India achieves Milestone of 6 Crore Screenings under National Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission

| Published on:

A total of 6 crore individuals has been screened for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) against the targeted 7 crore under the National Sickle Cell Mission. Among those screened, 2.15 lakh individuals diagnosed with the disease and 16.7 lakh carriers have been identified. Additionally, 2.6 crore health cards have been distributed by the respective states to the screened individuals.

States including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand have demonstrated significant progress by achieving a high percentage of screening relative to their targets. The highest incidence of diagnosed cases has been reported in the states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.

Screening for SCD is being conducted using validated Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) kits, which ensure rapid, reliable, and confirmatory results. Furthermore, a dedicated dashboard and a sickle cell disease portal have been established to consolidate screening data from all participating states.

Future priorities encompass intensifying screening efforts to meet the remaining target and ensuring follow-up and counselling services for individuals diagnosed as diseased or carriers.

The National Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission was inaugurated on 1st July 2023 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister at Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. The mission aims to eliminate sickle cell anemia in India by 2047 through the creation of awareness, universal screening of 7 crore individuals aged 0-40 years in affected tribal areas by FY 2025-26, and provision of counselling through collaborative efforts of central ministries and state governments.

Dr. Jitendra Singh Hails UPSC’s ‘PRATIBHA Setu’ initiative

| Published on:

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology; Earth Sciences and Minister of State for PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh has hailed the UPSC’s “PRATIBHA Setu” initiative for facilitating alternative job avenues for Civil Services aspirants.

PRATIBHA stands for “Professional Resource And Talent Integration” and Setu stands for “bridge”.

The Minister said that this is emerging as a meaningful gateway for Civil Services aspirants who are among the very few who narrowly miss out in the last stage because of not being able to make it in the final interview even after having successfully cleared the Civil Services Exam Final and also having appeared in the interview.

Describing it as a “forward-thinking approach” to talent utilization, Dr Jitendra Singh’s remarks came after a meeting with the newly appointed Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission, Dr. Ajay Kumar, who briefed him on the growing attraction the platform has gained among employers in both government as well as private sectors.

According to the Chairman, the initiative—originally developed from the Public Disclosure Scheme introduced in 2018—has been received positively across the board. Several private organizations have started approaching the Commission to access the pool of candidates who cleared the written exam and interview stages but were not finally selected.

Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that aspirants too are welcoming the move, as it offers them a viable alternative to channel their skill and knowledge into meaningful career paths outside the civil services framework.

PRATIBHA (Professional Resource And Talent Integration) Setu – Bridge for Hiring Aspirants, enables verified organizations to register and access data of non-recommended yet willing candidates from various UPSC examinations, including Civil Services, Indian Forest Service, Engineering Services, and Combined Medical Services, among others. The initiative has already onboarded 113 organizations, with more showing interest in the portal as a trusted source of well-assessed human resources.

What sets PRATIBHA Setu apart is that it transforms a passive disclosure model into an interactive recruitment bridge. While earlier the UPSC published candidate data on its website, the revamped platform allows recruiters to log in and reach out to shortlisted candidates directly. The programme excludes exams such as NDA, NA and select departmental competitions, but covers a wide spectrum of competitive examinations with rigorous assessment processes.

As UPSC heads towards its centenary in 2026, initiatives like PRATIBHA Setu underline the Commission’s evolving role in public recruitment and human resource development. By extending the value of its examination process beyond the confines of the merit list, UPSC is helping connect untapped talent with institutions that value it—enhancing the overall ecosystem of governance and employment.

Dr. Jitendra Singh acknowledged that the success of such platforms not only benefits individual candidates but also addresses a broader need for efficient and transparent recruitment practices. With the continued interest from stakeholders, Pratibha Setu is poised to expand its impact in the coming years. PRATIBHA stands for “Professional Resource And Talent Integration” – Bridge for Hiring Aspirants.

PM’s statement at the start of the Monsoon Session of 2025

| Published on:

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the media before the start of the Monsoon Session of 2025 at the Parliament premises today. Welcoming everyone to the Monsoon session, the Prime Minister remarked that the monsoon symbolizes innovation and renewal, highlighting that current weather conditions across the country are progressing favourably, bringing beneficial forecasts for agriculture. He noted that rainfall plays a crucial role not only in the rural economy and the nation’s overall economic structure but also in the financial well-being of every household. Shri Modi stated that, based on current information, water reservoir levels this year have tripled compared to the past ten years. This increase, he emphasized, will significantly benefit India’s economy in the coming days.

