PM addresses the inaugural ceremony of India Energy Week 2026

| Published on:

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed a gathering during the inauguration ceremony of India Energy Week 2026 via video conferencing today. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Modi remarked that in this new edition of Energy Week, representatives from nearly 125 countries have gathered in Goa. He highlighted that they have come to India to discuss an energy-secure and sustainable future and welcomed all the participants.

Highlighting that India Energy Week has, in a very short span of time, emerged as a global platform for dialogue and action, Prime Minister remarked that today India is a land of immense opportunities for the energy sector. He underlined that India is the world’s fastest growing economy, which means the demand for energy products in the country is continuously rising. He emphasized that India also offers excellent opportunities to meet global demand. Shri Modi noted that India is among the top five exporters of petroleum products in the world, with export coverage extending to more than 150 countries. He stated that this capacity of India will be of great benefit to all. He further stressed that the Energy Week platform is an excellent place to explore partnerships and extended his best wishes to all participants.

Prime Minister stated that before moving ahead with his remarks, he wished to highlight a major development. He noted that just yesterday, a significant agreement was signed between India and the European Union, which people across the world are calling the “mother of all deals.” Shri Modi emphasized that this agreement brings immense opportunities for India’s 140 crore people and millions across European nations. He underlined that it stands as a remarkable example of coordination between two of the world’s largest economies. The Prime Minister highlighted that the agreement represents nearly 25 percent of global GDP and about one-third of global trade. He remarked that beyond trade, the deal strengthens the shared commitment to democracy and the rule of law.

Shri Modi pointed out that the free trade agreement with the EU will complement the agreements with Britain and EFTA, thereby reinforcing both trade and global supply chains. He extended warm congratulations to India’s youth and all citizens for this achievement, and also conveyed his best wishes to those engaged in sectors such as textiles, gems and jewellery, leather, and footwear, noting that the agreement will prove highly beneficial for them. The Prime Minister stressed that this trade deal will not only boost manufacturing in India but also expand the services sector further. He affirmed that the free trade agreement will strengthen global business and investor confidence in India.

Emphasizing that India is actively working on global partnerships across every sector, Shri Modi remarked that in the energy sector alone, there are vast investment opportunities across different areas of the energy value chain. Shri Modi highlighted that India has significantly opened up its exploration sector and referred to the deep-sea exploration initiative known as the Samudra Manthan Mission. He stated that by the end of this decade, India aims to raise investments in the oil and gas sector to 100 billion dollars, with a target of expanding the scope of exploration to one million square kilometers. The Prime Minister noted that more than 170 blocks have already been awarded, and the Andaman and Nicobar basin is emerging as the next hydrocarbon hope.

Underlining that several reforms have been undertaken in the exploration sector, including reducing the No-Go areas, Shri Modi added that suggestions received during previous editions of India Energy Week have been incorporated into changes in Acts and Rules. He affirmed that companies investing in the exploration sector are certain to see increased profitability.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted another distinctive strength of India that makes investment in the energy sector highly beneficial. He remarked that India possesses a very large refining capacity and currently ranks second in the world in this regard. Shri Modi emphasized that soon India will become the number one country globally in refining capacity. He noted that India’s present refining capacity stands at around 260 MMT per annum, and continuous efforts are underway to raise it beyond 300 MMT per annum. The Prime Minister underlined that this represents a major advantage for investors.

Highlighting that LNG demand in India is continuously rising, and the country has set a target to meet 15 percent of its total energy demand through LNG, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to work across the entire LNG value chain and noted that India is undertaking large-scale efforts in transportation. Shri Modi remarked that India is working to build the vessels required for LNG transportation domestically, supported by a recently launched ship-building program worth seventy thousand crore rupees. He underlined that numerous investment opportunities have been created in constructing LNG terminals at Indian ports, as well as in regasification projects.

The Prime Minister stressed that India requires a vast pipeline network for LNG transportation, where significant investments have already been made, but large-scale opportunities still remain. He pointed out that city gas distribution networks have already reached many Indian cities and are rapidly expanding to others, making this sector highly attractive for investment.

Shri Modi observed that with India’s large population and steadily growing economy, the demand for petrochemical products will continue to rise, necessitating extensive energy infrastructure. He affirmed that investment in this area will yield substantial growth and added that there are also abundant opportunities in downstream activities for investors.

“Today’s India is riding on the Reforms Express and undertaking rapid reforms across every sector”, stressed Shri Modi. He emphasized that reforms are being carried out to strengthen domestic hydrocarbons while creating a transparent and investor-friendly environment for global collaborations. The Prime Minister underlined that India is now moving beyond energy security towards the mission of energy independence. He stated that India is developing an energy sector ecosystem capable of meeting local demand and, through affordable refining and transportation solutions, making exports highly competitive for the world.

The Prime Minister underlined that India’s energy sector lies at the center of the nation’s aspirations, offering investment opportunities worth 500 billion dollars. He concluded his remarks by calling upon the global community with the message: Make in India, Innovate in India, Scale with India, Invest in India.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Pramod Sawant were present among other dignitaries at the event.

PM’s address in the 130th Episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’

| Published on:

My dear countrymen, Namaskar.

This is the first ‘Mann Ki Baat’ of the year 2026. Tomorrow, on the 26th of January, we shall all celebrate our Republic Day. Our Constitution came into effect on this very day. This day; the 26th of January, gives us an opportunity to pay homage to the founding fathers of our Constitution. Today, the 25th of January, is also a very significant day. Today is National Voter’s Day… Matadata Diwas. A voter is the soul of democracy.

