inconsistency in addressing issues related to religious sentiments. The developments surrounding Sabarimala are a part of a broader pattern linked to governance of appeasement by both LDF and UDF, with concerns that temple administration and matters of faith have not received adequate respect and protection. Devotees across Keralam are being portrayed as their traditions have been overlooked, while both fronts were accused of prioritizing political arrangements over public interest and cultural respect.

Shri Nabin assured that a special commission would be constituted to examine temple audit reports of the last 30 years, inspect temple assets, and take strict action in all cases of misuse of power across Kerala. A time-bound CBI inquiry will be held into the Sabarimala gold theft case to ensure a thorough investigation and strict punishment for those found guilty. A complete revamp of the Devaswom Boards is proposed to enhance transparency, accountability, and greater participation of devotees in temple management. On infrastructure and development, the vision aligned with the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the central government includes establishing a high-speed railway network connecting Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur, completing all phases of the Kochi Metro, and introducing metro services in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. Healthcare and education initiatives include establishing Kerala’s first AIIMS to meet the long-standing demand for advanced medical care, along with the introduction of optional English-medium schools. Urban development measures include implementing a scientific waste management system under the vision of a cleaner Keralam, constructing stronger and better road infrastructure across the state, especially in high-traffic areas, and improving connectivity. Additionally, a 125-foot statue of Thunchaththu Ezhuthachan, a pioneer of the Malayalam language, will be made to honor the cultural heritage of Keralam.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that under the proposed governance model, a comprehensive Keralam River Rejuvenation Programme would be undertaken to restore water systems and ecological balance across Keralam. A Climate Biodiversity Centre would be established in the Western Ghats under an Elephant Protection Mission, along with the setting up of three dedicated elephant hospitals to strengthen wildlife conservation. Support for cultural and educational institutions includes special assistance for the upgradation of Kerala Kalamandalam and the establishment of a Police University in the state. In agriculture, policies include implementing decisions related to farm support, ensuring Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops requiring assistance, and enabling plantation lands to adopt multi-crop agriculture through amendments in relevant land and forestry laws. On water and environmental security, a balanced approach will be taken regarding the Mullaperiyar Dam to ensure safety for Keralam while safeguarding water availability for Tamil Nadu, in coordination with the Government of India and Tamil Nadu. In the industrial sector, a special scheme will be initiated proposed to boost investment and industrial growth. Vizhinjam International Seaport would be developed into a major industrial hub with a ship repair and marine engineering cluster, supported by an elevated double rail line from Neyyattinkara yard to Vizhinjam port and a dedicated industrial corridor around the port.

Shri Nabin stated that cities across Keralam would be developed as unique economic engines through a tailored economic vision aligned with sector-specific strengths. Thiruvananthapuram is envisioned as an IT and innovation capital, Kochi as India’s shipbuilding hub, Kozhikode as a healthcare and medical innovation center, Thrissur as a cultural and tourism capital, and Kollam as an internationally competitive blue economy cluster focused on marine exports and coastal defense innovation. These sector-focused developments aim to maximize employment generation and regional economic growth. I appeal to the people of Keralam to read and understand our manifesto, which has been prepared with a citizen-first approach. He said, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the NDA government would be formed and a “double engine” government would work toward achieving the vision of “Viksit Keralam.”

Hon’ble National President contrasted the governance models of the UDF and LDF with the “Modi Guarantee,” which he defined by its emphasis on trust, development, and tangible delivery. He presented the manifesto not merely as a document, but as a firm commitment and a roadmap for Keralam’s development; he assured the public that, with their support, every promise would be fulfilled to bring about transformative change for the state.

Congress kept Assam and the North-East away not only from Delhi but also from its heart and mind for a long time: Rajnath Singh

| Published on:

Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh addressed large public meetings in Tezpur and Dergaon, Assam on Tuesday. Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the unprecedented development work carried out over the past ten years under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, and appealed to the people to once again form a Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state. Union Defence Minister stated that Congress governments have always treated Assam and the North-East stepmotherly. Congress kept Assam and the North-East away not only from Delhi but also from its heart and mind for a long time, whereas Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has given priority to Assam and the North-East and brought them into the mainstream. During the event, Sonitpur MP Shri Ranjit Dutta, MP Shri Deepak Prakash, candidate from Naduar Shri Padma Hazarika, candidate from Tezpur Shri Prithviraj Rabha, candidate from Dergaon Shri Mridul Kumar Dutta, and other leaders and office bearers were present on the stage.

Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted that Assam is a land of courage and self-respect, it is the land of the great hero Lachit Borphukan, and the brave people here have always sacrificed everything, whenever needed, to protect India’s identity and honour. The people of Assam have made up their mind that “Aako Ebar BJP Sarkar” (Once again, the BJP government). The BJP’s resolve and commitment are that the people of Assam should be respected, the state should develop, and Assam’s culture and identity must be protected at all costs. With this resolve, today the double-engine government is working in Assam under the leadership of Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Shri Rajnath Singh asserted that in the last 10 years, under the Bharatiya Janata Party government, Assam has gained a new identity in India. Congress governments always treated Assam stepmotherly and neglected it. Congress kept Assam away not only from Delhi but also from its heart and mind for a long time. Due to Congress’s misgovernance, there was a time when Assam was discussed in the context of extremism, insurgency, unrest, poverty, and hunger. But now times have changed, and today neither in India nor in the rest of the world is Assam referred to in those terms. Now, Assam is discussed in India and globally for its development, and this transformation has been brought about by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Congress governments used to call villages in border areas the “last villages” of the country, whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party changed this thinking and said that villages located on the borders are not the last but the first villages of the nation. Therefore, when it comes to development, people living in border areas should be given priority. When oil was discovered in Assam in 1953, the people of Assam had hoped that it would generate new employment and make the state prosperous. However, it is unfortunate that Congress governments deprived the people of Assam of this right and did not even allow a refinery to be set up there. After continuous struggle, a refinery was established only in 1961, but by then much time had already been lost.

Shri Singh mentioned that the work of giving a new direction and new energy to the development of Assam and the North-East was first seriously undertaken by former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also created a separate ministry for the development of the North-East in independent India so that Assam could develop rapidly. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has given the highest priority to the North-East and has instructed every minister to visit the region at least three to four times every year, review development work on the ground, and ensure that development is moving in the right direction. Today it can be clearly seen that the North-East is no longer discussed in terms of backwardness, extremism, or exploitation, but in terms of development, connectivity, “Ashta Lakshmi,” potential, progress, and prosperity, which is a matter of pride for the entire country. In the last 11 years, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has visited Assam nearly 30 times, whereas during the Congress rule, even five-year periods would pass and a Prime Minister would hardly visit the entire North-East two or three times. Today, Assam is moving forward rapidly with new confidence and has become a centre of development. Assam has emerged as an engine for the development of the entire North-East, and when Assam progresses, it will accelerate the development of the entire country. Only when Assam develops will India’s overall development be possible, and that is why Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has given special priority to the development of Assam and the North-East.

BJP Senior leader stated that in the last 10 years, Assam’s economy has witnessed remarkable growth under BJP rule. During the BJP tenure, the size of the economy has tripled, which has not happened in any other state in the country. According to the report of the Reserve Bank of India, Assam’s economy grew at a rate of 45 per cent over the last five years, from 2020 to 2025. Congress leaders are unable to understand the reason behind this rapid growth. This growth is due to the right policies and intent of the BJP government, along with the hard work and efforts of the people of Assam. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, the double-engine government has carried out extensive work for the development of Assam. When government policies are right, and the hard work of the people is given new energy, the pace of development naturally accelerates. There has been an increase in industry and investment in Assam, and infrastructure has developed rapidly. A clear difference can be seen between the condition of roads 10 years ago and today, which is a result of the efforts of the BJP government.