“The current monsoon session is a moment of great pride for the nation, it represents a celebration of victory for India”, stated the Prime Minister, underlining the historic moment when the Indian tricolour flag was unfurled at the International Space Station for the first time, calling it a source of immense pride for every Indian citizen. He emphasized that this achievement has sparked new enthusiasm and excitement across the country for science, technology, and innovation. Shri Modi further noted that the entire Parliament—both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha—as well as the people of India are united in expressing their pride in this accomplishment. He added that this collective celebration will serve as inspiration and encouragement for India’s future space exploration missions.

Describing the current monsoon session as a celebration of India’s victories, Shri Modi stated that the world has witnessed the strength and capability of India’s armed forces. Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister highlighted that the Indian Army achieved its targeted objectives with 100 percent success. He emphasized that in just 22 minutes, under Operation Sindoor, India’s forces neutralized high-value targets at their own bases. He mentioned that he had announced this operation at a public event in Bihar, and the armed forces proved their mettle swiftly. Shri Modi noted growing global interest in India’s emerging “Made in India” defence capabilities, sharing that during his recent international interactions, world leaders have expressed admiration for India’s indigenously developed military equipment. He expressed confidence that as Parliament unites to celebrate this victory in one voice during the session, it will further energize and encourage India’s military strength. The Prime Minister remarked that this collective spirit will also inspire citizens and lend momentum to defence sector research, innovation, and manufacturing, creating new employment opportunities for India’s youth.

The Prime Minister observed that this decade reflects peace and progress advancing hand-in-hand, with a continuous sense of development at every step. He highlighted that the nation has long suffered from various violent incidents, be it terrorism or Naxalism, which have persisted since independence. Remarking that the geographical spread of Naxalism and Maoism is now rapidly shrinking, Shri Modi stated that India’s security forces, with renewed confidence and accelerated efforts, are progressing steadily toward the goal of completely eliminating Naxalism and Maoism. With pride, he affirmed that hundreds of districts across the country are now breathing free, having emerged from the grip of Naxal violence. The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s Constitution is triumphing over weapons and violence. He noted that former ‘Red Corridor’ areas are now visibly transforming into ‘Green Growth Zones’, signaling a promising future for the country.

Underlining that each of these events represents moments of pride for every honourable Member of Parliament, driven by patriotism and dedication to the nation’s welfare, Shri Modi emphasized that during this monsoon session of Parliament, the entire country will hear this celebration of national pride, voiced by every Member of Parliament and every political party.

Highlighting that when their government took charge in 2014, India was part of the Fragile Five economies, the Prime Minister said that at that time, India held the 10th position in the global economic rankings, but today, India is moving rapidly toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy and is knocking on the doors of that milestone. He emphasized that 25 crore people have emerged from poverty, a transformation that has been widely recognized and appreciated by global institutions. Shri Modi noted that prior to 2014, India grappled with double-digit inflation. “Today, with inflation rates hovering around 2 percent, citizens are experiencing relief and improved ease of living. The low inflation coupled with high growth reflects a strong and steady development journey”, stated Shri Modi.

“Initiatives like Digital India and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) are showcasing India’s emerging capabilities to the world with global recognition and interest in India’s digital ecosystem are rapidly increasing”, said the Prime Minister. He remarked that UPI has established a strong presence in the fintech domain. He emphasized that India leads the world in real-time digital transactions, recording more than any other country globally.

Highlighting India’s major achievements at a recent global summit of international organizations, Shri Modi cited the International Labour Organization (ILO), which reported that over 90 crore individuals in India are now covered under social security, a landmark accomplishment in social welfare. The Prime Minister also referenced the World Health Organization (WHO), which has declared India free of trachoma, an eye disease commonly seen during the monsoon season. He emphasized that this recognition marks a significant milestone in India’s public health efforts.

Recalling the brutal killings in Pahalgam that shocked the world and brought global attention to terrorism and its sponsors, the Prime Minister remarked that in response, representatives from most political parties and states rose above partisan interests and embarked on international outreach in service of the nation. He highlighted the success of this unified diplomatic campaign, which exposed Pakistan as a sponsor of terrorism on the global stage. Shri Modi expressed deep appreciation for the Members of Parliament and political parties who carried out this vital national initiative. He stated that their efforts created a positive environment in the country and opened the minds of the international community to India’s perspective on terrorism, noting that it is his privilege to commend all involved for this significant contribution to national interest.