Friends,

Usually, when someone turns 18, becomes a voter, it is considered a normal milestone in life. However, this occasion is actually a major milestone in any Indian’s life. Therefore, it is very important that we celebrate becoming a voter in our country. Just as we wish and celebrate birthdays… similarly, whenever a young person becomes a voter for the first time, the entire neighbourhood, village, or city should come together to congratulate them and distribute sweets. That would raise awareness about voting and strengthen the feeling of how important it is to be a voter.

Friends,

I would like to express my deep appreciation to all those people in the country who are involved in the electoral process and work at the grassroots level to keep our democracy vibrant. Today, on ‘Voter’s Day’, I would once again urge my young friends to register themselves as voters upon turning 18. This will fulfil the sense of duty that the Constitution expects of every citizen and will also strengthen India’s democracy.

My dear countrymen,

These days I am seeing an interesting trend on social media. People are reliving their memories of the year 2016. In the same spirit, today I too would like to share one of my memories with you. Ten years ago, in January 2016, we embarked upon an ambitious journey. We had realised then, that even if it were a small one, it was very important for the future of the country for the young generation. At that time, some people could not understand what it was all about, after all! Friends, the journey I am referring to is the journey of Start-up India. The heroes of this amazing journey are our young friends. The innovations they came up with by stepping out of their comfort zones are being recorded in history.

Friends,

Today India has turned into the third largest Start-ups ecosystem in the world. These Start-ups are out of the box; they are working in sectors that were unimaginable even 10 years ago.

AI, Space, Nuclear Energy, Semiconductors, Mobility, Green Hydrogen, Biotechnology… you name it and you’ll find one Indian Start-up or the other working in that sector. I salute all my young friends who are associated with one Start-up or the other or want to start one of their own.

Friends,

Today through ‘Mann Ki Baat’, I want to urge my countrymen; especially the youth associated with industry and Start-ups. India’s economy is progressing rapidly. The world is watching India. At such a juncture, we all shoulder a huge responsibility. That responsibility is to emphasize on quality. The era of ‘it just happens… it works… it will go through somehow’ is over. Come, let us prioritize quality with all our might this year. Let our only mantra be quality, quality and only quality. Better quality today than what it was yesterday. Let us resolve to improve the quality of whatever we manufacture. Be it our textiles, technology or electronics… even packaging; the connotation of an Indian product should become – ‘top quality’. Come, let us make excellence our benchmark. Let us resolve that there will be no laxity on quality, nor will there be any compromise on quality. And I had expressed from Red Fort – ‘Zero Defect Zero Effect’. Only by doing this shall we be able to accelerate the journey towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

My dear countrymen,

The people of our country are very innovative. Seeking solutions to problems is part of our countrymen’s nature. Some do this through start-ups; while others try to find a solution through the collective strength of society. One such effort has emerged in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. The People there have lent life anew to the Tamsa River that flows through this place. The Tamsa is not just a river; it’s a Live continuum of our cultural and spiritual heritage. This river, which crosses Ayodhya and merges with the Ganga, was once the axis of life for the people of this region. However, on account of pollution, its uninterrupted flow was obstructed. Silt, garbage and filth had blocked the flow of this river. After that, the people here started a campaign to give it a new lease of life. The river was cleaned, and shady, fruit-bearing trees were planted along its banks. Local people engaged themselves at the task with a sense of duty… and through everyone’s efforts, the river was revived.

Friends,

A similar endeavour of public participation has also been witnessed in Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh. This is a region that has been grappling with a severe drought. The soil here is red and sandy, which is why people face water shortages. Many areas here do not receive rain over long periods. People sometimes even compare Anantapur to a desert drought.

Friends,

To address this problem, locals resolved to clean the reservoirs. After that, with the support of the administration, the ‘Ananta Neeru Sanrakshanam Project’ was launched. Under this effort, more than 10 reservoirs have been revived. These reservoirs are filling with water now. Simultaneously, more than 7,000 trees have been planted. This means that along with water conservation, the green cover in Anantapur has also increased. Children now, can also enjoy swimming here. In a way, the entire ecosystem here has been revitalized.

Friends,

Whether it’s Azamgarh, Ananthapur, or anywhere else in the country, it’s heartening to see people uniting and fulfilling big resolves with a sense of duty. This spirit of public participation and collectivity is our country’s greatest strength.

My dear countrymen,

In our country, bhajans and kirtans have been the soul of our culture for centuries. We have listened to bhajans in temples, during kathas and every era has embodied Bhakti according to respective times. Today’s generation is also achieving something spectacular. Today’s youth have incorporated the spirit of devotion into their experiences and lifestyles. This thinking has given rise to a new cultural trend. You must have seen such videos on social media.

Large numbers of the youth are gathering in different cities across the country. The stage is decorated… there is lighting, music… there is all the pomp and show, and the atmosphere is no less than a concert. It feels like a huge concert, but what is being sung there is the resonance of bhajans sung with complete concentration, dedication, and rhythm. This trend is being called ‘bhajan clubbing’ today, and it’s becoming increasingly popular, especially among Gen Z.

It is heartening to see that the dignity and purity of bhajans are maintained at these events. Devotion is not taken lightly; neither the decorum of words nor the emotion is compromised. The stage may be modern, the musical presentation may be different, but the core spirit remains the same; a constant flow of spirituality is felt there.