Shri Rajnath Singh asserted that Assam has set a target to take its economy to around 150 billion dollars by the year 2030. Even if people may not have fully understood the BJP 10–15 years ago, today they have realized that only the Bharatiya Janata Party, with the support of the people, can elevate India’s stature globally. Earlier, India did not receive the prestige and respect it deserved at the international level, and its voice was not taken seriously. However, since Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji assumed leadership, the situation has changed, and today India’s views are heard with seriousness on global platforms. Assam is witnessing unprecedented progress in all sectors such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and industry. Major institutions like AIIMS and IIM are being established in Assam, something people had never even imagined earlier that a government would come and build institutions on such a large scale.

Union Defence Minister asserted that the BJP government has decided to develop thousands of schools in Assam into modern “Dream Hubs” by the year 2035. Children will now receive better education on the soil of Assam itself and will not need to go abroad for it. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, continuous work is being done keeping the interests of farmers as the top priority. Last year, in Namrup, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji laid the foundation stone of a urea plant to be built at a cost of around ₹11,000 crore. This plant will produce more than 12 lakh metric tonnes of urea annually, ensuring that farmers do not face any shortage of fertilizers and also creating new employment and self-employment opportunities. The government has also placed special emphasis on improving connectivity in Assam. Compared to 2009–2014, the railway budget has been increased fourfold and has now reached ₹10,000 crore. The Vande Bharat Express running between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri has significantly reduced travel time. The North-East is also set to get the Shillong–Silchar High-Speed Corridor, which will be the region’s first access-controlled high-speed corridor, allowing vehicle speeds of 100 to 125 kilometers per hour.

Shri Singh remarked that till 2014, flights operated on only 7 routes in Assam, but now this number has increased to around 30 routes, making air travel much more accessible for people. The world’s longest river cruise, MV Ganga Vilas, is giving the North-East a new international identity in cruise tourism, and now not only Indians but people from across the world will come here for cruise tourism. While only three major bridges were built in about 60–65 years, the government has constructed four new mega bridges in the last 10 years. Massive bridges like Bogibeel Bridge and Dhola Sadiya Bridge have significantly strengthened Assam’s connectivity. People still remember the 2004 Dhemaji Independence Day bomb blast, when innocent children lost their lives while the entire country was celebrating Independence Day. He also referred to the 2008 Guwahati blasts, which filled people’s lives with insecurity, fear, and anxiety. Between 2001 and 2015, Assam witnessed an average of 313 insurgency-related incidents every year, during the period of Congress rule. Today, Assam is changing, and there is an atmosphere of peace, trust, and development. A state that once remained in the headlines for insurgency is now hosting investment summits and inviting investments from across India and the world. Under the government of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, whether it is terrorism, Naxalism, or insurgency, all are now moving towards an end. More than 7,500 insurgents have laid down arms and returned to the mainstream.

Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted that the mindset of Congress leaders has always been one of doubt and neglect towards Assam. When development was discussed after BJP governments came to power, Congress leaders used to mock it and question how the BJP could achieve what they themselves could not accomplish in so many years but the BJP has delivered. Now a semiconductor project is being established in Assam, which will create new opportunities for the youth and take the state to new heights of industrial development. Despite this, Congress leaders claim that there is no ecosystem of skill and innovation in Assam and the North-East, and that nothing can be done there. Congress leaders raise such questions and make such statements. Shri Singh referred to remarks by Priyank Kharge, who questioned in English why semiconductor industries were going to Assam and Gujarat and whether there was any talent there. He said such statements insult the youth of Assam and put their capability and talent in the dock. This is an attempt to belittle the youth of Assam. In this election, the youth of Assam will give a reply to Congress.

Union Defence Minister asserted that the people of Assam have the ability to work hard and possess talent, which needs to be recognized. However, Congress leaders were not willing to understand this and perhaps will now realize it after seeing the progress. Shri Rajnath Singh stated that Congress wants to settle Bangladeshi infiltrators in Assam to expand its vote bank, and that illegal settlement of people is being done for votes. Incidents have come to light where, in Congress meetings, the national anthem of Bangladesh was played instead of India’s national anthem, citing an example from a Congress Seva Dal program in Sribhumi district. This is a challenge to the self-respect of the people of Assam and the North-East and reflects the mindset of Congress, which, according to him, has given protection to Bangladeshi infiltrators in Assam. Shri Singh assured that if the government is formed again, no illegal infiltrator will be allowed to stay in Assam.

Shri Singh remarked that a renowned scholar, Verrier Elwin, after travelling across many countries and regions, had remarked that nowhere had he seen the kind of politeness and humility found among the people of Assam. Hospitality, simplicity, and warmth are the identity of Assam, and the state has always welcomed people with an open heart. Unfortunately, this simplicity and innocence of the people of Assam were misused, and infiltrators were settled here for vote bank politics, which disturbed the demographic balance of the state. In 2017, a committee headed by former Election Commissioner H. S. Brahma had noted in one of its reports that the influence of illegal infiltrators had increased in 15 districts of Assam, posing a threat to the existence and rights of local residents. When the demographic balance of a state is altered, it naturally impacts its culture, land, and identity. Such actions were carried out for vote bank politics, crossing all limits of propriety. The birthplace of Srimanta Sankardev in Nagaon had also remained under the control of infiltrators for a long time. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, lakhs of bighas of land have been freed from encroachment by infiltrators in Assam, and the land that was earlier occupied has been reclaimed, where rapid development work is now taking place.

Shri Singh linked Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma’s name with the letters ‘H’, ‘B’, and ‘S’, where ‘H’ stands for courage, ‘B’ stands for trust and development, and ‘S’ stands for security qualities that are reflected in his leadership. People have affectionately addressed him as “Mama,” which reflects the public’s love for him. During the Congress rule, corruption had crossed all limits, and no work was done without paying “Chai-Pani” . Now the situation has changed, and people no longer need to pay bribes to get their work done. Union Defence Minister appealed to the people of Assam to once again support the BJP so that corruption can be completely eliminated. Tea and tea garden workers in Assam were neglected by Congress governments and were deprived of their rights. For many years, families associated with tea gardens did not have legal documents for their land. However, the present government has worked in this direction, and now these families are getting their land rights back, and the path for providing them with pucca houses is also being rapidly paved.

Shri Rajnath Singh asserted that people living in tea gardens are not only receiving land, but also security, respect, and dignity. Women working in tea gardens are being given assistance of ₹15,000 during pregnancy, which is happening for the first time in Assam’s history. He said that the Assam government is also opening “Ayushman Arogya Mandirs” in tea gardens, and model tea garden schools are being established for the children of tea tribes. Reservation has also been provided for youth from tea tribes. Assam is famous across the world for Muga and Eri silk. Mahatma Gandhi had said about Assam that women of Assam weave poetry on their looms, reflecting the richness of its artistic tradition. The present government is working to take the silk industry to new heights. To strengthen the silk industry, financial assistance is being provided to producers, infrastructure is being rapidly developed, skill development programs are being run for weavers, and the “Golden Silk Park and Trade Centre” has also been launched in Guwahati. Several such important steps have been taken by the government.

Union Defence Minister remarked that while Congress neglected Assam and its language, the Bharatiya Janata Party has always given the highest priority to the state’s culture and identity. In 2003, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee included the Bodo language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Today, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Assamese language has been given the status of a “Classical Language.” Shri Rajnath Singh appealed to the people to elect Bharatiya Janata Party candidates and once again form a BJP government in Assam.