Emphasizing the power of unity and the spirit of one voice that inspires and energizes the nation, the Prime Minister said that the current monsoon session will reflect this spirit as a celebration of victory, honouring India’s military strength and national capability, and serving as a source of motivation for 140 crore citizens. Shri Modi expressed confidence that collective efforts will strengthen India’s pursuit of self-reliance in the defence sector. He urged the nation to recognize and applaud the strength of the armed forces. Addressing the public and political parties, the Prime Minister highlighted the strength that comes from unity and the impact of speaking in one voice. He called upon all Members of Parliament to advance this sentiment in Parliament. Acknowledging the diversity of political parties and their respective agendas, Shri Modi stated that while opinions may differ on party interests, there must be harmony of intent in matters of national interest. He concluded by reaffirming that this session will include several proposed bills aimed at boosting the nation’s development, empowering citizens, and strengthening India’s progress. He extended his best wishes to all Members of Parliament for productive and high-quality debates.

Union Home Minister addresses the ‘Uttarakhand Investment Festival 2025’

| Published on:

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah today addressed the ‘Uttarakhand Investment Festival – 2025’, organized on the occasion of realisation of ₹1 lakh crore worth of investments in Uttarakhand, and inauguration and foundation laying ceremony of various development projects worth ₹1,271 crore by the state government. On this occasion, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Smt. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Shri Ajay Tamta, and Yog Guru Baba Ramdev, along with several other dignitaries, were present.

Addressing the ‘Uttarakhand Investment Festival 2025’, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah said that every time he visits Uttarakhand, he returns with a renewed sense of energy. The moment one sets foot in Uttarakhand, he is blessed by the deities residing in the Char Dham, the sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna, and the saints who have kept the flame of spirituality alive in this land. Shri Shah said that Uttarakhand is rightly called the “Dev Bhoomi” (Land of the Gods), because its mountain peaks elevate not just India but the entire world to spiritual heights. The saints and sages residing here have, for thousands of years, worked to purify and uphold Indian culture flowing alongside the Ganga. At the same time, the rivers of Uttarakhand provide drinking water and irrigation to nearly half of India, sustaining life. He added that Uttarakhand offers a unique confluence of nature and culture.

Shri Amit Shah stated that during the 2023 Global Investors Summit held in Uttarakhand, when Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami informed him that the state had received MoUs worth ₹3.56 lakh crore, he had remarked that signing MoUs is not a major achievement—implementing them on the ground is the real challenge. Shri Shah said that today, investments worth over ₹1 lakh crore have become a reality in Uttarakhand. He noted that bringing investments to landlocked and hilly regions is as challenging as climbing a mountain. However, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, despite all adverse circumstances and by breaking traditional perceptions, has successfully brought in investments exceeding ₹1 lakh crore in the state. He added that along with these investments, more than 81,000 jobs have been created in Uttarakhand. Additionally, it is estimated that ancillary industries will generate around 2.5 lakh new employment opportunities. Importantly, investment has reached even Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. He emphasized that industrial growth in the state has been pursued while maintaining a balance with environmental sustainability. He praised Chief Minister Shri Dhami for outlining a new roadmap for Uttarakhand’s development, marked by transparency in policy, speed in implementation, and vision in planning.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah said that when the people of Uttarakhand were fighting for a separate Uttarakhand state, the opposition party persecuted the agitators of Uttarakhand. He said that the work of making Uttarakhand a separate state was done by the then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atal ji created three states – Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. These three states were formed and started moving forward in the path of development. The icing on the cake was when Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s government came to power in 2014. Shri Shah said that whatever Atal ji created, Modi ji worked to improve and enhance it. Now there is a double engine government in Uttarakhand.

Shri Amit Shah said that Modi Ji has drawn the blueprint for the development of the entire country. Whether it is development of infrastructure, bringing clarity in education policy, laying the foundation of industrial development of the country, taking the economy forward, Modi Ji has made many records in every field. He said that the Modi government has increased the length of national highways by 60 percent in the last 10 years. Work has been done to build 8 lakh kilometer of new roads in rural areas. Convenient ‘Vande Bharat’ trains have reached 333 districts of the country. 45 thousand kilometers of railway lines have been electrified. 88 new airports have been built and inland waterway cargo has increased 11 times. It is the result of these development works that Atal Ji had then brought the economy of this country at number 11 position, which Modi Ji has upscaled it from number 11 to number 4 in 10 years.