My dear countrymen,

Today our culture and festivals are making their mark across the world. Indian festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy in every corner of the world. Our Bharatvanshis, brothers & sisters of Indian origin, play a vital role in maintaining cultural vibrancy of all kinds. Wherever they are, they are preserving and promoting the essence of their culture. Our Indian community in Malaysia is also doing commendable work in this regard.

You will be pleasantly surprised to know that there are more than 500 Tamil schools in Malaysia. In addition to teaching the Tamil language, other subjects are also taught in Tamil. Furthermore, along with Telugu and Punjabi there’s also a lot of focus on other Indian languages.

Friends,

One society plays a major role in strengthening the historical and cultural ties between India and Malaysia. Its name is ‘Malaysia India Heritage Society’. In addition to various programs, this organization also organizes a heritage walk. This program covers the cultural sites that connect the two countries. Last month, the “Lal Paad Saree” iconic walk was organized in Malaysia. This sari has had a special connection to our culture of Bengal. This event set a record for the largest number of people wearing this sari, which was recorded in the Malaysian Book of Records. On this occasion, Odissi dance and Baul music won the hearts of the people. I can say:

Saya Berbanga /Dengan Diaspora India /The Malaysia //

Mereka Mambawa /India dan Malaysia /Semakin Rapa //

“I am proud of the Indian diaspora in Malaysia; they are bringing India and Malaysia even close.”

My best wishes to our Indian diaspora in Malaysia.

My dear countrymen,

Wherever we go in India, we are bound to witness something extraordinary and unprecedented. Often, these events are obscured by the media’s glare. But they reveal the true strength of our society. They also provide a glimpse into our value systems, wherein the spirit of solidarity is paramount. The tradition of Chandanki village in Beharaji, Gujarat is unique. You would be surprised if I told you that the people here; especially the elderly, do not cook in their homes. The reason for this is the village’s magnificent community kitchen. Food for the entire village is cooked in this community kitchen, and people sit together to eat. This tradition has been continuing for the past 15 years. Not just that, if someone is ill, a tiffin service is available, meaning – home delivery is also fully arranged for. These community meals fill people with joy. This initiative not only connects people; it also fosters a sense of family. Friends, India’s family system is an integral part of our tradition. It is viewed with great curiosity in many countries around the world. In many countries, such family systems are highly respected. Just a few days ago, my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, visited India. He conveyed to me that the UAE is celebrating 2026 as the Year of the Family. The aim is to strengthen harmony and community spirit among its people – indeed, it’s a truly commendable initiative.

Friends,

When the strength of family and society combines, we can overcome even the most insurmountable challenges. I’ve learned about Sheikhgund village in Anantnag. The challenges related to drugs, tobacco, cigarettes and alcohol had increased significantly there. Seeing all this, Mir Jafar Ji, who hails from there, became so distressed that he resolved to address this problem. He united everyone in the village, from the youth to the elders. The impact of his initiative was such that shops there stopped selling tobacco products. This effort also increased public awareness about the dangers of drugs.

Friends,

There are many organizations in our country that have been selflessly engaged in social service for years. For example, there is an organization in Faridpur, East Medinipur, West Bengal. Its name is ‘Vivekananda Lok Shiksha Niketan’. This organization has been engaged in the care of children and the elderly over the last four decades. Along with providing education through the Gurukul system and training teachers, this organization is engaged in many noble endeavours for social welfare. I wish that this spirit of selfless service continues to gain strength among the countrymen.

My dear countrymen,

In ‘Mann Ki Baat’, we have consistently raised the issue of cleanliness. I am proud to see that our youth are very conscious about the cleanliness around them. I have learnt about one such unique effort in Arunachal Pradesh.

Arunachal is the land where the Sun’s rays reach first in the country. Here, people greet each other with “Jai Hind.” In Itanagar, a group of young people came together to clean areas that needed more attention. These young people made it their mission to clean public spaces in various cities. Subsequently, this campaign was also launched in Itanagar, Naharlagun, Doimukh, Seppa, Palin, and Pasighat. These young people have so far cleaned over 11 lakh kilograms of garbage. Imagine, friends, young people together removed 11 lakh kilograms of garbage.

Friends,

Another example is from Assam. In Nagaon, Assam, people are emotionally attached to the old streets there. Here, some people resolved to clean their streets together. Gradually, more people joined them. Thus, a team was formed that removed a lot of garbage from the streets. Friends, a similar effort is underway in Bengaluru. Sofa waste has become a major problem in Bengaluru, hence some professionals have come together to solve that issue in their own way.

Friends,

Today, many cities have teams dedicated to recycling landfill waste. One such team in Chennai has done excellent work. Such examples demonstrate the importance of every effort related to cleanliness. We must increase our efforts for cleanliness, either individually or as a team… only then will our cities become better.

My dear countrymen,

When we talk about environmental protection, we often think of grand plans, grand campaigns, and large organizations. But many a time, change begins in a very simple way. From one person, one area, one step, and even small, sustained efforts can bring about significant change. The effort of Benoy Das, a resident of Cooch Behar, West Bengal, is an example of this. For the past several years, he has single-handedly worked to make his district green. Benoy Das ji has planted thousands of trees. He has often borne the entire cost of purchasing, planting, and caring for the saplings. Where necessary, he has collaborated with local people, students, and municipal bodies. Through his efforts the greenery along the roadsides has further improved.