The Congress has extended its hand to infiltrators, whereas the BJP places its unwavering faith in the people of Assam: Nitin Nabin

| Published on:

Hon’ble BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin addressed a public meeting held in Morigaon, and Bokakhat in Assam on Monday. While referring the significant transformation, cultural pride, and development journey witnessed in Assam over the past 10 years, he said that Assam will once again bless the BJP and further strengthen this pace of development under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji & our Assam CM, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma ji. Shri Nabin stated that just as we say ‘A for Apple’, now there should also be ‘A for Assam’. The letter ‘A’ is linked with the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat, and with this spirit, rapid work is being carried out towards making Assam self-reliant. Assam BJP State President and MP Shri Dilip Saikia, Assam Government Minister Shri Pijush Hazarika, Dr. Tapan Das, Shri Anil Saikia, and other senior leaders were present on the stage.

Shri Nabin stated that the massive turnout of people today clearly indicates that even before the elections, the public has made up its mind to ensure victory for the BJP, and that the people of Assam stand firmly with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma. The election must be fought with full determination and that the margin of 77,000 votes achieved in the last Lok Sabha election should be increased further. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is working across the country with the resolve to make women “Lakhpati Didis,” and under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government is also continuously making efforts to empower women and make them self-reliant. Since the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister are deeply committed to the welfare of mothers and sisters, the people of Assam should ensure a decisive victory for NDA candidates, including Pijush Hazarika, by electing them with a large margin.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji interacted with booth presidents across Assam and clearly stated in his address how, over the past 10 years, Assam has progressed with development, trust, and its heritage moving together. A decade ago, Assam was known for violence, migration, and investors leaving the state. In contrast, today Assam is being discussed for its new possibilities, renewed hope, and its rapid pace of development. It was further stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji highlighted how mothers, sisters, and youth are continuously contributing to the progress of Assam, and that the consistent support and blessings of the people have ensured sustained momentum in the state’s development.

Shri Nabin stated that the confidence of the people of Assam has naturally increased, as today housing schemes for the poor are being implemented, women have received gas connections, and permanent houses have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Under the Ayushman scheme, the poor are receiving free healthcare, which shows that the people of Assam are getting the support and affection of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. This is perhaps the first time a Prime Minister has visited the North East more than 50 times, whereas earlier it was considered surprising if Prime Ministers visited even once in five years. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji not only visits but brings new projects and schemes for the people of Assam every time. Some people accuse BJP of appeasement politics, but when it comes to giving the people of Assam their rights, it is labeled as appeasement. When efforts are made to provide land rights, housing, and development schemes, those too are called appeasement. Congress stands with infiltrators, while BJP stands with the people of Assam.

Launching scathing attacks on Congress, Shri Nitin Nabin asserted that Congress pushed Assam into an era of migration through infiltrators and turned the entire state into a “chicken neck,” opening routes for Bangladeshi infiltration. The people of Assam deserve credit for forming a BJP government, which is now working to show these infiltrators the way out. Some people claim BJP makes tough decisions, but if such decisions are required for the protection of the nation, its security, and the safety of mothers and sisters, the party will not hesitate, as it is accountable to its people. If BJP is called strict, it is because it aims to ensure women’s safety, provide employment to youth, support farmers, and create new investment opportunities in the state. Times have changed. Earlier, leaders like Rahul Gandhi did not hesitate to wear symbolic attire like a skullcap, but today the people of Assam are ready to hold accountable those who disrespect their identity. It was also mentioned that during a recent Republic Day program, when Rahul Gandhi was presented with the traditional Assamese gamosa, he removed it and set it aside. The people of Assam should recognize those who do not respect Assam’s symbols, culture, and heritage.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that under no circumstances can those who play with the symbols and dignity of Assam be forgiven. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji often emphasizes that just as “A for Apple” is taught, “A for Assam” should also be recognized, and the story of development should begin from Assam. The idea of “A” is linked with Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and along with this, the goal has been set to make Assam self-reliant. In this direction, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma are continuously bringing investment, and are working to make mothers and sisters self-reliant by enabling them to stand on their own feet and providing opportunities for self-employment. This transformation was described as significant, and it was stated that through such change, the vision of a “Viksit Assam” can be realized. Around 10 years ago, during Congress governments, incidents of violence were frequent and the common person lived under stress. Reference was made to visits to Assam since 2009–10, when Dilip Saikia was the Youth Morcha president, and the speaker was in charge of Assam. A “Shaheed Shraddhanjali Yatra” was taken out from Guwahati to Tawang–Bomdila to pay tribute to the martyrs of 1962. At that time, the then Prime Minister treated Assam merely as a piece of land and left it with the remark that “our sentiments are with the people of Assam.”

Shri Nabin stated that today Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji states that 140 crore citizens are his strength, his energy, and his family, whereas the Prime Minister of that time had described a population of 35 crore as a challenge. This, it was said, reflects the difference between the leadership of Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi Ji and that of the Congress. When the Congress leadership is described as compromised, it is based on specific reasoning. Reference was made to how the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh were left during the time of the China war. During that period, the Congress government believed that building roads along the borders would allow enemy forces to enter, whereas today, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the approach is to build roads, helipads, and airports up to the borders. Today soldiers are encouraged to take firm decisions with the assurance that the Government of India stands firmly behind them. The policy now is not to concede even an inch of land. Reference was also made to past instances, including claims about land being ceded during the time of Jawaharlal Nehru and incidents during the tenure of Manmohan Singh where strong responses were lacking. Today, if any extremist attempts to harm the dignity of citizens, the government responds firmly, and actions like “Operation Sindoor” are presented as examples of a strong response. When policy, intent, and leadership are aligned, the ability to take decisive action becomes evident.

Hon’ble BJP National President said that where there is no leadership, no clear intent, and no defined policies, leadership like that of Rahul Gandhi is seen, which, according to him, compromises national policies and security. There are some people in Assam who focus on securing foreign citizenship for their children but do not show concern for the people of Assam, even while talking about opening schools in the state. When such leaders had the opportunity, they did not prioritize education for the people of Assam, instead ensuring education for their own children abroad, and that the public will respond to this. The BJP government in Assam has delivered the benefits of various schemes to the people. Under the Orunodoi scheme, 40 lakh beneficiaries are receiving ₹1,250 per month as financial assistance. The decision to establish a major semiconductor hub in Assam has been taken by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, which was described as a significant decision. Only a few states have received such an opportunity, and Assam being among them reflects the Prime Minister’s focus on the state. Such developments create large-scale employment opportunities, reducing the need for youth to migrate and enabling them to find opportunities within Assam. Referring to infrastructure, it was said that earlier there was a distinction between North and South Guwahati across the Brahmaputra, but after the construction of the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, the region is seen as more integrated. This was cited as an example of reducing distances and connecting people, reflecting the approach of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the BJP government.