Shri Amit Shah said that we are going to become the world’s third largest economy in the year 2027. He said that the speed at which development has taken place, our exports in the service sector have doubled and exports have increased by 76 percent, due to which we have become the fastest growing economy. Shri Shah said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has busted the myth that if infrastructure is built and industrial development takes place, the welfare of the poor gets affected. He said that the Modi government ensured food security by giving 5 kg of grains free of cost to 80 crore poor people of the country, by providing free treatment up to five lakh rupees to crores of people, their expenses incurred on hospitalization were waived off. For the first time after independence, tap water was provided to 16 crore houses, toilets were built in 12 crore houses, LPG cylinders were delivered to 13 crore houses, electricity was provided to 3 crore houses and four crore people were given houses. Along with this, work was also done to bring 25 crore people above the poverty line.

Union Home Minister said that Modi Ji has pledged to make India fully developed by 2047. It is not possible to build a developed India without a developed Uttarakhand. He said that until our small states progress, there cannot be uniform development in the country. Similarly, until the states of the eastern region progress, there cannot be uniform development in the country. Therefore, the Central Government has paid special attention to the development of small states and eastern states.

Shri Amit Shah said that as far as Uttarakhand is concerned, where one Jyotirlinga, two Shakti Peeths, four Dhams, Panch Prayag, Panch Kedar and Sapt Badri are situated, nobody can stop its development. He said that our government devised a policy that brought stability as per the need of Uttarakhand, provided an environment that rolled out the red carpet for the industry and transparent governance, ensured good law and order and provided such infrastructure so that tourists keep coming 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah said that Modi Ji has left no stone unturned in providing facilities to Uttarakhand. He said that some activists were trying to stop the construction of all-weather roads to our four Dhams, but Modi Ji with great determination fielded the lawyers of the Government of India in the Supreme Court and has almost completed the work of providing all-weather roads to the four Dhams. The day this work is completed, there will be a rush of tourists in Uttarakhand all year round. Shri Shah said that the construction of a 12-km long ropeway from Govind Ghat to Hemkund Sahib at a cost of Rs 2700 crore and the Sonprayag-Kedarnath ropeway at a cost of Rs 4000 crore will attract tourists from all over the world in the coming days. Many such roads are being built for the devotees which will connect Delhi directly.

Shri Amit Shah said that due to stable policies, an environment for industrial investment was created in Uttarakhand. Tourism policy, start-up policy, film city policy, policy for service sector and AYUSH policy were made. By making arrangements for getting all approvals through a single window, the Chief Minister has provided a lot of convenience to the industrialists. Shri Shah said that Ayurveda, yoga, natural treatment and organic farming, these four are going to become the basis of development of Uttarakhand in the coming days. Ayurveda, yoga, natural treatment and organic farming are a tradition here, there is a suitable environment for them and people also have faith in them. There is a possibility of attracting many times more investment and tourists in these four areas. He said that the international container depots built in the state will promote exports and logistics. Plug and play facilities are being developed in Haridwar, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar. Many schemes have been brought for start-ups and the current government of the state has created an overall environment for development.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah said that during the opposition party’s government from 2004 to 2014, a total of 53 thousand crore rupees were given to Uttarakhand for devolution and grant-in-aid, while Modi ji gave about three and a half times more i.e. one lakh 86 thousand crore rupees during 2014 to 2024. Apart from this, 31 thousand crore rupees were given for roads, 40 thousand crore rupees for railways and 100 crore rupees for airports. He said that overall we have given four and a quarter times more money to Uttarakhand than the opposition party’s government. He told the opposition that when the state develops, the practice of disrupting development should be stopped. When the state is progressing, it is the responsibility of every political party to support it.

Shri Amit Shah said that Modi Ji has also linked heritage along with development. Our aim is to achieve the fastest development in the world without abandoning Indianness, Indian culture and Indian language.

PM lays foundation stone, inaugurates development works worth over Rs 7,000 Crore in Motihari, Bihar

| Published on:

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation development projects worth over Rs 7,000 crore in Motihari, Bihar today. Offering his salutations at the feet of Baba Someshwarnath during the sacred month of Sawan, the Prime Minister sought blessings, expressing his wish for happiness and prosperity in the lives of all residents of Bihar. Addressing the gathering, Shri Modi said this is the land of Champaran, a land that has shaped history. During the freedom movement, this land gave Mahatma Gandhi a new direction. He emphasized that the inspiration from this very land will now shape Bihar’s new future. He extended congratulations to all present and to the people of Bihar for these development initiatives.