Friends,

The endeavour of Jagdish Prasad Ahirwar ji, from Panna district in Madhya Pradesh is also highly commendable. He serves as a beat-guard in the forest. Once, during a patrol, he realized that information about many medicinal plants in the forest was not systematically recorded anywhere. Jagdish ji wanted to pass this knowledge on to the next generation. That’s why, he began identifying and recording medicinal plants. He identified over one hundred and twenty five medicinal plants. He collected photograph and information about name, usage and location of each plant.

The Forest Department compiled the information and published it as a book. The information contained in this book is now very useful to researchers, students and forest officials.

Friends,

This same spirit of environment protection is being seen on a larger scale today. With that thought in mind, the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign is being run across the country. Today, crores of people have joined this campaign. More than 200 crore trees have been planted in the country so far. This shows that people are now more aware of environment protection and want to contribute in some way or the other.

My dear countrymen,

I would like to express my deep appreciation to all of you for one more thing. The reason is millets, i.e. Shree Anna. I am happy to notice that the people of the country are continuously growing in love with Shree Anna. Although we had declared 2023 as the Millet Year; even today; three years later, the passion and commitment towards it in the country and the world is very encouraging.

Friends,

A group of women farmers in Kalla-Kurichi district of Tamil Nadu has become a source of inspiration. Around 800 women farmers are associated with the Periyapalayam Millet FPC here. Seeing the rising popularity of millets, these women established a Millet Processing Unit. Now they are directly supplying the products made from millets to the market.

Friends,

Farmers in Ramsar, Rajasthan, are also innovating with Shree Anna. More than 900 farmers are associated with the Ramsar Organic Farmer Producer Company. These farmers primarily cultivate pearl millet. Pearl Millet is processed here to prepare ready-to-eat laddus. These are in great demand in the market. Furthermore, friends, I am delighted to know that many temples nowadays use only millets in their prasad. I heartily congratulate all the administrators of these temples for this initiative.

Friends,

Millet Shree Anna not only raises the income of farmers but is also guaranteeing improvement in people’s health. Millets are rich in nutrition and are a superfood. In our country, the winter season is considered very good for dietary consumption. Therefore, we should definitely consume Shree Anna during these times.

My dear countrymen,

In ‘Mann Ki Baat’, we once again had the opportunity to touch upon myriad topics. This programme gives all of us an opportunity to realise and celebrate our country’s achievements. Another such occasion is on its way in February. The India AI Impact Summit is going to be held next month. Experts from across the world, especially those from the field of technology, will come to India for this summit. This summit will also highlight India’s progress and achievements in the world of AI.

I heartily congratulate everyone who is participating in it. We will definitely talk about the India AI Impact Summit in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ next month. We will also discuss some other achievements of the countrymen. Till then, I take leave of you in this episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’. Once again, my best wishes to all of you for Republic Day tomorrow.

Thank you.

He underlined that schemes like Mudra and Startup India have greatly benefited women, with female self-employment rising by about 15 percent. Shri Modi stressed that the new labour codes have expanded and empowered the scope of social security.

The Prime Minister urged the newly appointed youth to reflect on their past interactions with government offices and processes, recall the difficulties they faced, and resolve not to let such hardships affect citizens during their own tenure. He emphasized that as part of the government, they must undertake small reforms at their level to maximize public welfare. He further remarked that apart from the policy reforms, ease of living and ease of doing business is strengthened by honesty of the government employees. Shri Modi reminded them that in this era of rapidly changing technology, the nation’s needs and priorities are also evolving quickly, and they must continuously upgrade themselves. He encouraged them to make full use of platforms like iGOT Karmayogi, which has already empowered around 1.5 crore government employees. PM addresses Parakram Diwas programme in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

| Published on:

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Parakram Diwas programme in Andaman & Nicobar Islands via Videoconferencing today. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Modi stated that January 23 is the glorious date of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary. He remarked that Netaji’s valor and courage inspire us and fill us with reverence for him. He highlighted that in recent years, Parakram Diwas has become an integral festival of the nation’s spirit. Shri Modi said it is a happy coincidence that January 23 is Parakram Diwas, January 25 is National Voters’ Day, January 26 is Republic Day, January 29 is Beating Retreat, and January 30 is the death anniversary of revered Bapu, creating a new tradition of celebrating the grand festival of the Republic. He extended greetings to all citizens on Parakram Diwas.

Noting that in 2026, the main celebration of Parakram Diwas is being held in Andaman and Nicobar, Shri Modi highlighted that the history of Andaman and Nicobar, filled with valor, sacrifice, and courage, the stories of patriots like Veer Savarkar in the Cellular Jail, and its connection with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose make this celebration even more special. The Prime Minister remarked that the land of Andaman symbolizes the belief that the idea of freedom never ends. He said that many revolutionaries were tortured here and many fighters sacrificed their lives, but instead of extinguishing, the spark of the freedom struggle grew stronger. Shri Modi stated that as a result, the land of Andaman and Nicobar became witness to the first sunrise of free India. He recalled that even before 1947, on December 30, 1943, the tricolor was hoisted here with the waves of the ocean as witness. The Prime Minister recalled that in 2018, when the 75th anniversary of this great event was marked, he had the privilege of hoisting the tricolor at the same place on December 30. Shri Modi remarked that as the national anthem played by the ocean shore, the tricolor fluttering in strong winds seemed to call out that countless dreams of freedom fighters had come true.