Shri Nabin stated that while at one time Assam had only 6 medical colleges, today more than 14 medical colleges have been established, and work on 10 new colleges is in progress. This reflects that along with improved healthcare facilities, large-scale employment opportunities are also being created for the people of Assam. There was a time when, during the tenure of Shri Dilip Saikia as Assam BJP state president, people from Assam had to be sent to Bihar for treatment. Even in cases of minor fractures, people often had to travel to Patna. However, in the last 10 years, he has not received a single such call from Shri Dilip Saikia regarding medical assistance, as adequate healthcare facilities are now available within Assam itself, and people are receiving treatment locally. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has also given Assam the first gift of the Vande Bharat sleeper train. Today, the consistent benefits of various schemes reaching the people of Assam clearly reflect the efforts of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Chief Minister maintains a close connection with every individual, and BJP MLAs also share a direct bond with the people. BJP does not merely build personal connections with people but fosters relationships like a family, standing with them in times of both happiness and hardship. Recalling the COVID-19 period, it was mentioned that while leaders and workers of other parties distanced themselves, BJP Karyakartas stepped forward with a spirit of service to help every needy person. During that crisis, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji stood firmly with the entire nation. When the issue of vaccines arose, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji clearly stated that citizens would not have to pay for vaccines and that free vaccination would be provided to all, ensuring that no poor person would have to take a loan for it. Such a decision was only possible under the leadership of a leader like Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

Hon’ble BJP National President asserted that times are changing and Assam is steadily moving towards becoming a developed state. Through the concept of a double-engine government, development is being taken to new heights across all states of India, and Assam is also benefiting significantly from this approach. Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma is continuously working to introduce new schemes, while state ministers are ensuring their effective implementation on the ground. Through the semiconductor industry, along with “Make in India,” the spirit of “Made in Assam” is also being promoted, and consistent efforts are being made in this direction. Recently, work has begun on developing a modern township in Jagiroad at a cost of ₹5,923 crore. Once the semiconductor project is completed, Assam will gain a new smart city, creating fresh investment opportunities. The large turnout of people at the event reflects their strong support for the government. BJP government in Assam has worked closely with the people and stood with them in both good and difficult times, which is why the public is also standing firmly with the government today. It is important to ensure that the past does not return, and people should not forget those who held the state back in the race for development. This is the same Assam that was once known for insurgency, border insecurity, and fear among investors, where the dreams of youth often remained unfulfilled. Today, however, people have come together with a shared resolve to build a developed, strong, and secure Assam.

Shri Nabin, recalling the bravery of Lachit Borphukan, the divine Shakti of Kamakhya Temple, and the energy of the Brahmaputra, called upon the people to move forward with a strong resolve for Assam’s development. We must move ahead with the spirit that Assam will never bow, never stop, and will always continue to progress. Elections are scheduled to be held on April 9, and this day will give a new momentum to Assam’s development. BJP National President urged all mothers, sisters, and citizens of Assam that the party will work with a spirit of service in return for the support they have shown. Every BJP candidate will serve the people as a dedicated servant of the public. Shri Nabin appealed to the people to ensure a decisive victory for the BJP on April 9 and to fulfill the resolve of a “Viksit Assam” under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma.

A BJP-NDA government in Keralam will ensure rapid development. This is Modi’s guarantee: PM

| Published on:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a massive public gathering in Palakkad, highlighting the growing momentum for change in Keralam and expressing confidence in the rising support for the BJP-led NDA in the state. “I can clearly see a different atmosphere in the state this time. Keralam is sending a message of change,” he said.

Opening his address, the Prime Minister remarked, “The growing popularity of the NDA, the increasing trust in the BJP, and the overwhelming enthusiasm and presence of people here in Palakkad show that the mood of Keralam has now transformed into a movement.” He further emphasized, “Today, the youth, the women and the farmers of Keralam place their faith in the BJP and NDA.”

The PM credited this shift to the people of Keralam and the dedication of party karyakartas. “This transformation is the result of the blessings of the people of Kerala and the tireless efforts of lakhs of BJP karyakartas. Many of our karyakartas have sacrificed their lives due to political violence. I pay my heartfelt tribute to all of them,” he said.

Launching a sharp attack on both the LDF and UDF, PM Modi stated, “For decades, Keralam has been trapped between two faces of selfish politics -LDF and UDF. One is corrupt, the other is more corrupt. One is communal, the other is more communal. Their policies revolve only around vote bank politics, with no concern for Keralam’s development.”

Highlighting what he termed a ‘tacit understanding’ between the two alliances, the PM added, “For years, LDF and UDF have taken turns to rule and loot. Now both are targeting the BJP, which shows they fear us. They know that once BJP comes to power, their corruption will be exposed.” He asserted that a future NDA government would investigate all scams and deliver justice to the people of Keralam.

PM Modi also pointed to the developmental support extended by the Centre, stating that Keralam has received significantly higher funds in the last decade compared to previous regimes. However, he criticized the state government for poor utilization of these funds.

On development and employment, PM Modi highlighted the state’s immense potential but lamented the lack of industrial growth and job opportunities, which has led to migration. He contrasted this with initiatives taken by the Centre in Palakkad, including the establishment of an IIT, infrastructure upgrades and plans for a smart industrial city.

Focusing on women-led development, PM Modi said, “Empowering women has been a priority for the BJP. From financial inclusion to healthcare and housing, women are at the center of our schemes. We have also ensured greater political participation through the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.”

PM Modi exposed Congress misconduct and raised concerns about women’s safety. He said, “In Palakkad, Congress leaders have increasingly posed a safety concern for women. Just yesterday, the party expelled another leader over allegations of exploiting a woman. This reveals an uncomfortable truth about these parties, one that the women of Keralam should be well aware of.”

He also addressed farmers’ concerns, particularly delays in paddy procurement and payments, and highlighted the benefits provided under central schemes like PM-KISAN.

Touching upon global developments, the Prime Minister reassured citizens about the government’s efforts to safeguard Indians abroad amid ongoing conflicts in West Asia. He stressed that the safety and interests of Indian citizens remain the top priority of the NDA government.

“Since the outbreak of the conflict, I have been in constant touch with world leaders. The safety of Indians in affected regions is our top priority, with our embassies working round the clock to ensure their well-being. For the BJP-NDA government, the security of every Indian is paramount. However, the kind of statements being made by the Congress on this sensitive issue are dangerous, as they risk the safety of nearly one crore Indians in Gulf countries for political gain,” he said.

Concluding his address, PM Modi reiterated the vision for a “Viksit Keralam.” “Our resolve is clear- development, dignity and opportunity for every citizen. NDA guarantees an end to forced migration, respect for every youth’s talent, and development free from corruption and political interference. The kind of transformation seen in the rest of India will now be visible in Keralam as well,” he said.

PM’s address in the 132nd Episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’

| Published on:

My dear countrymen, Namaskar.

Welcome once again to ‘Mann Ki Baat’. This month of March has been full of turbulence globally. All of us remember that the entire world faced myriad problems for a long time on account of COVID. Indeed, all of us had expected that after emerging from the Corona crisis, the world would move forward on the path of renewed progress. However, situations of war and conflict have continuously kept arising in different parts of the world. Presently, a fierce war has been going on in our neighbourhood for a month. Millions of our family members, near and dear ones, live in these countries, especially working in the Gulf countries. I am deeply grateful to the Gulf countries, who are providing all kinds of assistance to more than 1 crore such Indians there.

Friends,

The region where the war is currently going on is a major centre of our energy needs. On account of that, a crisis is emerging around the world regarding petrol and diesel.

Our global relations; the support we receive from various countries, and the strengths the country has built over the past decade have enabled India to bravely confront these circumstances.

Friends,

These certainly are challenging times. Today, through “Mann Ki Baat,” I would once again urge all my countrymen that we must unitedly overcome this challenge. Those who are politicizing even this issue should refrain from doing so. This is a matter concerning the interests of 140 crore countrymen; there is no place for self-serving politics. Therefore, those who are spreading rumours are causing a major harm to the country. I would also appeal to all citizens to remain vigilant and not be misled by rumours. Trust only the continuous information provided by the government and take action based only on that. As always, I am confident that just as we have overcome past crises with the strength of our 140 crore countrymen; this time too, we will together emerge victorious from this difficult situation.