Shri Modi remarked that the 21st century is witnessing rapid global progress, noting that the dominance once held solely by Western nations is now increasingly shared by Eastern countries, whose participation and influence are growing. He emphasized that Eastern nations are now gaining new momentum in development. Drawing a parallel, the Prime Minister stated that just as Eastern countries are advancing globally, in India, it is the era of the eastern states. He affirmed the government’s resolve to ensure that, in the coming times, Motihari in the East becomes as prominent as Mumbai in the West. Shri Modi envisioned equal opportunities in Gaya as in Gurugram, industrial growth in Patna akin to Pune, and development in Santhal Pargana comparable to Surat. He expressed hope that tourism in Jalpaiguri and Jajpur would set new records like Jaipur, and that the people of Birbhum would progress like those in Bengaluru.

“To advance Eastern India, Bihar must be transformed into a developed state”, emphasised Shri Modi, stating that rapid progress in Bihar is possible today because both the Centre and the State have governments committed to Bihar’s development. He cited data to illustrate the contrast in support: during the 10 years of the previous governments when they were in power at the Centre, Bihar received only around ₹2 lakh crore, remarking that this was a form of political retaliation against the government led by Shri Nitish Kumar. The Prime Minister asserted that after coming to power in 2014, his government ended this politics of vendetta against Bihar, stressing that under their rule over the past 10 years, nearly ₹9 lakh crore has been allocated for Bihar’s development. He pointed out that this is four times more than what was provided under previous dispensation, affirming that this funding is being utilized for public welfare and development projects across Bihar.

Underscoring the importance of today’s generation in understanding the despair Bihar faced two decades ago, Shri Modi stated that under the rule of previous governments, development was stalled and it was nearly impossible for funds meant for the poor to reach them. He criticized the then leadership for being focused solely on looting money meant for the poor. The Prime Minister praised the resilience of Bihar’s people, calling it a land where the impossible is made possible. He commended the public for liberating Bihar from the shackles of  previous dispensation, enabling direct delivery of welfare schemes to the poor. Shri Modi also highlighted that over the past 11 years, more than 4 crore houses have been built under the PM Awas Yojana across the country, with nearly 60 lakh constructed in Bihar alone. He noted that this figure surpasses the total population of countries like Norway, New Zealand, and Singapore. “In Motihari district alone, around 3 lakh families have received pucca houses, and the count continues to grow rapidly. Over 12,000 families in the region have received the keys to their new homes today”, said Shri Modi. Additionally, more than 40,000 poor families have received funds in their bank accounts to build pucca houses, with the majority belonging to Dalit, Mahadalit, and backward communities. The Prime Minister remarked that under  previous government rule, it was unimaginable for the poor to receive such housing. He recalled that during their tenure, people feared even painting their homes, worried that landlords would be targeted. He asserted that leaders from the erstwhile ruling party could never have provided pucca houses to the people.

Crediting Bihar’s progress to the strength and determination of its mothers and sisters, Shri Modi stated that women in Bihar clearly understand the significance of every step taken by their government. He acknowledged the large presence of women at the event and recalled the days when they had to hide even ₹10, lacking access to bank accounts, and were denied entry into banks. The Prime Minister affirmed his understanding of the dignity of the poor and recounted how he questioned banks on why their doors were closed to the underprivileged. He highlighted the massive campaign launched to open Jan Dhan accounts, which greatly benefited women, with approximately 3.5 crore women in Bihar now having Jan Dhan accounts. Shri Modi emphasized that government scheme funds are now being transferred directly into these accounts. He further mentioned that the Bihar government, under Shri Nitish Kumar, recently increased the monthly pension for the elderly, differently-abled, and widowed mothers from ₹400 to ₹1,100. The Prime Minister pointed out that this money is being deposited directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. He further stated that in the past one and a half months alone, over 24,000 self-help groups in Bihar have received more than ₹1,000 crore in assistance, attributing this success to the financial empowerment provided by Jan Dhan accounts held by mothers and sisters.

Underlining the powerful outcomes of women empowerment initiatives, noting the rising number of ‘Lakhpati Didis’ across the country and in Bihar, the Prime Minister stated that the national goal is to create 3 crore Lakhpati Didis, and so far, 1.5 crore women have achieved this milestone. He emphasized that over 20 lakh women in Bihar have become Lakhpati Didis, with more than 80,000 women in Champaran alone joining self-help groups to reach this status. Shri Modi announced the release of ₹400 crore as a Community Investment Fund, aimed at strengthening the power of Nari Shakti. He praised the “Jeevika Didi” scheme launched by Shri Nitish Kumar, which has paved the way for lakhs of women in Bihar to become self-reliant.