Shri Modi stated that after independence, the glorious history of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands should have been preserved, but at that time those who came to power carried a sense of insecurity. He remarked that they wanted to limit the credit for freedom to only one family, and in this political self-interest, the nation’s history was neglected. Shri Modi highlighted that Andaman and Nicobar too were left tied to the identity of colonial rule, with its islands still known by the names of British officers even seventy years after independence. The Prime Minister said that his government ended this injustice of history, and therefore Port Blair has now become ‘Shri Vijaypuram’, a name that reminds us of Netaji’s victory. He added that similarly, other islands were renamed as Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, and Subhash Dweep. Shri Modi recalled that in 2023, 21 islands of Andaman were named after 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees. He emphasized that today, names linked to slavery are being erased in Andaman and Nicobar, and the new names of free India are establishing their identity.

The Prime Minister further remarked that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was not only a great hero of the freedom struggle but also a visionary of independent India. He envisioned a nation modern in form yet rooted in India’s ancient consciousness. Shri Modi said that it is our responsibility to acquaint today’s generation with Netaji’s vision, and expressed happiness that his government is fulfilling this responsibility. He highlighted that a museum dedicated to Netaji has been built at the Red Fort in Delhi, a grand statue of Netaji has been installed near India Gate, and the contribution of the INA has been remembered in the Republic Day parade. The Prime Minister added that the Subhas Chandra Bose Disaster Management Awards have also been instituted. He remarked that these initiatives are not only a mark of respect to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose but also serve as immortal sources of inspiration for our youth and future generations. Shri Modi stated that honoring these ideals and drawing inspiration from them is what fills our resolve for a developed India with energy and confidence.

Shri Modi stated that a weak nation finds it difficult to achieve its goals, and therefore Netaji Subhas always dreamt of a strong nation. He remarked that in the 21st century, India too is establishing itself as a powerful and resolute nation. He highlighted that during Operation Sindoor, India struck back by entering the homes of those who inflicted wounds on the country and destroyed them. Shri Modi emphasized that India today knows how to build power, how to manage it, and how to use power. He said that following Netaji Subhas’s vision of a strong India, the country is working to make the defense sector self-reliant. The Prime Minister noted that earlier India was dependent only on importing weapons from abroad, but today India’s defense exports have crossed ₹23,000 crore. He added that indigenously built BrahMos and other missiles are attracting global attention. Shri Modi remarked that India is modernizing its armed forces with the power of self-reliance.

Highlighting that today 1.4 billion citizens are united in working towards the resolve of a developed India, a path strengthened by the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign and powered by the mantra of Swadeshi, the Prime Minister concluded by expressing confidence that the inspiration of Parakram Diwas will continue to give strength to this journey of a developed India.

Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar, Admiral D. K. Joshi (Retd.), Chairman of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose INA Trust, Brigadier (Retd.) R. S. Chikara, and participant in India’s freedom movement and eternal INA figure Lieutenant R. Madhavan were present among other dignitaries at the event.

Our presidents change, but our ideals do not. The leadership changes, but the direction remains the same: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed party leaders and karyakartas during the felicitation ceremony of the newly elected BJP President, Nitin Nabin, at the party headquarters in New Delhi. Congratulating Nitin Nabin, the Prime Minister said, “The organisational election process reflects the BJP’s commitment to internal democracy, discipline and a karyakarta-centric culture. I congratulate karyakartas across the country for strengthening this democratic exercise.”

Highlighting the BJP’s leadership legacy, Prime Minister Modi said, “From Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and other senior leaders, the BJP has grown through experience, service and organisational strength. Three consecutive BJP-NDA governments at the Centre reflect this rich tradition.”

Speaking on the leadership of Nitin Nabin, the PM remarked, “Organisational expansion and karyakarta development are the BJP’s core priorities.” He emphasised that the party follows a worker-first philosophy, adding that Nitin Nabin’s simplicity, organisational experience and youthful energy would further strengthen the party as India enters a crucial phase on the path to a Viksit Bharat.

Referring to the BJP’s ideological foundation, Prime Minister Modi said, “As the Jan Sangh completes 75 years, the BJP stands today as the world’s largest political party. Leadership may change, but the party’s ideals, direction and commitment to the nation remain constant.”

On public trust and electoral growth, the Prime Minister observed that over the past 11 years, the BJP has consistently expanded its footprint across states and institutions. He noted that the party has gained the confidence of citizens from Panchayats to Parliament, reflecting sustained public faith in its governance model. He said, “Over the past 11 years, the BJP has formed governments for the first time on its own in Haryana, Assam, Tripura and Odisha. In West Bengal and Telangana, the BJP has emerged as a strong and influential voice of the people.”

“Over the past one-and-a-half to two years, public trust in the BJP has strengthened further. Whether in Assembly elections or local body polls, the BJP’s strike rate has been unprecedented. During this period, Assembly elections were held in six states, of which the BJP-NDA won four,” he added.

Describing the BJP’s evolution into a party of governance, he said the party today represents stability, good governance and sensitivity. He highlighted that the BJP has focused on social justice and last-mile delivery of welfare schemes, ensuring benefits reach the poorest and most marginalised sections of society.