My dear countrymen,

India’s strength lies in its crores of people. Today, in ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ I want to tell you about an initiative that reflects the spirit of public participation among our countrymen. This initiative is the Gyan Bharatam Survey, which is related to our great culture and rich heritage.

Its objective is to collect information about manuscripts across the country. One way to participate in this survey is through the Gyan Bharatam App. If you have a manuscript or information about it, do share its image on the Gyan Bharatam App. Information related to each entry is being verified before it is recorded. I am glad that thousands of manuscripts have been shared so far. For example, Chao Nantisindh Lokang ji of Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, has shared manuscripts in the Tai script. Bhai Amit Singh Rana of Amritsar has shared manuscripts in the Gurmukhi script. This is a script associated with our great Sikh tradition and the Punjabi language. Some organizations have provided manuscripts written on palm leaves. The Abhay Jain Library in Rajasthan has shared very old manuscripts inscribed on copper plates. The Hemis Monastery in Ladakh has provided information about valuable Tibetan manuscripts.

I have cited just a few examples here. This survey will continue until mid-June. I urge all of you to uncover and share aspects of your culture.

My dear countrymen,

India is the youngest country in the world. When the strength of the country’s youth is involved in nation-building, it is of immense help. The organization MY Bharat, is playing a major role in fulfilling this responsibility of nation-building. This organization is connecting the country’s youth with various positive activities. Recently, MY Bharat organized a budget quest. Its aim was to connect the youth across the country with the budget process and policymaking. Nearly 12 lakh youth from across the country participated in the quiz. After the quiz, approximately 160,000 participants were selected for the essay competition. I had the opportunity as well to read some of these essays. They demonstrate the eagerness of my young friends to contribute to the country’s development. Kotla Raghuveer Reddy from Suryapet, Telangana, Saurabh Baiswar from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh and Sumit Kumar from Gopalganj, Bihar, have written on the topic related to farmer welfare.

Aanchal from Mohali, Punjab, and Om Prakash Rath from Kendrapara, Odisha, expressed their views on ways to advance women-led development. Pratham Barar from Yamunanagar, Haryana, has written that a green and clean India is the only path to a prosperous India. This reveals their deep thinking. Shankh Gupta from Delhi suggests that more efforts should be made to identify sports talent in rural areas. Our young friends have also shared their ideas on skill development and ease of doing business. I commend all the young people who are sharing their ideas. These ideas are crucial in taking the country forward.

My dear countrymen,

This month has been full of excitement and enthusiasm for cricket fans across the country. When India achieved a historic victory in the T20 World Cup, a wave of joy swept across the country. We are all very proud of our team’s thumping success. Late last month, a thrilling match was witnessed in Hubli, Karnataka. By winning this match, the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team secured for themselves the Ranji Trophy. It is most heartening to note that after a long wait of nearly seven decades, the team achieved its first Ranji Trophy title.

This unprecedented success is the result of years of continuous efforts by the players. Team captain Paras Dogra displayed extraordinary skills. Through his leadership he played a significant role in this victory. The performance of young Kashmiri bowler Aaqib Nabi, who took 60 wickets in the Ranji Trophy, is being talked about nationwide. This victory has thrilled the players and coaching staff, as well as the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This impressive performance on the cricket field has further increased the enthusiasm for sports among the youth there. In the future, it will inspire many young people to take up sports. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have a tremendous passion for sports. I am glad that it is now becoming a hub for major sporting events. Gulmarg has already established itself as the host of the Khelo India Winter Games. Sports like football are also very popular among the youth there. I hope this winning streak of Jammu and Kashmir sports persons continues in the future.

My dear countrymen,

I often say, ‘The one who plays will blossom.’ I am happy to see that our country’s youth are now embracing sports that were not as popular before.

Gulveer Singh, a talented athlete from Uttar Pradesh, has done wonders in one such sport. Just a few weeks ago, he created history by finishing third in the New York City Half Marathon. He became the first Indian athlete to complete a half marathon in under an hour. Squash player daughter Anahat Singh, won a major international title in the Squash on Fire Open. She achieved this success at just 17 years of age. With this, she has become the youngest Asian female player to make it to the top-20 in the PSA World Ranking. I also came to know about the Asmita Athletics League. In this, many sporting events were organized on the occasion of Women’s Day on the 8th of March. Around 2 lakh daughters participated in the league. It is good to see that the woman power of India is playing an important role in this sporting transformation taking place in the country.

Friends,

I have always urged all of you to certainly pay attention to your fitness. Now less than 100 days are left for the International Yoga Day; the attraction towards yoga is also rising continuously all over the world. Almis ji is promoting yoga through his Arvind Yoga Centre in Djibouti, Africa. He also teaches yoga to people in many other places there.

Many of you have commented on Instagram Content Creator Yuvraj Dua’s post pertaining to my reply. He had requested me to ask his father to reduce his sugar intake. I am happy that my request has had a positive impact on his father. I would urge all of you to reduce your sugar intake also… and as I have said earlier, we also need to cut down on cooking oil by 10 percent. These small efforts will keep you away from obesity and lifestyle diseases.

My dear countrymen,

There is an old saying ‘Karat Karat Abhyas Ke, Jadmat Hot Sujan’ which means that the more we practice continuously, the more intellect we keep acquiring. People also learn best when there is active participation on their part. I have come to know about a unique initiative related to education in Bengaluru. A team here is running Prayog Institute of Education Research. This team has a special focus on research projects. This team is engaged in popularizing science education at the school level. They have launched an experiment called Anveshan, which provides students from 9th to 12th standard the opportunity to innovate in areas like Chemistry, Earth Science, and Wellness.

This provides students with a very good research experience and a platform to publish their projects.

Friends, during our ‘Pareeksha Pe Charcha’, some students told me that they wanted to study science but were also intimidated by it. The efforts of the Prayog team in this direction are commendable. This initiative gives students the opportunity to engage with science and demonstrate practical experience. When we try something firsthand, curiosity and interest are generated. Who knows, perhaps one of these young friends of mine might be a great scientist of the future.

Friends,

The Naga community is also making an effort to preserve the past and prepare for the future through education. The people of this community deeply respect their tribal traditions. They are proud of this and simultaneously also maintain a modern approach. The Naga tribes had a traditional system of Morung learning, in which elders would share traditional knowledge, history, and life skills with the youth through their experiences. Over time, this system has evolved into the Morung concept of education. Through this system, interest in children in subjects like mathematics and science is instilled.

In this, elders in the community teach them life skills through stories, folk songs and traditional games. In this way, our Nagaland is advancing children’s education while preserving its cultural heritage. If you learn about such efforts in your area, please share them with me.

My dear countrymen,

Summer has begun in many parts of the country, which means it’s time to renew our commitment to water conservation. Over the last 11 years, the ‘Jal Sanchay Abhiyan’ has created a lot of awareness among the people. Under this campaign, nearly 50 lakh Artificial Water Harvesting Structures have been created across the country. I am happy to see that community-level efforts are now underway in every village to address the water crisis. At some places, old ponds are being cleaned; at others, efforts are being made to conserve rainwater. Under the Amrit Sarovar Abhiyan as well, nearly 70,000 Amrit Sarovars have been made across the country. The cleaning of these lakes has also begun before the advent of the rainy season. Today, I would also like to share some inspiring examples with you. These examples demonstrate how widespread water conservation can be with public participation.

Friends,

Wangmun village, located in the Jampui Hills of Tripura, is situated at an altitude of 3,000 feet. This village had been facing a severe water crisis. During the summer, villagers would tread long distances for the sake of water. Finally, the villagers decided to conserve every drop of rain.