Reiterating their party’s vision: ‘Bihar’s progress is essential for India’s progress’,  Shri Modi  emphasized that Bihar will advance only when its youth move forward. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a prosperous Bihar and employment for every youth. The Prime Minister stated that significant efforts have been made in recent years to create employment opportunities within Bihar itself, commending Shri Nitish Kumar’s government for appointing lakhs of youth in government roles with full transparency. He noted that new resolutions have been taken by Bihar Chief Minister to further employment for Bihar’s youth, and assured that the Central Government is fully supporting these efforts shoulder to shoulder.

The Prime Minister announced that the Central Government has recently approved a major scheme aimed at supporting first-time job seekers in the private sector. Under this scheme, youth receiving their first appointment in a private company will be granted ₹15,000 by the Central Government. He stated that the scheme will be implemented starting August 1 and will involve an expenditure of ₹1 lakh crore by the Centre,  emphasising that this initiative will significantly benefit the youth of Bihar. Shri Modi also highlighted efforts to promote self-employment in Bihar through schemes like the Mudra Yojana. He noted that in the past two months alone, lakhs of loans have been disbursed under the Mudra Yojana in Bihar, adding that in Champaran specifically, 60,000 youth have received Mudra loans to support their self-employment ventures.

Asserting that leaders from other parties can never provide employment, especially those who, under the guise of offering jobs, seize people’s land, Shri Modi urged the public to remember the contrast between the era of lanterns and today’s Bihar, illuminated by new hopes. He credited this transformation to Bihar’s journey with their coalition government, affirming that Bihar’s resolve remains firm and unwavering in its support for the coalition.

The Prime Minister highlighted the decisive action taken against Naxalism in recent years, which has greatly benefited the youth of Bihar. He stated that districts like Champaran, Aurangabad, Gaya, and Jamui—once held back by Maoist influence—are now witnessing the decline of extremism. He emphasized that in areas once overshadowed by Maoist violence, youth are now dreaming big,  and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completely freeing India from the grip of Naxalism.

“This is a new India—an India that spares no effort in punishing the enemies, mobilizing forces from both land and sky”, declared Shri Modi, recalling that it was from the soil of Bihar that he had resolved to launch Operation Sindoor. He affirmed that today, the success of that operation is being witnessed by the entire world.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Bihar lacks neither capability nor resources and today, Bihar’s resources are becoming instruments of its progress. He highlighted the rise in makhana prices following efforts by their government, attributing it to the integration of makhana farmers with larger markets. He also mentioned the formation of a Makhana Board to further support this sector. Shri Modi listed several key products—banana, litchi, Mircha rice, Katarni rice, Zardalu mango, and Maghai paan—as examples of Bihar’s agricultural richness. He emphasized that these and many other products will connect Bihar’s farmers and youth to global markets.

Stating that increasing farmers’ produce and income is a top priority for the government, Shri Modi highlighted that under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, approximately ₹3.5 lakh crore has been disbursed to farmers across the country. He noted that in Motihari alone, over 5 lakh farmers have received more than ₹1,500 crore through this scheme.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the government does not stop at slogans or promises,it delivers through action. He emphasized that when their Government says it works for the backward and extremely backward communities, this commitment is reflected in its policies and decisions. He stated that their mission is clear: priority to every backward individual, whether it is backward regions or backward classes, they remain central to the government’s priorities. Shri Modi pointed out that for decades, over 110 districts were labeled as backward and neglected and their government prioritized these districts by designating them as aspirational districts and driving their development. The Prime Minister noted that even India’s border villages were long considered “last villages” and left behind, but the government redefined them as “first villages” and prioritized their development. He highlighted that the OBC community had long demanded constitutional status for the OBC Commission—a demand fulfilled by their coalition government. Shri Modi mentioned the launch of the Janman Yojana for the most marginalized among tribal communities, with ₹25,000 crore being allocated for their development. The Prime Minister announced a new major initiative aligned with this vision: the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana, recently approved by the Union Cabinet. Under this scheme, 100 districts, agriculturally rich in potential but lagging in productivity and farmer income will be identified and prioritized. He stated that farmers in these districts will receive targeted support under the scheme. He emphasized that this will directly benefit nearly 1.75 crore farmers across the country, with a significant share belonging to Bihar.

Highlighting the inauguration and foundation laying of railway and road projects worth thousands of crores, Shri Modi stated that these projects will significantly enhance convenience for the people of Bihar. He also flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express on four different routes across the country. The Prime Minister also highlighted that the Amrit Bharat Express will now run directly from Motihari-Bapudham to Anand Vihar, Delhi, mentioning that the Motihari railway station is being redeveloped with modern facilities and a new look. He added that the doubling of the Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj rail line will greatly improve travel convenience on this route.