“Today, the BJP is also a party of governance. After independence, the country has seen different models of governance – the Congress’s dynastic politics model, the Left’s model, the regional parties’ model, the era of unstable governments… but today the country is witnessing the BJP’s model of stability, good governance, and development,” he said.

PM Modi asserted, “The people of the country are committed to building a Developed India by 2047. That is why the reform journey we began over the past 11 years has now become a Reform Express. We must accelerate the pace of reforms at the state and city levels wherever BJP-NDA governments are in power.”

Addressing national challenges, Prime Minister Modi said, “Decisive actions on Article 370, Triple Talaq and internal security show our resolve to put national interest first.” He added that combating challenges like infiltration, urban naxalism and dynastic politics remained a priority.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said, “The true strength of the BJP lies in its karyakartas, especially at the booth level. Connecting with every citizen, ensuring last-mile delivery of welfare schemes and working collectively for a Viksit Bharat remain our shared responsibility.”

The way the Pradhan Sewak has served the nation is inspiring for all Kayakartas. Shri Nabin expressed heartfelt gratitude for such a successful and globally popular leader, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. The 140 crore people of the country always want to salute this spirit of service. Recalling that when Shri Nabin first participated in a programme with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Modi Ji in Gujarat, Shri Nabin was the National General Secretary. In the programme of the Sadbhavana Mission, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji was listening carefully to every person. After the programme ended, during a conversation in the green room, the Hon’ble Prime Minister explained why such a large number of people came. Shri Nabin stated that these people are not connected only with him, but with the emotion of Gujarat and the hope of development. Through this experience, Shri Nabin understood that a person truly becomes great when he connects himself with the emotions of the people.

Shri Nabin highlighted that during the tenure of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, Bharatiya Janata Party’s all-pervasive and inclusive thinking was implemented on the ground with full commitment. The core mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” that was given today the entire population of the country feels connected to it. Under the previous tenure of BJP’s outgoing National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, there was unprecedented expansion of the organisation and worker-based politics was strongly taken forward. During the COVID period, when people were compelled to stay safe in their homes, the way the tradition and culture of service was kept alive and BJP Karyakartas were called upon to step forward and serve society was exemplary in itself. The entire organization unitedly accepted this call and the directions of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji were implemented in such an effective manner that it became a source of inspiration for every Karyakarta. When opposition leaders were hiding inside their homes, BJP Karyakartas remained engaged every moment in serving COVID patients. It was due to the leadership and guidance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji that the country was able to emerge from that difficult disaster period and move forward.

BJP Newly Elected National President on this occasion, remembers all the former National Presidents of the party and also greets the National President who is present on the stage at this time. Shri Nabin stated that since becoming an MLA for the first time in 2006, it was visible how former National President Shri Rajnath Singh continuously tried to connect the party’s work with every Karyakarta. Shri Nitin Gadkari worked to build and strengthen every front and every cell of the organization. When Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah was the National President, Shri Amit Shah used to care even for Karyakartas at the booth level. The Karyalay is like a pilgrimage place for every Karykarta, from where they get their energy and strength. A plan was made to build such offices across the country, and because of that, today every booth-level Karyakarta feels proud and blessed when they visit that pilgrimage place. Shri Nabin welcomed all the former National Presidents of the BJP and, remembering them, expressed gratitude that their contribution in taking the party to this position has been extremely important.

Shri Nitin Nabin stated that today he pays his respects to the millions of Karyakartas who have dedicated their lives to promoting the ideals of nationalism and upholding the honor and dignity of Mother India. It is the result of their penance and sacrifice that the party has reached this height today. Coming from the land that has been home to great luminaries such as Mahatma Buddha, Gautam Mahavir, Chanakya, Emperor Ashoka, Aryabhata, Guru Gobind Singh, JP, Rajendra Babu, and Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, Shri Nabin pays tribute to the land of Patliputra. On this occasion, remembering and paying respects to his parents, for if there is one personality that has influenced him the most, it is the values instilled by his parents, the party’s ideology, the guidance of elders, and the affection of Karyakartas that has brought Shri Nitin Nabin to this position. Shri Nabin also thanked the people of his constituency, saying that while the public elected him as a legislator, it is the way the organization has shaped him that has enabled him to reach this responsibility today, blessed by the people and guided by the party. Today is a moment of resolve. It is not merely an opportunity to hold a position, but a moment to embrace the responsibility of the party’s ideals, its traditions, and a nationalist movement.

BJP Newly Elected National President asserted that everyone has seen how the intense nationalism of Shri Syama Prasad Mookerjee is deeply rooted in the mind of every Karyakarta. The idea of Antyodaya of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and the politics of Sushasan of revered Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee have continuously strengthened the ideological direction of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Adopting these very values, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has presented the vision of a Viksit Bharat before the country, through which today 140 crore Indians are connected and engaged in taking the nation forward. In his address, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji explained how Antyodaya schemes have been implemented down to the grassroots. Along with the Jal Jeevan Mission, the scheme of 11 crore toilets for women should also be remembered. Shri Nabin spoke about how respect for women increased, 13 crore people received gas connections, 4 crore people got permanent houses, 42 crore people received the benefit of Ayushman Bharat, and 56 crore Jan Dhan accounts were opened. When the opening of Jan Dhan accounts was being discussed, many people used to mock it. Today, if one rupee sent from Delhi for the poor reaches directly into the poor person’s account, it is the blessing of the Jan Dhan account.