Today, almost every household in Wangmun village has a rooftop rainwater harvesting system installed. The village, that was once struggling with water scarcity, has become an inspiring example of water conservation.

Friends,

A unique initiative was also observed in Korea district of Chhattisgarh. Farmers there worked on a simple yet effective idea. They made small recharge ponds and soak pits in their fields, allowing rainwater to remain in the fields and gradually seep into the ground. Today, more than 1,200 farmers in this area have adopted this model, and the groundwater level of the village has improved significantly.

Similarly, in Mudhigunta village in Telangana’s Mancherial district, people have come together to address the water problem. 400 families made soak pits at their homes and created a mass movement for water conservation. This has improved the village’s groundwater level and significantly reduced diseases caused by polluted water.

My dear countrymen,

Our fishermen brothers and sisters are not just warriors of the sea; they are also a strong foundation of a self-reliant India. Battling the waves of the sea even before dawn, they set out to strengthen their families and the country’s economy. The lives of these hardworking fishermen are being made easier in many ways today. Whether it’s port development or insurance for fishermen, many such initiatives are proving extremely helpful. We know that weather patterns greatly impact their activities at sea. Keeping this in mind, they are being fully supported through technology.

I am extremely happy that such efforts are not only enriching our fisheries sector; it is also instilling the spirit to innovate. Today, ever new innovations are taking place in the fields of fisheries and seaweed, and our fishermen are becoming self-reliant.

Sujata Bhuyan of Sambalpur, Odisha, was a homemaker, but she wanted to do something new and further help her family. So, a few years ago, she started fish farming in the Hirakud reservoir. The early days were not easy for her. Numerous challenges such as weather changes, arranging food for the fish and balancing household responsibilities were there, but her spirit remained unwavering. Within just two or three years, she transformed her endeavour into a thriving business. Today, her success has become a new ray of hope for the women of the community.

Friends,

The story of Havva Gulzar ji of Minicoy in Lakshadweep brings to the fore the incredible determination of our mothers and sisters. Actually, she used to run a fish processing unit. But she felt she could do even better with a good cold storage facility. Therefore, she decided to set up a cold storage unit. Today, this has become her strength. Now, she is able to do business with better planning.

Friends,

Such efforts are being undertaken everywhere in the country, which are inspiring. Shivling Satappa Huddar of Belagavi chose a path different from traditional farming. For this, he created a pond farm.

He also received training for this business. Now, he is earning a good income by selling fish from his pond. Whereas, looking at the demand for seaweed, many people have also adopted seaweed cultivation. They are also getting huge benefits from it. I once again commend all those associated with the fisheries sector. Their efforts to strengthen our economy are highly commendable.

My dear countrymen,

When society itself steps forward, even small efforts become the foundation of big change. Many such examples are emerging in different parts of our country which teach us that. Recently, an inspiring effort was witnessed in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Over 251,000 saplings were planted there in a single hour, setting a new Guinness World Record.

The most remarkable aspect of this effort was the involvement of thousands of people. Students, youth, volunteer organizations, and various institutions all joined together to make this possible. This same form of public participation is also visible in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. Under this campaign, millions of trees have been planted across the country.

Friends,

A very inspiring effort has come to fore from Chizami village in Nagaland. The women of Chizami village are collectively preserving over 150 varieties of traditional seeds. These seeds are being preserved in a community seed bank, run by the village women themselves. These include rice, millet, maize, pulses, vegetables, and a variety of herbs. This is an effort that preserves knowledge, keeps traditions alive, and lays a strong foundation for future generations.

Friends,

Today, when the world is facing challenges like climate change, such efforts show us that solutions are not always far away. Sometimes, our own traditional knowledge and community efforts offer us the strongest path forward.

My dear countrymen,

If you visit any city, big or small, today, you will surely notice a change. You will see solar panels installed on the rooftops of a large number of homes. Until a few years ago, this was only seen on a few homes. But today, the impact of the “PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana” is being observed in every corner of the country. This scheme has brought about a profound change in the life of Payal Munjpara of Surendranagar district, Gujarat.

She received training in solar power technology through the Surya Initiative and completed a four-month Solar PV technician course. She has now become a skilled solar technician. Payal is making a name for herself as a solar entrepreneur. She works on solar rooftop installations in nearby districts, earning thousands of rupees every month.

Friends,

Arun Kumar from Meerut has now become an energy provider in his area. Recently, Arun Kumar participated in a program in Delhi and shared his experiences. He had shared that he is not only saving on his electricity bills but also selling his excess electricity.

Friends,

Muralidhar ji from Jaipur has achieved similar success. Earlier, his farming was dependent on a diesel pump, which cost thousands of rupees every year. When he adopted a solar pump, his farming system transformed. Now, he no longer has to worry about fuel; irrigation is timely, and his annual income has also increased. Most importantly, his family is now living a better life with clean energy.

Friends,

The benefits of the ‘PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana’ are also being obtained in areas of the Northeast. In Tripura, there are many villages of the Riang tribe which faced electricity problems. Now, through solar mini-grids, their homes remain illuminated. Children there are now able to study even after dusk. People are able to charge their mobile phones, and the social life of villages has also changed.

Friends,

There are countless such examples of the solar energy revolution in the country. Do join this revolution and connect others too.

My dear countrymen,

Every month I receive numerous messages from different parts of the country for ‘Mann Ki Baat’. These messages also reveal how enthusiastically people in remote areas listen to this program. When I read your suggestions, I feel that this is not just a programme; it has become a shared dialogue between all of us. Your thoughts… Your experiences inspire us to continuously improve this programme.

Do keep sharing inspiring stories from your surroundings. Maybe a small effort of yours will bring a big change in someone else’s life; giving someone new courage to move forward – this very is the true power of radio.

It connects people in different corners of the country with one thought, one feeling, and one purpose. We’ll meet again next month, with some new inspiring personalities; with some such initiatives that will infuse us with new energy to move forward. +Until then, take care of yourselves and your families – stay healthy, stay happy. Thank you very much.

Our goal is to build a strong, developed, and secure Assam: Nitin Nabin

| Published on:

In a massive show of strength today, Sunday, Hon’ble BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin addressed sea of supporters at mega rallies in Margherita and Jonai in Assam. With the crowd’s energy at a fever pitch, he issued a stirring call to the people of Assam to secure a crushing, landslide victory for the BJP’s transformative “Double-Engine” government for a historic third consecutive term. Shri Nabin stated that on this sacred land of Kamakhya Temple, he is confident that this time too, BJP will form the government in Assam and a hat-trick victory is certain by the blessing of the people of Assam. This is the same land where the rich traditions of the Mising community are alive, where the sounds of folk culture and music resonate. This region is enriched with historical and cultural heritage, where faith, tradition, and legacy come together in a remarkable way. Bowing to this sacred land, he said he has come here to raise the voice of the people of Assam and strengthen their trust.

Shri Nabin mentioned that the people of Assam had also witnessed the condition of governance ten years ago, when the state’s identity across the country was associated with violence, unrest, and movements. Today, the situation has completely changed, and Assam is now known for its development, rich heritage, and cultural identity. The state is moving rapidly on the path of development, and this progress, carried out with a sense of self-respect, is being discussed across the country. Assam has strongly preserved its cultural heritage, which is a matter of pride for the entire nation, and the Northeast has emerged as a powerful symbol of India’s culture, courage, and self-respect. He feels proud to visit this sacred land and has been visiting Assam continuously since 2009–10, drawing new energy every time. During his recent visit to Assam as party president, the massive public gatherings in various programmes made it clear that even before the announcement of elections, the people had already decided to bring the BJP government back to power. This growing trust of the people is not without reason but is due to the BJP government delivering schemes that have brought light, prosperity, and food security to every household, along with providing facilities like Ayushman Bharat, thereby strengthening confidence in people’s lives.