Emphasizing Champaran’s deep connection with India’s faith and cultural heritage, Shri Modi stated that the Ram-Janaki Path will pass through Motihari’s Sattarghat, Kesariya, Chakia, and Madhuban. He highlighted that the new railway line being developed from Sitamarhi to Ayodhya will enable devotees from Champaran to travel to Ayodhya for darshan. He remarked that these initiatives will significantly enhance connectivity in Bihar and generate new employment opportunities in the region.

The Prime Minister criticised the previous governments for having long engaged in politics in the name of the poor, Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities and that they not only deny equal rights but also fail to show respect to those outside their own families. He asserted that Bihar is witnessing their arrogance clearly today. Calling out for protecting Bihar from their malicious intent, Shri Modi praised the dedicated efforts of the current Bihar Government and urged everyone to collectively accelerate Bihar’s development and move toward a brighter future. He concluded by calling for a shared resolve to build a new Bihar and congratulated the people for the development projects inaugurated today.

The Governor of Bihar, Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar, Union Ministers Shri Jitan Ram Manji, Shri Giriraj Singh, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Shri Chirag Paswan, Shri Ramnath Thakur, Shri Nityanand Rai, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary were present among other dignitaries at the event.

Modi government is taking sports to every village: Amit Shah

| Published on:

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, addressed the felicitation ceremony of Indian Police and Fire Brigade contingent, who returned after participating in the 21st World Police and Fire Games-2025 held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, in New Delhi today. Many dignitaries including Director of Intelligence Bureau and Special Secretary (Internal Security) of Ministry of Home Affairs were present on the occasion.

Union Home Minister expressed happiness over the Indian contingent winning 613 medals at the 21st World Police and Fire Games and congratulated the Indian police and fire services team for their excellent performance and for making the country proud. He said that the next World Police and Fire Games will be held in India. Shri Shah said that our aim should be to ensure that at least one athlete from every police force under the All India Police Sports Control Board participates in the next World Police and Fire Games. Our participation should be inclusive. He added that each team should aim to win at least three medals. By setting such a goal, the record of winning 613 medals will break on its own.

Shri Amit Shah said that today the Indian team was given an incentive amount of ₹4,38,85,000. He mentioned that earlier, the Police and Fire Games were not given much importance in the country. However, in terms of participation, this is the world’s largest sporting event after the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games. Shri Shah said that nearly 10,000 athletes take part in these games, and because of the country’s strong performance, it is a matter of great pride for 1.4 billion citizens.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that athletes from various police forces have performed well by participating in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, now our focus should be on the World Police and Fire Games – 2029. In the 2029 World Police and Fire Games to be held in Gujarat, every athlete should move forward to win a medal by focusing on a single goal, just like Arjun. Shri Shah said that many members of the Indian contingent won medals at the World Police and Fire Games – 2025, but there were also many who could not achieve success. He said that the most important thing for us is to participate in the game; winning and losing are part of life. Setting the goal to win and striving to achieve victory should be our nature, and winning should become our habit. With the habit of winning, we always move towards excellent performance.

Union Home Minister said that the upcoming World Police and Fire Games will be held in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Kevadia in Gujarat. He expressed the hope that Indian athletes will perform so well in these games that it will be recognized that there is great potential for sports in India. He mentioned that the Modi government is trying to host the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games in India so that sports become a part of the people’s nature. Shri Shah added that India is going to bid for hosting the 2036 Olympic Games, has already submitted a bid for the Commonwealth Games, and has again submitted bid to host the Asian Games. The purpose of hosting these events in India is to make sports a natural part of the lives of the country’s people and different sections, such as the police and fire brigade. He added that sports should be an integral part of life. He said that a child who does not play becomes discouraged by defeat, and a child who does not resolve to win after losing never develops the habit of winning. There is only one place to learn — the ground, the playing field — and it is on the playing field that the habit of accepting defeat and the passion to achieve victory are developed. He said that gradually this attitude should develop among our youth.

Shri Amit Shah urged the All India Police Sports Control Board to provide world-class coaches to the Indian police teams and to give specialized training to the medical teams of the forces for treating sports-related injuries. He said that both these tasks need to be carried out in a planned manner and assured that full support will be provided by the Ministry of Sports.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah urged the Directors General of all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to create an environment where every police personnel and officer develops a sporting spirit. He said that police officers should start their mornings with a parade alongside their subordinates and spend their evenings playing sports with them. This will help relieve work-related stress and improve performance. Shri Shah stated that sports teach us to think broadly. All Central and State police forces should cultivate this habit from top to bottom. He added that the government is taking steps to promote sports within the security forces by relaxing service rules and adapting recruitment processes accordingly.