Shri Nitin Nabin stated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” is being realized. For a long time, BJP and Jana Sangh-era Karyakartas have been raising certain slogans, such as “Ram Lalla Hum Aayenge, Mandir Wahin Banayenge,” “Jahan Hue Balidan Mukherjee, Woh Kashmir Hamara Hai,” and “Ek Desh Mein Do Vidhan, Do Pradhan, Do Nishan Nahin Chalega.” Today BJP Karyakartas have seen that phase when the path was paved for the Bhavya Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the people of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed liberation from Article 370, and the idea of cultural nationalism is becoming even stronger. Today, seeing the tricolour flying at Lal Chowk in Srinagar fills one with pride. There was a time when Pakistan’s flags used to be waved there and the government in Delhi would remain silent at that time. During the time working in the Yuva Morcha, Shri Nabin witnessed that situation directly. When the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji abolished Article 370, the entire atmosphere of Kashmir changed. Today Kashmir’s Lal Chowk is seen fluttering with the tricolour, and this change has come in the country.

Shri Nabin remarked that Bharatiya Janata Party is not an ordinary political party, but an idea with which Karyakartas connect and work. It is an idea in which, along with political expression, work is done with the slogan of “Nation First.” “Nation First, Party Next and Self Last” Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has connected everyone with this slogan, and his leadership has given direction to Karyakartas to take forward all work by keeping the nation paramount. Karyakartas need to learn from the struggle and sacrifice of their leaders, because this is a political tradition where power is not pursuit, but sacrifice. Politics is not indulgence, but penance. Politics is not a position, but responsibility. All Karyakartas should connect themselves with the hard work and effort of their leaders with this resolve. If today BJP has become the world’s largest political party, the main reason for this is inspirational leadership, a strong ideology, and the hard work of numerous Karyakartas. These are the same Karyakartas who work continuously without any publicity, who do not let India’s flag bow even in the most difficult circumstances, and who proudly say, “Tera Vaibhav Amar Rahe Maa, Hum Din Chaar Rahe Na Rahe.” Let us connect ourselves with the vision of India which, under the leadership and guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, is continuously moving forward. The position we have reached today is due to the hard work of leaders and Karyakartas, but the present generation too will have to contribute its share of sacrifice, penance and effort. If we have to take the resolve of a Viksit Bharat to fruition and build such an India which is prosperous, strong, harmonious and Aatmanirbhar, then the Karyakartas of this era too will have to discharge their responsibilities with full effort, sacrifice and penance. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has clarified the role of different sections of society for the Amrit Kaal, including youth, women, farmers and the poor. Now we will have to move forward with these new identities; only then can the vision of a modern, progressive and developed India be realized.

Shri Nitin Nabin asserted that on 15 August 2024, when Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, in his address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, called upon the youth to enter public life, it was a clear message for the youth of the country. The youth of the nation should understand that staying away from politics is not a solution; rather, active participation is the solution. For positive politics, the youth must come forward. Politics is not a shortcut. Politics is not a 100-metre race, but a long marathon, where the test is not of speed but of stamina. Therefore, on this pitch of politics, it is necessary to strengthen one’s roots and work continuously. The watch tower of BJP is extremely strong. Karyakartas should keep working continuously at their booth and Mandal levels, because BJP’s central leadership keeps a strong watch on every innings, and this hard work surely takes a Karyakarta to that position somewhere or the other. Today, the BJP Karyakarta is seeing how, under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, every Karyakarta is engaged with full loyalty and dedication for the journey from Panchayat to Parliament. On this occasion today, Shri Nabin congratulated all the Karyakartas and expressed gratitude to the people of those regions for the victory in the local bodies of Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa and Arunachal Pradesh. To complete the journey from Panchayat to Parliament and make the BJP flag fly everywhere, the party will have to put in maximum hard work and effort by fully utilizing the time and energy. To build a Viksit Bharat by 2047, then the party too must connect itself to that vision with full hard work and effort.

Shri Nabin remarked that recently everyone has seen how opposition parties attempted to stop the sacred Kartigai Deepam, located on a hill in Tamil Nadu. This is not an ordinary incident, but a well-planned attempt to obstruct traditions. Everyone will remember how recently an attempt was made to bring an impeachment motion against a judge. When Somnath is discussed and the Swabhiman Parv is celebrated, opposition leaders feel discomfort. There is a need to defeat such forces that try to stop these traditions. The forces that deny the existence of Ram Setu and oppose faiths like Kartigai Deepam can no longer have any place in Indian politics, and continuous efforts should be made for this. In the coming months, elections are going to be held in Tamil Nadu, Assam, Bengal, Kerala and Puducherry, where circumstances are changing due to demographic changes, which is a challenge in itself. Shri Nabin expressed full confidence that BJP Karyakartas, on the strength of their struggle and hard work, will work to ensure BJP’s success in all these five states. To fight the battle to protect centres of faith and Sanatan traditions, the Karyakartas will also have to fight the battle to keep the country safe. Therefore, in all these five states, BJP will have to emerge as a strong force.