Shri Nitin Nabin noted that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has witnessed wide-ranging transformation. There was a time when the youth of Assam had to migrate for education and employment, but today opportunities within the state have expanded rapidly. In the span of 60–65 years, only about 10 medical colleges had been established, whereas now more than a dozen medical colleges have been built and nearly 10 more are under construction, reflecting the fast-paced development of Assam. The growing trust among the people is due to the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, under whom India’s global stature has risen, a new story of development is being written, and the respect for the national flag has increased across the world. Today, 140 crore citizens of the country stand firmly with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

BJP National President asserted that when there was an attack by a neighbouring country, the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru merely fulfilled his responsibility by saying that his heart was with the people of Assam, but he did not truly stand with them. Today the situation has completely changed, and the country now has a leadership that stands firmly with the people in every crisis. During the difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, while showing concern for the poor, provided free vaccines to the citizens and led the country out of that crisis. Today, India’s policy is clear and firm, where every challenge is responded to with strength. Earlier governments would remain silent while sitting in Delhi, even when soldiers were beheaded, and no action was taken. In contrast, the present government responds strongly to every challenge and gives the highest priority to national security. Through Operation Sindoor, the government led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has worked to protect the dignity of the nation’s mothers and sisters, and those who disrespected them have been dealt with firmly by this government.

Shri Nitin Nabin mentioned that some people describe the politics of the Bharatiya Janata Party as appeasement, but this is completely incorrect. BJP government is accountable to 140 crore citizens of the country and works with that very spirit. The first right over the nation’s food belongs to its people, the benefits of government schemes should first reach the citizens of the country, and employment opportunities should primarily belong to the youth of India. Ensuring the safety of the nation’s mothers and sisters is the primary responsibility of the government, and there will be no compromise with infiltrators on this issue, no matter what the cost. If ensuring the rights of citizens is termed as appeasement, then such an allegation is acceptable, but under no circumstances will the rights of the people of India be compromised. The BJP takes tough decisions, but these decisions are necessary for national security, the safety of women, and the eradication of corruption. This is why BJP governments work with full commitment for the people and continue to receive their blessings, which is reflected in the party being in power in many states across the country. The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has received the blessings of the people for a third consecutive term and has resolved to make the mothers and sisters of the country “Lakhpati Didis,” under which efforts are being made to make 3 crore women self-reliant across India. In the same direction, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, several schemes are being implemented to empower women, help them move forward on the path of development, and make them self-reliant, including the provision of financial assistance in installments.

Shri Nabin told that over the past 12 years, the country has moved forward rapidly on the path of development, and through schemes like Ayushman Bharat, crores of people have benefited from improved healthcare facilities. Earlier, people had to face serious difficulties in accessing medical services. People from the Northeast had to travel to places like Bihar, Patna, and Delhi for treatment. However, today, through the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the establishment of large hospitals and medical colleges, people in Assam no longer need to go outside the state for treatment. This transformation has been made possible due to BJP government and the double-engine government formed with the blessings of the people. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, continuous efforts are being made to honor Assam’s cultural heritage. Large-scale events are being organized in the state, and several of these programmes have even found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

BJP National President stated that a major programme recently held in Assam has found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, which is a matter of pride for the entire state and reflects the efforts being made to preserve its rich cultural heritage. Charaideo Maidams, often referred to as the “pyramids of Assam,” being included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites is a moment of pride for every resident of Assam. Under the Orunodoi scheme, financial assistance of ₹1,250 is being provided to around 40 lakh beneficiaries, which reflects that development schemes are reaching every individual and efforts are being made to make them self-reliant. The establishment of a semiconductor industry in Assam, the introduction of Vande Bharat Express, improved connectivity from Guwahati to Jalpaiguri, and facilities like the Vande Bharat sleeper train between Kolkata and Guwahati demonstrate that the BJP government is consistently working to put the state on a fast track of development.

Shri Nitin Nabin mentioned that on January 30, 2026, the Union Home Minister announced a special recruitment drive in the Central Armed Police Forces for Mising youth, which is expected to greatly benefit local youngsters. The Assam government has declared a gazetted holiday on the occasion of the major festival ‘Ali-Aye-Ligang’ of the BC community, as a mark of respect for the community. Work is progressing rapidly on several important projects, including a medical college and hospital in Khemaji, and the approval of a new development block in the Jonai Assembly constituency is also an important step towards development. Today the citizens of Assam are receiving respect, and women are stepping out of their homes to become self-reliant, which reflects the state’s growing development. There was a time when Assam faced unrest and tension under Congress rule, but today, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, an environment of trust, peace, and development has been established. Earlier there was a government with neither clear policy nor clear intent, and whose leadership was confusing, where even a large section of the population was portrayed as a challenge. Expressing his pride and joy on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that today marks a new chapter in the Viksit UP, Viksit Bharat Abhiyan. He noted that India’s largest state has now become one of the states with the highest number of international airports. PM Modi shared that he felt doubly proud , first, for having laid the foundation stone of this airport and now inaugurating it, and second, because the name of this grand airport is linked to Uttar Pradesh. “This is the state that chose me as its representative and made me a Member of Parliament, and its identity is now associated with this magnificent airport,” remarked Shri Modi.

Highlighting the far-reaching impact of the new airport, the Prime Minister said that the Noida airport will benefit a vast region encompassing Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Etawah, Bulandshahr, and Faridabad. He emphasised that the airport will bring numerous new opportunities for the farmers, small and medium enterprises, and the youth of western Uttar Pradesh. “Aircraft will fly from here to the world, and this airport will also become a symbol of a developed Uttar Pradesh taking flight,” said Shri Modi, extending his heartfelt congratulations to the people of the state, especially western UP.

Speaking about the current global situation, the Prime Minister observed that the entire world is deeply concerned today, with a war raging in West Asia for over a month, creating crises of essential commodities including food, petrol, diesel, gas, and fertilizers in many countries. He noted that India imports a very large quantity of crude oil and gas from the conflict-affected region. “The Government is taking every possible step to ensure that the burden of this crisis does not fall on ordinary families and farmers,” affirmed Shri Modi.

Underscoring India’s continued momentum of rapid development even during times of global crisis, the Prime Minister noted that in Western Uttar Pradesh alone, this is the fourth major project to be either inaugurated or have its foundation stone laid in recent weeks. “During this period, the foundation stone of a major semiconductor factory in Noida was laid, the country’s first Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat train gained speed, the Meerut Metro was expanded, and today the Noida International Airport is being inaugurated,” highlighted PM Modi.

The Prime Minister credited the current Government for these remarkable achievements in UP’s development. He noted that the semiconductor factory is making India self-reliant in technology, the Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat Rail are providing fast and smart connectivity, and the Jewar Airport is connecting entire North India to the world. ” Today under the current government, the same Noida is becoming a powerful engine of UP’s development,” asserted Shri Modi.

Elaborating on the history of the airport project, The Prime Minister recalled that the Jewar Airport was approved by Atal ji as early as 2003. And as soon as the current government was formed here, the foundation was laid, construction happened, and now it has started operations,” said Shri Modi.

