As per the latest data revealed by Minister of State for Jal Shakti in reply to a question, Shri V. Somanna on 21st August, tap water supply has been successfully provided to 15.69 crore households across India, covering 81.02 percent of total households. This achievement marks a significant milestone under the Government’s flagship Jal Jeevan Mission, aimed at ensuring safe and adequate drinking water through household tap connections.
The progress highlights the government’s commitment to improving public health, reducing drudgery for women, and ensuring better quality of life in rural as well as urban areas. By reaching over 80 percent of households, the initiative has created a strong foundation for achieving the target of 100 percent coverage in the near future.