BJP’s newly Elected National President highlighted that today the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” a symbol of the proclamation of the nation’s consciousness, is being celebrated. The very remembrance of Vande Mataram fills the mind with energy and enthusiasm. Everyone knows well that when a person raises the slogan of Vande Mataram, the energy that arises from within him is the same energy that works to take the country forward. The 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram should be taken to every youth and to every woman, because Vande Mataram is that faith which is deeply connected with the nation’s journey of development. Making power a medium of service, the way Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has continuously worked for India’s development over the last 25 years first as Chief Minister in Gujarat and now as the Prime Minister of the country is a symbol of inspirational leadership for new Karyakartas like Shri Nabin. This leadership is a benchmark for every Karyakarta of the party, from which everyone learns. The model of good governance that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has established before the entire country and the world, with the same model all state governments should also work, only then can the correct measure of development reach the last person. Shri Nabin urged all to come together to ensure collective participation in fulfilling the resolve of a Viksit Bharat and, with a powerful and dynamic organization, take the journey of nation-building to new heights.

This is the same great party which, under the leadership of Shri Syama Prasad Mookerjee, had the good fortune to move forward with an ideological background from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, got the opportunity to develop across the country through the hard work of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, and carrying forward that tradition, great leaders like revered Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Shri Advani, Shri Sundar Singh Bhandari and Shri Kushabhau Thakre continuously took the party forward. Shri Nitin Nabin has taken responsibility as the 12th National President of such a great party, and for this Shri Nadda extended many congratulations and best wishes.

Union Minister remarked that everyone knows that Shri Nitin Nabin is a grassroot Karyakarta, is matured on an ideological foundation, and at a very young age has already been a five-time MLA and is currently also an MLA. Shri Nabin has served several times as a minister in the Bihar government. As the General Secretary of the National Yuva Morcha, Shri Nabin got the opportunity to travel across the country, through which he understood the nation deeply. Served as in-charge of Sikkim and Chhattisgarh, making a very significant contribution in forming the government. As such, he has assumed charge as a young, energetic and talented President, for which Shri Nadda extended heartfelt congratulations. With the confidence that he has organisational experience along with administrative experience, Shri Nitin Nabin will take this party forward at a rapid pace under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

Shri Nadda on this day thanked Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, all members of the Parliamentary Board, crores of Karykartas, and all state presidents from the bottom of his heart. This gratitude is because, with the strength with which everyone worked with him in the past years to run the party, the support they gave him, and the cooperation they provided in implementing the government and party programmes at the grassroots level, Outgoing National President is thankful to all. Shri Nadda especially thanked Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and stated that at every moment and on every occasion, while handling the finer details of small and big matters, the opportunity and strength that he was given to provide vision and work for the party made this work possible. Despite being the country’s Prime Servant and extremely busy, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji paid attention to the small details of the party and contributed fully to taking it forward, for which Shri Nadda thanked him specially. Since 2014, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the victory journey and victory chariot of BJP has been continuously moving forward without stopping. The main reason for this is that the country’s voters, villages, the poor, the deprived, the afflicted, the exploited and all sections of Dalit society have understood that if the country is progressing and progressing safely, then it is progressing only under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

Hon’ble Union Minister mentioned that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the results did not meet the level of expectations the party had, and these outcomes surprised not only the party but also the public sentiment of the nation. A sense of pain and disappointment emerged in the minds of the voters, and it became evident that the people of the country resolved that in every election to come, they would give their full blessings to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and work towards strengthening the party across the nation. After the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the opposition’s confidence was high during the Haryana elections, and even before the results, Congress had begun preparing to distribute sweets not realising that the voters of the country, and of Haryana in particular, had decided that the small lapses caused by overconfidence would be repaid with interest. The voters demonstrated this decisively in the Haryana elections. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, a record victory was achieved in Maharashtra, and victory celebrations were held across the country. During these celebrations, party Karyakartas from Delhi would repeatedly participate, but Delhi itself could not celebrate. However, under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, BJP won in Delhi after 27 years and BJP government was formed. In the same manner, in Bihar, the party not only won the elections but registered victory with the highest strike rate. Recently, municipal corporation elections were held in Maharashtra, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party and the NDA won 25 out of 29 municipal corporations. In the BMC elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party. BJP also won the panchayat elections in Goa. In Thiruvananthapuram, in Kerala, BJP won for the first time since Independence and won a Lok Sabha seat.

Shri Nadda asserted that the victory march which began after 2014 under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is continuing to move forward with full strength, empowered by the blessings of the nation’s voters, and will now progress further under the leadership of Shri Nitin Nabin. The NDA has government in 20 states, while the Bharatiya Janata Party has its own government in 13 states. In Gujarat, the BJP has been in power for six consecutive terms. In Haryana and Goa, the party has formed the government for the second and third terms respectively. BJP has returned to power for a second time in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Assam. With this same confidence, Shri Nadda stated that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the presidency of Shri Nitin Nabin, BJP will emerge victorious in West Bengal as well. The party will form government in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, return to power once again in Assam, and achieve strong results in Kerala. With this belief and confidence, the party continues to move forward.

BJP Ex National President stated that over the past few years, every effort was made to discharge the responsibilities entrusted by the party to the best of one’s ability, with the support and cooperation of all. During the course of fulfilling these duties, if any words may have caused unintended hurt to anyone at any time, sincere apologies were expressed for the same. Shri Nadda expressed heartfelt gratitude to crores of Karyakartas who have worked tirelessly day and night for the party, stating that it was because of their collective efforts that the organisation was able to move forward successfully. Shri Nitin Nabin will, with full strength and dedication, leave no stone unturned in taking the world’s largest and this great party forward. Together, all Karyakartas will support Shri Nabin and take the BJP to new heights, and ensure that BJP will win even in those states where it is yet to win.