Drawing attention to the region’s emerging role as a logistics hub, the Prime Minister pointed out that this area is becoming the hub of two major freight corridors , special railway tracks laid for goods trains, which have enhanced North India’s connectivity with the seas of Bengal and Gujarat. He noted that Dadri is the strategic point where both these corridors converge, meaning whatever farmers grow and industries produce here can now reach every corner of the world swiftly, by land and by air. “This kind of multi-modal connectivity is making UP a major attraction for investors worldwide,” explained PM Modi.

Addressing the transformation of the region’s image, the Prime Minister said. “Today, Noida  is ready to welcome the entire world. This whole area is strengthening the resolve of Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the farmers who gave up their lands to make this project a reality, noting that agriculture and farming hold great importance in the region’s economy. Shri Modi noted that the expansion of modern connectivity will further boost food processing prospects in Western UP, adding, “The agricultural produce from here will now reach global markets more efficiently.”

Acknowledging the contribution of sugarcane farmers to reducing India’s dependence on crude oil, the Prime Minister highlighted the significant role of ethanol produced from sugarcane. PM Modi highlighted that without the increase in ethanol production and its blending with petrol, India would have had to import an additional four and a half crore barrels, approximately 700 crore litres of crude oil annually, adding, “The hard work of our farmers has given the country this enormous relief during the time of crisis.”

The Prime Minister further elaborated that ethanol has not only benefited the nation but has also greatly benefited farmers, with approximately Rs 1.5 lakh crore worth of foreign exchange being saved. He recalled the earlier days when sugarcane farmers had to wait for years for their dues. “Today, thanks to the efforts of the current Government, the condition of sugarcane farmers has improved significantly,” affirmed Shri Modi.

Emphasizing that airports are not merely amenities but catalysts for progress, the Prime Minister pointed out the remarkable expansion of India’s aviation infrastructure. Highlighting that today, there are more than 160 airports, PM Modi remarked that the Air connectivity is now reaching not just metropolitan cities but also smaller towns. “ The current government has made air travel accessible for the common Indian,” asserted Shri Modi, adding that the number of airports in Uttar Pradesh has been increased to seventeen.

Highlighting the impact of the UDAN scheme, the Prime Minister said that the government has consistently strived to ensure that while airports are built, airfares remain within the reach of ordinary families. Noting that more than one crore sixty lakh citizens have travelled by air at affordable rates by booking tickets under the UDAN scheme, Shri Modi remarked, “ Recently, the Central Government has further expanded the UDAN scheme with an approval of approximately Rs 29,000 crore, under which 100 new airports and 200 new helipads will be built in smaller cities in the coming years. UP will also benefit immensely from this.”

Speaking about India’s rapidly growing aviation sector, the Prime Minister noted that as new airports are being built, the demand for new aircraft is also rising, with various airlines placing orders for hundreds of new planes. Shri Modi observed that this creates tremendous opportunities for the youth, including pilots, cabin crew, and maintenance professionals, adding that “our government is also expanding training facilities in the aviation sector” to meet this growing demand.

Addressing a critical gap in India’s aviation ecosystem, the Prime Minister drew attention to the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sector, noting that 85 per cent of Indian aircraft still have to go abroad for MRO services. PM Modi noted that the government has resolved to make India self-reliant in the MRO sector as well and highlighted that  today, the foundation stone of an MRO facility has been laid here at Jewar. “When ready, it will serve aircraft from India and abroad , generating revenue for the country, keeping our money within India, and creating numerous jobs for the youth,” announced Shri Modi.

Underlining the government’s priority of ensuring citizen convenience and saving their time and money, the Prime Minister spoke about the expansion of modern rail services such as Metro and Vande Bharat. “The Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Rail has already been used by over two and a half crore passengers. The journey between Delhi and Meerut that used to take hours is now completed in minutes,” said PM Modi.

Underscoring the unprecedented investment in modern infrastructure for a Viksit Bharat, the Prime Minister shared that over the past eleven years, the infrastructure budget has been increased more than six-fold, with Rs 17 lakh crore spent on highways and expressways and over one lakh kilometres of highways constructed. He noted that railway electrification has expanded from 20,000 kilometres before 2014 to over 40,000 kilometres since then, with nearly 100 per cent of the broad-gauge network now electrified. The Prime Minister highlighted that for the first time, the Kashmir Valley and the capitals of the North-East are being connected to the rail network, while port capacity has more than doubled in the past decade and the number of inland waterways continues to grow. “India is working at a rapid pace in every sector necessary for building a Viksit Bharat,” stated Shri Modi.

Calling for collective effort and national unity in the face of global challenges, the Prime Minister said he had spoken at length in Parliament and held detailed discussions with Chief Ministers about tackling the crisis arising from the ongoing conflict. He appealed to the people to face this crisis with a calm mind and patience, calling it the greatest strength of Indians. PM Modi reiterated that what is in the interest of Indians and in the interest of India, that alone is the policy and strategy of the Government of India.” I am  fully confident that all political parties will  lend strength to the country’s united efforts”, concluded  Shri Modi.

Consensus-based decision-making is the bedrock of WTO’s legitimacy: Piyush Goyal

| Published on:

On the second day of WTO MC14, which is currently underway in Yaounde, Cameroon, Trade Ministers of WTO member countries deliberated on WTO reform issues. Hon’ble Commerce and Industries Minister, Shri Piyush Goyal is leading the Indian delegation for MC 14.

Speaking on the issue of ‘Decision making including past mandates’, Shri Goyal emphasised that consensus-based decision-making is the bedrock of the WTO’s legitimacy, and it is important for the WTO not to ignore the sovereign right of each member to not bind itself to rules which they do not agree to. While underlining the importance of rebuilding trust for overcoming challenges in reaching decisions through consensus, India stressed on the importance of the WTO to undertake a careful stock-take of the current impasse and its underlying causes, while ensuring discussions remain transparent, inclusive and Member-driven. India  also highlighted that an integrated multilateral trading system cannot thrive alongside fragmentation within its own institutional framework.

On the ‘Level playing field issues’, Shri. Goyal emphasised that discussions must take into account the asymmetries from the Uruguay Round. India focused on the need for long pending issues like food security, PSH, SSM on Cotton to be prioritised while taking up new issues to address the structural asymmetries. Highlighting the continued dysfunction of the dispute settlement system, India emphasised that without effective adjudication, rules lose their enforceability, thereby disproportionately disadvantaging smaller economies. India also cautioned against weaponising transparency to justify trade retaliation or challenge legitimate domestic policies. Instead, it should be accompanied by meaningful and sustained capacity-building support, ensuring that all Members can meet obligations fairly and effectively. India also stressed on the importance of all Members to have a fair opportunity to build productive capacity, create employment, and participate meaningfully in global trade.

The  day concluded with a Ministerial Plenary Session on WTO Reform Transparency. Speaking during this session, Commerce Secretary, Shri Rajesh Agrawal, extended India’s support for a time-bound restart of reform efforts with milestones, based on a more robust evidentiary analysis and through engagement with submissions and Ministerial Decisions. India unequivocally called for eschewing cherry-picking issues and proliferating preconceived and prejudged positions. India also highlighted the need to give greater importance to the role of WTO Committees, which, through their lived and learned experiences, can contribute to an exhaustive stocktake through a bottom-up approach. While cautioning against plurilaterals fragmenting the multilateral trading system, Shri Agrawal called for the consensus process to be premised on the principles of openness, transparency, inclusivity, participative and member-driven.

On the sidelines of the second day of the MC14 meetings, Shri Goyal held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from US, China, Korea, Switzerland, New Zealand, Canada, Morocco and Oman. Discussions were focused on the MC 14 agenda as well as on matters related to deepening bilateral trade ties.