Shri Amit Shah said that last year the Ministry of Home Affairs made several initiatives, including changes in recruitment rules for talent identification, formation of 25 outdoor sports teams in each force, and creating combined teams of the CAPFs. He added that the proposed National Sports Bill includes a provision to recognize police forces at the state level, enabling each police force to participate as a single unit in national sporting events.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the sports budget has increased fivefold in the past 10 years, reflecting the government’s commitment to sports. A large number of new sports infrastructures have been developed. Under the TOPS (Target Olympic Podium Scheme), around 3,000 athletes are being supported with a monthly stipend of ₹50,000 to prepare for the 2036 Olympic Games. The Fit India Movement has also positively impacted the athlete selection process, resulting in a threefold increase in the number of medals won in the Olympics, Paralympics, and Asian Games.

Shri Amit Shah expressed hope that India will be in the top 5 of the medal tallies at the 2036 Olympics. He said that the Modi government is taking sports to every village, and the selection and training of children in every sport are being done scientifically. Shri Shah added that a very positive environment for sports is now developing in the country.

Piyush Goyal calls upon youth to be the architects of a Viksit Bharat by 2047

| Published on:

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal inaugurated India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Conference 2025 in Noida today. Addressing a vibrant gathering of students and young leaders, the Minister urged the youth to actively contribute to building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi under the ‘Panch Pran’ (Five Pledges) for Amrit Kaal.

Shri Goyal highlighted that India stands at the cusp of a major transformation. Recalling Prime Minister’s address on 15th August 2022, he said that the 25-year period of Amrit Kaal leading up to the centenary of India’s independence in 2047 is a defining moment for the nation. He called upon the youth to commit themselves to making India a developed country by 2047.

He elaborated that the first of the five pledges is the resolve to make India a developed nation. Urging the youth to visualise themselves over the next few decades, he said they will be the primary drivers of this transformation. “This commitment can only be realised if we also embrace the remaining four pledges with equal seriousness,” he said.

The second pledge, Shri Goyal noted, is to shed the colonial mindset. Referring to India’s rich history as a global economic powerhouse, he said centuries of foreign subjugation had eroded confidence and imposed limitations. “We must not be bound by the constraints of the past but instead aspire to meet global benchmarks and set ambitious goals,” he stated.

The third pledge is about taking pride in India’s heritage. Shri Goyal said that India’s history, culture, traditions and value systems hold deep significance as we move towards becoming a developed nation. “Vikas bhi, virasat bhi – we must pursue development while preserving our heritage. Our diversity is our strength, and we must amalgamate our traditions into a collective journey towards progress,” he added.

Speaking about the fourth pledge, the Minister said that unity and integrity of the nation must be paramount. Commending IIMUN for its efforts to engage youth from across India and abroad, Shri Goyal remarked that this unity is India’s greatest strength and must be nurtured at every level. He underscored that this collective spirit is fundamental to the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.

The fifth pledge, he said, is the collective resolve of 1.4 billion Indians to contribute to nation-building. Shri Goyal emphasized that a developed India can only emerge when all citizens work together like a family, with shared responsibility and compassion. “We must be concerned for the marginalised, care for the underprivileged, and ensure that our progress is inclusive and sustainable,” he said.

The Minister encouraged the youth to accept nation-building as a duty and a privilege, and to perform every task with commitment and dedication. He urged them to inculcate care and concern for others and give their best to whatever job they undertake.

Paying tribute to the role of teachers and mentors, Shri Goyal said that while their contributions are often taken for granted during school and college years, they play a vital role in shaping the future of individuals and the nation. He described this bond as one of the most valuable and lasting relationships in life.

Shri Goyal also urged the youth to actively consider participating in public life. Recalling the Prime Minister’s address on Independence Day 2024, he noted that the Prime Minister had called upon one lakh young men and women to enter politics and public service to become agents of change. “There is a need for capable and committed individuals to contribute to policymaking with compassion, dedication, and a spirit of service,” he said.

Shri Goyal urged the youth to take charge of India’s future, saying, “Be the changemakers, the movers and shakers of tomorrow’s India. With collective resolve, we can overcome every challenge and lead our nation to greater heights.”
