Coverage of Ayushman Bharat scheme was very impressive: Winston Peters

     As part of the KNOW BJP initiative, Bharatiya Janata Party National President and Union Minister Shri JP Nadda, met with the Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand, Rt. Hon. Winston Peters, in New Delhi on 30 May 2025.

During the interaction, Shri Nadda shared key aspects of the BJP’s organizational structure and its broad-based outreach efforts across diverse communities. He proposed the establishment of a delegation exchange between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the New Zealand First party to foster closer inter-party relations.

The discussion also covered flagship health initiatives undertaken by the Modi government, with particular emphasis on programs benefiting women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable sections of society. Mr Winston Peters was very impressed with the extent of the coverage of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Both leaders acknowledged the progressive growth of India–New Zealand bilateral relations over the past decade and explored avenues for deeper cooperation, especially in the field of healthcare.

He found the Indian electoral system elaborate & impressive. Rt. Hon. Winston Peters also serves as New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and holds additional responsibilities as the Minister for Railways and Minister for Racing.
